Wellspring Food Drive SOCIAL JUSTICE
Wellspring is a vital community resource. Begun as a thrift shop,
Wellspring has expanded as needs have been identified and today
offers more than 30 programs to assist people in overcoming ob-
stacles and improving lives. Wellspring now encompasses all the
property between S and T streets along Nantasket Ave. This newly
expanded and renovated property is the life saver for so many, not
just in Hull but for the south shore. With the addition of classroom
space on the S St. side of the building the Adult Learning Program
accommodates more students and provides expanded services
such as childcare and guidance counseling to support the needs of
the young adults in the program. The remaining space has been
redesigned to appropriately house counselors, expand the thrift
store that now includes larger items such as furniture, and an up-
dated food pantry that provides more than 120,000 meals each
year to neighbors in need. Many people in the community donate
many hours volunteering in myriad ways to ensure those who need
the most get the most.
This month we will be supporting the efforts of the Food Pantry.
Please bring your donations to the church and help feed the hungry
in Hull. Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, won’t you show yours
by giving to someone who has less?

Judy’s Garden at Wellspring supplies fresh produce to the Food Pantry (now called Aunt Dot’s Kitchen). Named for the won-derful Judy Belknap, this garden is a testa-ment to Judy’s com-mitment to thinking of others first. Interns from Holly Hill Farms helped with harvest-ing the garden.
Wellspring Multi-Service Center: Offering a hand up, not a handout to those in need.
SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT: Tues., Nov. 15th at 6:30 PM, “Cultivating Happiness,” with John Sheff. Does happi-
ness just happen? Scientific research suggests otherwise, that 40% of our happiness is within our control.
This lecture will focus on changes in our thinking and behavior that can cultivate happiness. Suggested do-
nation: $20. No registration required.
LISTENING TO OTHER VOICES: Nov. 17th at 7:15 PM, Listening to Other Voices, Michael Hunter Ochs & Alaa
Alshaham, “The Pursuit of Harmony.” History and culture might peg a Jewish American and a Muslim Pales-
tinian as enemies. But when Michael Hunter Ochs and Alaa Alshaham met in the West Bank in 2009 they
discovered friendship. Join them for an intimate evening of music and conversation. As they like to put it:
“Hear the story, hear the songs and feel the hope.” No registration required. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. Parking is also limited.
WEEKEND RETREAT: Nov. 18-20th, “Exploring Success and Failure in our Lives,” Katherine Burbank, MA, Obl. OSB. This retreat is prompted by a
small but thoughtful book by Maria Boulding, OSB, “Gateway to Hope: an Exploration of Failure.” Suggested donation $190 includes 2 nights’ ac-
commodation and meals. Registration required.*
HOLIDAY ART FAIR: Sat., Nov. 19th, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is the second year for this event at the Abbey. It will feature well-known, local
artists, fine art and crafts. Admission is free and all are welcome! Choose from paintings, sculptures, hand-carved birds, gourd art, pottery, pho-
tography, jewelry and hand knits. Just in time for the Holidays, you are sure to find a special gift for those on your gift list.

Advent Wreath Making Sunday, November 27th, 1:00-3:00pm
Advent is a wonderful season of preparation, but unlike the com-mercial aspects of pre-Christmas, Advent calls us to quiet ex-pectant waiting. It is a season of hope. Our children love rituals… teach them this age-old ritual of lighting a candle on the Advent wreath each Sunday for the four weeks of Advent. Come with
your family, make your own wreath while enjoying hot chocolate and cookies, and listening to carols. Please let us know if you plan on attending as we must order supplies ahead of time. (The cost is $25, payable on the day of the event.) Sign-ups will be occurring after all the weekend masses up to Sunday, November 19th.
Book Fair Weekend of
November 19th & 20th
The Daughters of St. Paul from Boston will be here at our
parish after all the Masses on the weekend of Nov.19th &
20th. These Media Sisters will bring a wonderful selection
of materials which they publish and produce. Be sure to
stop by and peruse their display: Spiritual reading, Lives of
the Saints, books for Children, DVD’s, music and more!
These wonderful items will assist you with the ongo-
ing faith formation of your family and provide good Spir-
itual reading as we conclude this Jubilee Year of Mer-
cy. Choose something to enrich your faith or for gift giv-
ing! Additionally you can check out their web-
site: www.pauline.org.
