A 60,000 sq. ft. medical office building adjacent to the hospital makes the campus the core provider for the healthcare needs of St. Bernard Parish.


The 60,000 sq. ft. medical office building adjacent to the hospital will include the St. Bernard Community Health Center, SBPH hospital administrative offices and several physician practices.

It is scheduled to open in Fall 2012.

The 40-bed, 113,000 square foot facility will feature: 32 general

medical/surgical beds 8 intensive care beds 4 operating suites cardiac cath lab 2 endoscopy suites 10-bed emergency

department medical imaging laboratory in-house pharmacy food & nutritional services

SBPH’s 10-bed Emergency Department


The Emergency Department’s 10-bed unit will be staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.


The SBPH team of Interventional and Board certified radiologists and highly trained staff will use state-of-the-art medical imaging equipment to provide the following services: CT Scan; Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI); Ultrasound; Breast MRI; Digital mammography; Bone Density; Nuclear Medicine; Digital X-ray; and Interventional Radiology.

Hospital lobby, floor-to-ceiling windows allow for natural light.


The SBPH cafeteria will be open to visitors, staff and the general public from Mon-Fri, 7 AM – 2 PM. Hot breakfast

will be served from 7 AM – 9 AM and continental breakfast will remain available until 10:30 AM. The

cafeteria will serve lunch, including daily specials, from 11 AM – 2 PM.

Under the leadership of CNO Maria Albright, MSN, APRN, ACNS-BC (2nd from left), the clinical staff includes nursing, pharmacy,

radiology, nutritional services and laboratory staff.


The SBPH laboratory will be staffed 24/7 with Louisiana State Licensed Medical

Technologists or Technicians


With lessons learned from Katrina, hospital generators, diesel fuel tanks and operating systems are located on the 2nd floor,

Archbishop Gregory Aymond, Archdiocese of New Orleans, blessed the facility and chapel during his visit

to SBPH on July 31, 2012.

The donated stained glass piece was designed in 1925.

The SBPH Med-Surg/Telemetry Unit will maintain 32 private patient rooms.


St. Bernard Parish Hospital’s Infection Prevention and Epidemiology Departments’ primary goal is to

eliminate or minimize the risk of Healthcare Acquired Infections, or HAIs
