Message from the desk of the Pastor

Dear Parishioners,

We are beginning to see a change in nature as we look towards winter. Some of the trees are changing colors and soon their leaves will die. The grass and fields are no longer deep green. Nature itself has begun its cycle of refurbishing itself by first dying.

We are like nature. November will point us towards our goal….Jesus Christ. November will lead us directly into Advent and the new litur-gical year.

The first Sunday of Advent is a preparation for celebrating Christ’s birth among us and a reminder of his second coming in glory, at the end of time. The readings contain some valuable pointers warning us to be ready to welcome him into our hearts and lives today and every day.

How should we do this? Jesus came to share his love, forgiveness, peace and happiness with the world. If we share these gifts of his love with the people we meet everyday by small acts of kindness or goodness, then we will be ready to fully enjoy the celebrations which take place at Christmas and at the end of time.

Today’s Gospel gives us some advice: “Stay awake”; “Be on your guard”; “Heads up”….”Keep your eyes open”….

During Advent the church invites us to make a fresh start at building a closer relationship with Christ. Prayer, penance and works of mercy are necessary preparations for the coming of the Lord.

Advent provides an opportunity to look around at what needs to be put right, to see how we have failed, and to assess the ways in which we can do better. If prayer has been neglected, now is the chance to begin anew. Whatever our past, God is only too willing to look lovingly upon us. His arms are always outstretched to welcome us home.

Advent is above all a time to deepen our friendship with God by thinking of his great love for us in sending his Son as our Savior. It is only fitting that in return we should show our Love for him. If we do so our vision of Christ will become clearer.

May God bless you.

Sincerely yours in Christ

Fr. Joseph

Who can find a virtuous women? For her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10 God knows who we are going to be with in the future. He knows what's best for us and loves each and every one of us. In the bible he compares us to rubies because He adores us so much and we are delicate just like the ruby. We need to look up to Mary because she knows what we go through. She's someone we could look up to in

this horrible world. I don't know why girls are mean to each other and start rumors that aren't true. We should be nice and kind to one another and help each other out. Someday I hope girls are nice to one another because God has made each of us unique in our own way. ~~Kylie

SHARE YOUR BLESSING: Don’t forget about St. Antho-ny’s Catholic Church Share Your Blessings campaign. Choose a tag off the tree in the back of the church. Flyers are by the tree for your guidance. The gift is due back at the church by Noon Thursday, Dec 10th. Thank you for your sup-port in helping make Christmas for the less fortunate extra joy-ful this year.

I discovered that my sins had created a spiritual racket that drowned out the gentle whis-pers of God to my soul; God had never actually abandoned me, but I needed repentance and sacramental grace to rea-waken all that was good and beautiful in me.

Hour of Grace: Blessed Mother appeared to Sr. Pierina Nov. 24, 1946 through Dec. 8, 1947 in Italy. Blessed Mother told the sister she wanted to be known as “Mystical Rose,” and that an hour of grace should be kept at Noon Dec. 8th, in all Catholic Churches of the world. The Blessed Mother wanted this to be known through all Italy and the entire world. Blessed Mother appeared to ask for penance and atonement for the sins of impurity. Please Pray for Priests

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around your priests and through her intercession strengthen them for their ministry. We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words, “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5) May your priest have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary’s most chaste spouse. May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross. May your priest be holy, filled with the fire of your love seek-ing nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls. Amen.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.
