St. Augustine School has been named a Four Star School by the Indiana Department of Education for the 2014-2015 school year. St. Augustine School also received this designation for the 2013 – 2014 school year. To receive this award a school must be in the top 25th percentile for each grade level in which

students were tested in English and Math on the annual ISTEP assessment. Also, the qualifying school must have earned an “A” rating by the Indiana Department of Education accountability system during the year of the award and be accredited by the Indiana Department of Education. Out of eighteen elementary schools in the Diocese of Lafayette, St. Augustine is one of the five schools to receive the Four Star Award for 2014 – 2015 and the only elementary school in Jasper County to receive the Four Star designation. Second Collection: Seminarian Fund Appeal Support Those “Answering God’s Call”

By the grace of God, the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana currently has twenty seminarians. This certainly shows that God continues to call young men to the priesthood from our parishes. Please help support our seminarians by supporting their calling. This weekend and next, our parish will take a collection for the training of these men to be our future priests in the

Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana. Will you help support our seminarians? Please look at today’s bulletin insert, and use the envelope provided for your gift. St. Augustine’s goal for the campaign is $4,266.00. Please help us meet our goal!

A Note from the Parish Nurse: June is National Safety Month

Injuries are a leading cause of disability for people of all ages — and they are the leading cause of death for Americans ages 1 to 44. The good news is everyone can get involved to help prevent injuries.

During National Safety Month, St. Augustine is working with community members to help reduce the risk of injuries. This June, we encourage you to learn more about important safety issues like prescription painkiller abuse, transportation safety, and slips, trips, and falls.

Prescription painkiller abuse: Prescription painkiller overdoses

are a growing problem in the United States, especially among women. About 18 women die every day from a prescription painkiller overdose — more than 4 times as many as back in 1999.

Transportation safety: Doing other activities while driving — like

texting or eating — distracts you and increases your chance of crashing. Almost 1 in 5 crashes (17%) that injured someone involved distracted driving.

Slips, trips, and falls: One in 3 older adults falls each year. Many

falls lead to broken bones and other health problems. You can make a difference. Find out ways to help reduce the risk of these safety issues.

Safety proofing your home pamphlets are available at each

entrance and the church office. Please feel free to grab one.

For more information, contact Jocelyn Ventrello, Parish Nurse.

May he rest in peace.

Please pray for Charlie Mathew. Charlie passed away May 31st at the age of 81.

American Flag Ceremony The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will be

conducting an American Flag Ceremony this month. From now until the date of the ceremony, the K

of C will be collecting flags that are worn and torn, no longer serviceable. Flags can be placed in a container in the back of the

basement. All clean American flags being donated should be properly folded before placing them in the K of C container. We appreciate your help in making our planned event successful. If

you have any questions, please call Bob Evans at 765-426-7600. Thank you.
