Dear Parents,

Our first week is now a memory…and a pleasant one at that! Thanks to our fantastic teachers and staff, we have had a very smooth opening to this school year. Thank you, parents, for your cooperation in following the drop off and pick up procedures. This seems to be going well also. Don’t forget, if you are here in morning with your child at the opening assembly, we can use your help with opening car doors and welcoming students at the Irving or Funston Ave. gates. This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours!! Please sign up to help.

Our Back To School Nights will take place next Wednesday for 7th and 8th grade parents and Thursday for our Kindergarten through 6th grade parents. Because we do not have the video transmission ability as in past years, all parents should go to the church to hear the opening presentations. Following the church presentations, parents will go directly to their child’s classroom for the teacher’s presentation. There will be two presentations, so if you have two children, you can attend session one for one child and then go to hear your second child’s teacher during the second presentation. Again, if you have any compliments, concerns, or comments, please do not hesitate to call or email me.

STAR RENAISSANCE TESTING BEGINS – 9/5STAR Renaissance Testing for our students will begin the week of Sept. 5th. Please be sure not to schedule any doctors’ appointments or shadow visits during those next two weeks. Also, please be sure that your child arrives to school on time and has eaten a good breakfast and gotten to bed on time.

UNIFORM EXCHANGE-POSTPONEDDue to the retrofit construction, we will not have our uniform exchange before our SAPTO meetings until our January SAPTO meeting.

HOUSE /APT. NEEDED IN SF One of our school families is looking to rent a two bedroom house or apartment. If you know of anything available, please give the school office a call or email us at

PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS:Our 2nd grade teacher aide, Mrs. Denise McCarthy, lost her father, Ronald Mirkovich, over the summer. Please keep Mrs. McCarthy and the entire Mirkovich family in your prayers.Additionally, Caylee (2nd grade) and Chelsie (1st grade) Chin’s grandmother, Martha Chin, recently passed away. Please keep Martha and her entire family in your prayers. It is our Catholic/Christian belief that both Mr. Mirkovich and Mrs. Chin are now realizing Christ’s promise of eternal salvation and happiness in heaven seeing God face to face. God bless them both.

ABSENCE, MEDICAL APPTS. AND MEDICATIONSWe encourage ALL families to read the 2017-2018 Parent Handbook with respect to Absences, Medical Appts., and Medications. To report a student absent, please call the school cell at (415) 290-9766. Remember, you need only call the office on the first day of your child’s absence.

TARDIES OR PICK UPSDuring school hours, parents should drop off or pick up their child in the Athletic Dept. office located off of Funston Avenue. Walk up the ramp through the “pink” iron gate and the AD office is the first open door on the left. Mrs. Finnegan is using that space as her office temporarily.

ALL SCHOOL FORMS ARE NOW DUEThank you to all our parents who have returned the school forms in a timely fashion. There are a few packets still missing. Please be sure to get them in by THIS FRIDAY. The Parent Service Card is going home today! Please be sure to ask your child for the Green Service Card.

TDAP, HEALTH EXAM AND IMMUNIZATION RECORDSALL immunization records are now due! Notices will be sent home if we have not received the vaccination record of your child.

CONGRATS TO ELIZABETH NIP AND AILEEN WARD Elizabeth Nip (8-1) had an exciting summer of dance at the World Ballet Competition in Orlando, placing in the Top 10 of her category. At the NYC Dance Alliance (NYCDA) National Finals in New York, she won 1st place as National High Score Soloist and was selected 1st Runner-Up as National Outstanding Dancer. Aileen Ward (3-2) placed 19th (out of 68 competitors) in all of North America at the Irish Dance Nationals over the summer. Congratulations, Aileen and Elizabeth for a job well done!
