RAY BROGLE2014 CRYSTAL AWARD

RAYMAR PHOTOGRAPHY

Ray Brogle, along with his wife Mary, founded Raymar Photography in 1984. This family owned and operated business provides services to over 30 schools and countless special events in St. Bernard, Orleans, Jefferson and St. Charles Parishes.

Mr. Brogle is a graduate of Warren Easton High School and Delgado Trade School. He got his start in the photography business by working with another fellow photographer, while working full time as a machinist at The American Can Company. Deciding to go out on his own, Mr. Brogle started his business out of his home and before long acquired a Portrait Studio at Krauss Department Store on Canal Street. Shortly thereafter, he opened his first Chalmette Studio on Jean Lafitte Pkwy and then in 1997 he built his current location on Parc Place. Since Hurricane Katrina ravished the Chalmette Studio, Ray quickly decided to run the business out of his home and commuted back and forth to the newly formed Unified School in St. Bernard. In 2006, a second studio was opened in Destrehan, where Raymar Photography now provides services to schools and special events in St. Charles Parish. Ray currently lives in Kenner with his wife Mary and is the proud father of 4 and grandfather of 6.

The St. Bernard Sports Hall of Fame is so thankful of it’s affiliation with Ray Brogle and his staff. Raymar Photography has been there for us since our inception over 20 yrs. ago. Without Ray Brogle’s tireless efforts, events like tonight wouldn’t be possible.

We say, thank you.

“The best linebacker I’ve ever coached or seen at anytime. Byron took care of business on the field as well as off and I just can’t say enough about the young man’s work ethic, integrity, character and dedication. In my opinion, he’s the most all around, complete linebacker that Louisiana Tech has ever produced.

Byron has a tremendous nose for the football, his motor never stops running, he possesses excellent speed and the kid will punish a blocker or ball carrier! If ever there was a player with all the intangibles, Byron is that guy,” quoted Head – Coach Jack Bicknell.

FOOTBALL CAREER SUMMARY:After red shirting his freshman year, Byron took the Louisiana

Tech fan base by storm. During Byron’s Louisiana Tech career, he saw action in 44 games including making 27 starts at outside linebacker for the Bulldogs. He recorded a career total of 274 tackles, including 133 solo stops and 141 assisted tackles, with a career-high of 107 tackles in 2003.

In his breakout year as a sophomore, he led Louisiana Tech in tackles and earned a spot on the Second Team All-WAC Team. During his junior year Byron was named team captain, and received national recognition and was ranked as one of the top 25 linebackers in the nation. He was named First Team All-WAC Team and All-Louisiana. He was also recognized as the Louisiana Tech Football team MVP, and received the Louisiana Tech Billy Mason Award.

As a senior Byron was #2 in the nation for forced fumbles. He was once again named First Team All-WAC and All-Louisiana. He was also named to the Honorable Mentioned All-American team, and was nominated for Louisiana Defensive Player of the Year.

Following Byron’s final season with Louisiana Tech he signed a three-year deal with the Green Bay Packers. After he recovered from a back injury, Byron returned to New Orleans, married his college sweetheart, and started a career in the oil and gas industry.

Upon high school graduation in 2001, Byron received a 4 year athletic scholarship to Louisiana Tech. KERWIN “BOO BOO” CLARK2014 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEEKerwin “Boo Boo” Clark is a twenty year resident of St. Bernard Parish and one of the hot-test Jockeys in the Country. He started riding on the Bush Tracks in Lafayette, Louisiana at age eleven and has been in the saddle for nearly forty years. At age fifty-five, “Boo Boo’s” career has recently resurged when he found himself teamed up with trainer Larry Jones and [owners] Brereton Jones and Mr. Rick Porter. He is rapidly approaching 3000 career victories and has won 62 races from 399 starts as of late November, 2014 in this years’ racing season. Career best purse earnings of $3.93 million came in the year 1990 with 1,612 starts. Now, as the go-to rider for Jones and his quality mounts, Clark will easily surpass best purse earnings in a year with far less rides. Our 2014 Inductee, Mr. Clark, attributes this to winning the right races.
