Background info: John ‘JC’ Coutis is a remarkable Australian who was born with a severe physical disability in which doctors gave him little chance of survival. John has not only defied medical opinion, he has thrived and is acknowledged as one of the world’s most inspirational speakers. Without the lower part of his body, John embraces a full and positive life. He rolls around on his custom skateboard and uses humour to communicate some of life’s most important lessons. Johns sessions cover topics including resilience, courage, positivity, determination and respect. NAIDOC BASKETBALL CARNIVAL On Thursday 4th July 2 teams of Year 5 & 6 students participated in a carnival at Swan Active to celebrate Naidoc Week. Not only did the students have a great day of basketball, they were treated to a terrific demonstration of traditional Aboriginal dancing by two local dance groups. Big thanks to Adam Desmond from Bindar Sports for organising this event. We hope to participate again next year.

ROBO CLUB

On Friday the 9th of August 7 students from Year 5 and 6 will represent St Anthony's School at the State RoboCup Junior competition held at Curtin University. Our team has worked collaboratively to design robot and stage props, program their custom built Ev3 robot to perform a dance to music that they have edited. Their entry into this competition is the culmination of months of hard work and dedication. We wish these students all the best and commend them on their passion for robotics.

UNIFORM SHOP – Special Open Night Hours The Uniform Shop will be opening on the Wednesday 18th September from 5:45pm – 7.00pm for parents on the School Open Night.

RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children)

Is the process through which children are prepared to celebrate the sacraments of initiation - Baptism,

Confirmation and Eucharist and be welcomed into the Catholic Church. The RCIC program is

primarily intended for children, not baptised as infants, who have attained the use of reason and are of

catechetical age. The Church understands 'catechetical age' to begin at the age of reason, on or about

age 7. RCIC Baptism Classes will run again this term and begin next Wednesday 31st July from

4:00pm-5:00pm for 6 weeks. Please contact the Parish office on 9294 3504 for more information.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

Have you ever thought about becoming a Catholic? Or do you have friends who have expressed an

interest in finding out more about the teachings of the Church? If your answer is YES, please come

along to our inquiry night which will be held on Monday 5th August at 7:00pm in the Presbytery.

Please RSVP your attendance to the Parish Office 9294 3504.

ALTAR SERVER TRAINING To be an Altar Server is a special honour and a great privilege in the Catholic Church. Altar servers

today can trace their roots or genealogy to the order of Acolyte, a ministry that once was reserved only

for those who were going to be ordained priests. One can look upon being an altar server as a special

and unique ministry by which you, a young person, can help to spread the word and the love of Christ

through your actions and words. If you are interested in becoming an Altar Server, a new course will

commence soon. You must be Catholic and have received First Holy Communion. Please register your

interest with the Parish Office on 9294 3504.

ANTHONYCARE NEEDS YOUR HELP

One of our Parish families is in need of some meals. If you are able to help cook an evening meal

(enough for 2 people), could you please contact the Parish Office on 9294 3504 or even drop a meal to

the Parish Office and we will make sure they receive it. Many thanks in advance for your generosity.

ADVERTISING

A few advertising spaces have become available on our Church bulletin, if you are wanting to place an

advert or know someone who does, please contact the Parish Office on 9294 3504.
