Elementary Faith Formation News

First Saturday ProLife Rosary

Saturday, February 1, 2020 4:30pm—before 5:00pm Mass

Howdy, Many of you remember how exciting it was to celebrate with Fr. Christopher Gossen from our parish when he was ordained, it is time for us to begin finding another young man to answer God’s call. With this in mind, I would like to invite any young man to our annual Andrew dinner on February 5.

Bishop Nevares began these dinners when he became our auxiliary bishop to promote vocations to the priesthood. Young men in high school or college are invited to a dinner with some of our seminarians and priests to talk about priesthood and help with their discernment of what God is calling them to do with their lives. I often remind people not to ask a young person what they want to do when they grow up, but to ask what God is calling them to do.

Anyone interested in coming to the dinner should contact Shannon, our youth minister for details. It is possible we will be car-pooling to the dinner.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Mike

The next event will be the Confirmation/First Communion Retreat on Saturday, February 22, 2020. This is for all third graders and Heritage students receiving these sacraments in the spring. All parents should have received a letter with more information on the retreat last week. If you did not receive a letter, please let me know, so I can make sure we have your family on our register for sacraments. Please don’t forget to RSVP your student for the retreat and the family for the dinner on the 22nd.

Please contact me at 480-661-9843 ex309 at the Parish Office or through email [email protected] with any comments or questions concerning Faith Formation, sacraments for the youth or Adult Confirmation. God’s blessings,

Kathie

Safe Environment News All Volunteers in any Parish Ministry please note: Good News! The Office of Safe Environment has extended the deadline for training completion until January 31st, because the reconstruction of the site caused many problems with access. If you are in need of renewal please complete your training before January 31st or you will be automatically kicked out of the system and you will need to start all over again with the foundation. There are many changes to the safe environment process in the Diocese of Phoenix this year. There are fliers in the Church foyer, the Parish Office and our Website (under Parish Ministries) with an explanation of how to access the new training website. Please follow the instructions when signing in, especially if you are in need of renewal. Thank you to all who have completed or are in the process of completing their training. I appreciate your patience this past month with the new site, however this training has been due since July 1st. I am happy to help anyone who is struggling to create an account with CMG or having trouble completing their renewal or foundation class when I can. Many of these problems I have not been able to help with, as I have been shut out of the system too at times. I will be out of the Office from January 8th through the 18th, so please contact me after the 20th at the Parish Office 480-661-9843 ex 309 if you have any problems or questions. My contact information is also on the flier. For those who do not have computers I will be happy to help you set up an account through a parish computer. Please have patience with all the changes. Together, we will complete all the necessary steps to help keep St. Bernard’s a safe environment for all and hopefully you will begin the process earlier, so that we are not overwhelmed during the Christmas Season. Kathie Stine, Safe Environment Coordinator
