Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe November 20, 2016 I rejoiced because they said to me, “We will go up to the house of the Lඈඋൽ.” — Psalm 122:1 SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Monday: The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary; Thirty-fourth or Last Week in Ordinary Time Tuesday: St. Cecilia Wednesday: St. Clement I; St. Columban; Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro Thursday: St. Andrew Dũng-Lạc and Companions; Thanksgiving Day Friday: St. Catherine of Alexandria Saturday: Blessed Virgin Mary GOD’S HEALING JUSTICE An old expression holds that the sun-warmed stone heals. Perhaps. But Malachi explains that only dark, sun- less days are in store for those who do not find a place for God in their lives. Conversely, he tells us that the warmth and light of God’s healing justice await those who fear the Lord. That’s a pretty comforting notion—especially now in the already short and growing even shorter days of No- vember. It’s the sun-warmed stone, and then some. Paul speaks to us of justice as well, but points out that it is not a passive thing. To be treated justly, we need to do our fair share. If we are diligent and perse- vere we will be rewarded with and by the fruits of our labor. Lastly, Luke, too, tells us to persevere—in faith, this time—and our lives will be secure in God regardless of how we are treated by our enemies. TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — David is anointed king of Israel (2 Samuel 5:1-3). Psalm — Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord (Psalm 122). Second Reading — The Father delivered us to the king- dom of his beloved Son (Colossians 1:12-20). Gospel — The repentant criminal receives Jesus’ promise of Paradise (Luke 23:35-43). Best Advent Ever-Wrap Presents and be Present We prepare for everything we consider important in life. And that includes Christmas. We shop for gifts, bake cookies, deco-rate our trees, and visit family and friends until we’re ready to drop. These activities are all part of the season, but at its heart, Advent is about getting ready to encounter Jesus. Opening your heart to him. Getting to know him. Becoming a better husband or wife, father or mother, son or daughter, friend, etc. This Ad-vent, join me and your fellow parishioners for Best Advent Ever: Rediscover Christmas, a free email program from Dynamic Catholic that will help you slow down and focus on what really matters during the busy season. Each day, you’ll receive an email with practical tips, free Christmas music, or an inspiration-al video from Dr. Allen Hunt and other Catholic voices of our time. The program is simple. All you have to do is sign up at BestAdventEver.com. Your experience of Christmas will be un-like any you’ve experienced before. Are you ready for your best Advent ever? Sessions continue on Sundays in the Holy Family Center 9:15-10:15am

Tour of Peace The World Apostolate of Fatima's Centennial U.S. Tour for Peace is

underway and coming to Benton. The historic tour, marking the 100th anniversary of the ap-paritions of Our Lady at Fatima, will feature the world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue, traveling world-wide for nearly 70 years. Our Lady of Fatima Church in Benton is hosting the tour on November 30. She will arrive between 9-10 am, followed by Mass at 11 a.m. in the church. We will also have a candlelight procession and rosary with Our Lady of Fatima at the courthouse in the evening at 6:30 p.m. to send her on her way. It will be an extraordinary occasion of healing, hope and grace. Please join us that day to hear the story of Fatima and venerate this beautiful statue that set out from Fatima in 1947 to bring the graces of Fatima to all who might not ever be able to make a pilgrimage to Fatima, Portugal. We bring the pilgrimage to you! Hundreds and favors and graces, including cures, and countless conversions are associated with the image. The presence of this special statue (sculpted by Jose Thedim in 1947, based on Sr. Lucia's description of her encounters with Our Lady) is a great gift to our community. Contact the parish office at (501) 315-5186 for more information.Learn more about the tour and the statue at www.fatimatourforpeace.com.

Let us Know If you are going to be in the hospital please call the church office at 753-3977 so we can visit you while you are there.
