GOD’S WAYS In the stream of readings during this portion of Or-dinary Time one week’s texts can often appear to pick up exactly where the previous week’s concluded. The sentiments expressed in today’s first reading seem to be a direct reaction to the Gospel passage we heard last week. In that Gospel, the landowner pays the same wages to his workers whether they worked for a full day or for only a few minutes. Today Ezekiel gives us the lament, “The Lord’s way is not fair!”(Ezekiel 18:25). These Sundays in Ordinary Time offer us a glimpse into the ways of the Lord. We see how God’s way has the tendency to turn the accepted conventions of the day upside down. Those who always expected that their way to heaven was guaranteed are disappoint-ed. Those who thought they never had a chance are given that chance. Today offers us another opportunity to discover the abundance of God’s mercy and love. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

October 1, 2017 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time “Do nothing out of selfishness; rather, humbly regard others as more important than your-selves…” Philippians 2:3 Pride and ego are hard things to control. We see how others act or dress and think we are superior to them. We idolize our own self-image. But, if we truly believe everything is a gift from God, we recognize all the people that God has put in our lives as gifts! We are grateful for how they enrich our lives. Pray every day for the people in your life.

A little Reminder The 5 air handlers in the faith formation have now been replaced. We would appreciate any extra that you can contribute to help offset the cost to the parish. Thank You. The main doors to the parish hall were recently re-stained by parishioners Julie and Brian Smock. They did such a beautiful job. Please do not tape anything to the inside or outside of these doors. The tape removes the stain and now the doors will need to be touched up. Thank You.

May They Rest in Peace Our prayers go out to Mark & Loretta Dahlweiner on the recent passing of Mark’s mother, Doris Dahlweiner. And for those of you who may not have received my email we would also like to ask you to also remember Sister Noreen Dennehy , who during the early 2000s, lived in what is now the rectory, at St Boniface and had a vibrant ministry to the shut ins in the parish. Sister Noreen died September 22nd at her retirement home in Tenafly, NJ. May Doris’s and Noreen’s souls, and the souls of the all the faithful departed through the mercy of God now rest in peace.

May He Rest in Peace On Sunday September 24,2017, our sweet friend Paul Sweatt, was called home to be with our Lord. Paul was 87 years old and retired from Anheuser Busch. He served St. Boniface for many years as a choir

member, prison ministry, altar server, Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion, and in the Rosary Prayer Group. Paul was a US Air Force Veteran. He is survived by his twin sister Pauline, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Paul will be deeply missed by his parish family. So as he used to say, “never say goodbye,” so long my dear friend, until we meet again.

White Mass Please save the date of Tuesday, October 17th, 2017 at 6:00pm at the St. Mary’s Chapel (Catholic Pastoral Cen-ter). The Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Gregory J. Hartmayer, OFM Conv.. There will be a reception with Bishop Hartmayer after Mass. Please encourage all men and women, religious and laypersons, that you know serv-ing in any healthcare profession to attend this special Mass for recognition and blessings.

MOVIE UNDER THE STARS The weather was perfect, the hot dogs delicious, the popcorn abundant and the ice cream a real treat!! All who attended had a very good time. Jodi McIntosh and the St. Boniface youth group did an outstanding job of cooking, serving and selling the hot dogs. This was a chance for them to raise money for their trip to D.C. in January for the Pro Life march. Thank you to all who helped set up and clean up. -The Parish Life Committee

WHAT IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE? JOIN US IN RCIA, A JOURNEY OF FAITH, TO FIND IT. Jesus said that He is “the way, the truth, and the life.”

Since then, the image of journey has been used to describe those who follow Him. Faith is a journey marked with moments of conversion along the way. The purpose of RCIA (The Rite of Chris-tian Initiation of Adults) is literally “the making of Christians,” for “Christians are made, not born.” (Tertullian) Join us on the journey, Mon-days 7-8:30PM in the Faith Formation Building. The first class was Sept. 25, but you can still reg-ister by contacting the parish office at 754-7473. For more information call Denise Curtis at 912-547-3936.

Catholic Lawyers Guild to Host Annual Red Mass The Annual Red Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Chap-el at the Pastoral Center Thursday, October 26 at 5:30 p.m. A reception will follow during which the St. Thomas More Award will be presented. Immediately prior to the Mass, a short business meeting will be held at 5:00. This event is open to all attorneys, judges, clerks, law students and others engaged in the legal profession. One does not need to be a member of the Guild, nor Catholic, to attend. The Red Mass is celebrated annual-ly in the Catholic Church for judges, lawyers, law school professors, law students, and government offi-cials. The Mass requests guidance from the Holy Spirit for all who seek justice, and offers the opportunity to reflect on what Catholics believe is the God-given pow-er and responsibility of all in the legal profession. Orig-inating in Europe during the High Middle Ages, the Red Mass is so-called from the red vestments tradition-ally worn in symbolism of the tongues of fire (the Holy Spirit) that descended on the Apostles at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). Its name also exemplifies the scarlet robes worn by royal judges that attended the Mass centuries ago. There is a fair amount of parking, though limited, in front of the Pastoral Center. Overflow can be accom-modated in the Bi-Low parking lot next door. Kindly RSVP to broker@glsp so the Guild we will know how many to expect.

Savannah Deanery High School Youth Mass with Bishop Hartmayer will take place on October 8 at 5:00 at the Catholic Pastoral Center, 2170 E. Victory Drive. It will be followed with dinner in Boland Hall. All high school teens and Youth Leaders are welcome .
