Reflection Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Gospel today, the Beatitudes jar our sensibilities. Those who are poor, hungry, weeping, or persecuted are called blessed. This is, indeed, a Gospel of reversals. Those often thought to have been forgotten by God are called blessed. In the list of “woes,” those whom we might ordinarily describe as blessed by God are warned about their peril. Riches, posses-sions, laughter, reputation these are not things that we can de-pend upon as sources of eternal happiness. They not only fail to deliver on their promise; our misplaced trust in them will lead to our demise. The ultimate peril is in misidentifying the source of our eternal happiness. The Beatitudes are often described as a framework for Chris-tian living. Our vocation as Christians is not to be first in this world, but rather to be first in the eyes of God. We are chal-lenged to examine our present situation in the context of our ultimate horizon, the Kingdom of God.

God Bless, Deacon Dean

A note from Fr. Agnelo Pinto: Dear Friends, I am extremely grateful to each one of you for making time to participate in my farewell celebration with the expressions o feelings of love and gratitude. I will cherish each one of you in my heart wherever I go. I am equally thankful to Deacon Dean Dobbins, Ms. Vanessa Peña, the staff, Fr. William Rueger, Fr. Thomas Brosnan and Monsignor Robert Harris for making the celebration possible and efficacious. God Bless you all! Fr. Agnelo Pinto

WEEK 1 WEEK 2 WEEK 3

Refleksyon Nan Levanjil la jodi a, krich yo Beatitudes sansiblite nou an. The Beatitudes yo souvan dekri kòm yon fondasyon pou k ap viv kretyen. Vèwòm nou an kòm kretyen se pa yo dwe premye nan mond sa a, men pito yo dwe premye nan je Bondye. Nou defye egzamine sitiyasyon prezan nou an nan yon kontèks orizon final nou an, Wayòm Bondye a.

Bondye beni, Deacon Dean

Yon nòt ki soti nan Fr. Agnelo Pinto: Zanmi Chè, Mwen trè rekonesan pou chak youn nan nou pou fè tan pou patisipe nan selebrasyon mwen kite ak ekspresyon o santiman lanmou ak rekonesans. Mwen pral pran swen chak yonn nan ou nan kè mwen tout kote mwen ale. Se mwen menm menm rekonesan anvè Deacon Dean Dobbins, Madam Vanessa Peña, ak anplwaye, Fr. William Rueger, Fr. Thomas Brosnan ak Monseyè Robert Harris pou fè selebrasyon an posib epi efikas. Bondye beni nou tout! Fr. Agnelo PintoDyak Dean
