Megan’s Law protects parents and children In the state of California, anyone who has engaged in sexual misconduct with a child under the age of 16 is not allowed to work directly with minors, or to be unaccompanied with minors. This includes volunteer and employee positions. This law helps to create safe environments for our children in our schools and churches. SEASONED CITIZENS The Seasoned Citizens group cordially invites people over 50 to join them. We get together in the Parish Center once a week and plan lots of different fun activities and events. GOD’S CALL The person who has been “saved,” who has “heard the good news of salvation,” still lives in an unsaved world, a world sadly oblivious to the presence of God. Today’s readings outline how the disciple is present in the world. The outline begins with Isaiah: “Share your bread, shelter the oppressed, clothe the naked” (Isaiah 58:7). Those who hear the word of salvation are not insensitive to the urgent needs of others. Then Paul reminds his flock that he brought Christ to them not in eloquence or wisdom, but by being with them in the “weakness and fear” of their daily lives (1 Corinthians 2:3). Finally, Jesus tells his disciples to go out into the gloom and darkness of the streets of the world and let God’s light shine through their good deeds. We disciples don’t save the world. To the extent, however, that we have heard the word of God and been awakened to God’s presence, we may spread that word and bring that presence to others.

EL LLAMADO DE DIOS

La persona que ha sido “salvada” y que ha “oído la buena noticia de salvación” sigue viviendo en un mundo que no ha sido salvado, un mundo tristemente inconsciente de la presencia de Dios. Las lecturas de hoy bosquejan cómo el discípulo se hace presente al mundo. Ese perfil se inicia con Isaías: “Comparte tu pan con el hambriento, abre tu casa al pobre sin techo, viste al desnudo” (Isaías 58:7). Los que escuchan la palabra de salvación no son insensibles a las urgentes necesidades de los demás. Pablo le recuerda a su rebaño que él le trajo a Cristo no con elocuencia o sabiduría, sino que permaneció con ellos “débil y temblando de miedo” en medio de su trabajo diario (1 Corintios 2:3). Finalmente, Jesús dice a sus discípulos que vayan a la desesperanza y oscuridad de las calles del mundo y dejen que la luz de Dios brille a través de sus obras buenas. Los discípulos no salvan el mundo. Sin embargo, si nosotros hemos escuchado la Palabra de Dios y hemos empezado a discernir su presencia, podemos proclamar esa Palabra y traer esa presencia a los demás.

TOGETHER IN MISSION 2/9/2020 Today, Archbishop Gomez invites every Catholic to make their commitment to Together in Mission. Our parish has been asked to raise $44,691.00. Last year, all of our generous parishioners helped us raise our goal, $45,700 and make us to become one of the most generous parishes in the Archdiocese. This year’s theme “Our Story is Alive” reminds us that our gifts to Together in Mission are an active demonstration of our faith and love for those in our Archdiocese who need our support. Please make a pledge with the information that was mailed to your home, a pledge card found with the parish, or online at ourmissionla.org/give.

El año pasado, todos nuestros generosos feligreses nos ayudaron a recaudar nuestra meta de $ 45,700.00, que hizo que nos convirtiéramos en una de las parroquias más generosas de la Arquidiócesis. El tema de este año "Nuestra historia está viva" nos recuerda que nuestros donativos a Unidos en Misión son una demostración activa de nuestra fe y amor por aquellos en nuestra Arquidiócesis que necesitan nuestro apoyo. SCHOOL ACKNOWLEDGMENT Thank you St. Bridget Community for your support to our school. This past Saturday, February 8th , we held our International Night. Thank to our event organizers, volunteers, those who donated items, our St. Bridget parents, students, and parishioners who all contributed to the school fundraising efforts. AGRADECIMIENTO DE LA ESCUELA Gracias a la comunidad de Santa Brígida por su apoyo a nuestra escuela. El sábado pasado, 8 de febrero, celebramos la Noche Internacional. Gracias a los voluntarios que orgranizaron éste evento, y a todos aquellos que donaron artículos, a los padres, estudiantes y feligreses de Santa Brígida que contribuyeron con sus esfuerzos y apoyo a la recaudación de fondos de la escuela. Que Dios les siga bendiciendo. Sus contribuciones ayudarán a nuestra escuela a continuar trabajando en proyectos de mantenimiento.
