ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA CHURCH LORAIN, OH

When it comes to Catholic Patron Saints, we

know the familiar ones, such as St. Christopher

for Travelers, St. Anthony of Padua for Lost Ar-

ticles, St. John Vianney for Priests, St. Jude for

Lost Causes, St. Rita of Cascia for Impossible

Causes, St. Francis of Assisi for Animals and

St. Isidore the Farmer for Farmers/Gardeners.

Personally, I’d recommend St. Katharine Drexel

for Deafness or Hearing Problems as the two

miracles for her beatification and canonization

were curing of the deaf. In times of trial try St.

Teresa of Avila or St. Bernadette, as they both

had to endure much difficulty in their lives.

However, if you are in the market for a new

Patron Saint, here are some more obscure/

unknown names and intentions. St. Raymond

for those Falsely Accused, St. Nicholas for

Children, St. Cunegund (Cunegaard) for Chil-

dren in Danger, St. Thomas Aquinas for Catho-

lic Schools, St. Dismas for Prisoners, St. George

for Boy Scouts, St. Winifred and St. Agnes for

Virgins, St. Cassian for Stenographers

(Secretaries), St. Gerard for Pregnant Women,

St. Matthew for Accountants, St. Luke for The-

atrical Professions, Doctors and Lawyers, St.

Sebastian for Athletes, St. Alphonsus Liguori

for Vocations and Arthritis, St. Acca for Phi-

losophers (and those who talk themselves out of

trouble), St. John Berchman for Altar Servers,

St. Susan for Chastity and Defilement, St. Cath-

erine of Sienna and St. Thomas the Apostle for

Doubters, St. Bona for Travel Hosts/Hostesses,

St. Werenfried for Vegetables, St. Norker Bal-

bus for Stammers, and St. Margaret of Cortona

for Repentant Women (Sinners). In any case,

find your favorite saint and pray together for

your needs.

~Rev. Edward J Smith

ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA CHURCH LORAIN, OH

ADORATION CHAPEL

“It is only by means of the Eucharist that we are able to live the heroic virtues of Christianity

such as charity to pardon one’s enemies, the love which enables us to suffer, the capacity to

give one’s life for another, chastity at all times of life in all situations, patience in the face of

suffering, and the apparent silence of God in human history or our very own existence.

Therefore, always strive to be Eucharistic souls, so as to be authentic Christians.” “Continue

on this journey of adoration bringing into the sight of Jesus Christ the anxieties, hopes, toils, and even the

sins of humanity.” ~ St. John Paul II

A wheelchair was made for St. John Paul II so he could move around freely. The chair was level with the

Tabernacle in his chapel. His secretary found the Pope embracing the Tabernacle. He asked the Pope

why. The Pope replied “I just don't know what else I can do to console Him.” “Perpetual Adoration of-

fers to our people the opportunity to join those in religious life to pray for the salvation of the world,

souls everywhere, and peace on earth. We cannot underestimate the power of prayer and the difference it

will make in our world.” ~ St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

SCHOOL UPDATES FROM THE PRINCIPAL

As we celebrate Black History Month, I am reminded of Michael Jordan’s quote, “I can

accept failure. Everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” These words

speak to me because of the message that it sends. We have all lived our lives with failure.

If it be in our work, family or other means, the key in all failures is to learn and not give

up. Here at Saint Anthony’s we try to teach that to our students as well as our staff. We

are not afraid to make mistakes, nor are we afraid to fail. What we never want to do is to

stop trying to be the best person that we can be. ~Mr. Julio Alarcon

MAINTENANCE UPDATES ON SCHOOL HEAT

ARTICLE COMPLETION

The next planned repairs to the

system are to clean and rebuild

certain steam traps on the west

heating loop and adjusting the

valve control in the Kindergarten

room. Currently Kindergarten is

the hottest room in the school and

is the only room in the school to

have both heating loops pass through it. Being able

to better regulate the temperature in Kindergarten

will allow heat to be directed to a colder room.

IN NO GREATER LOVE, YOU WILL EXPERIENCE THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE CHRIST HAS FOR YOU!

We often hear about Jesus’ passion & death, but imagine experiencing

them for the very first time. In No Greater Love: A Biblical Walk Through

Christ’s Passion, we are going to walk step-by-step with Jesus on His jour-

ney from His agony in the garden to His crucifixion on Calvary. Along the

way, we will unpack the biblical background to these events, the prophe-

cies, and most especially, the ways Jesus is inviting us to walk more

closely with Him today.

No Greater Love is a five-part Bible study program that begins Wednesday, March 4th at 7 pm at

St. Vincent de Paul Church, Elyria. Cost is $25 per person for materials. Scholarships are available.
