Pa s to r ’ s P o s t i n g s I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress

and joy in faith, 26 so that I may share abundantly in your

boasting in Christ Jesus when I come to you again.

Philippians 1:25-26

If there’s one thing that’s clear after a month of preaching through the

book of Philippians, it’s that Paul loves the Philippian church.

He praises the people in Philippi for their openness to what God’s doing

among them. In the verse above, he says that what he’s really looking

forward to is a chance to get together with them in person so they can all

“ooh” and “ahh” over the stuff God is accomplishing through their

ministry.

He can’t wait to “share abundantly in [their] boasting in Christ Jesus.”

This “boasting in the Lord” is something Paul talks about in several

places in his writings, and it’s a practice he probably picked up from the

prophet Jeremiah, who brought a word from God that said:

Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom, do not let the mighty boast in

their might, do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth; but let those who

boast boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the

Lord; I act with steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in

these things I delight, says the Lord. (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

In a few days—on October 5 at 7:00 PM—we’ll be gathered as a

congregation to have a Charge Conference. Whatever else gets

accomplished that night, the primary purpose of this Charge Conference

is to do what Paul and Jeremiah are talking about. To boast of all the

stuff that God is doing at St. Andrews Parish. We will gather to share in

God’s goodness and declare God’s faithfulness. To say that we have seen

God at work in Sunday School classes and in prayer groups. To declare

that we have seen Jesus at work feeding the hungry through our food

pantry and satisfying spiritual hunger through our various Bible studies.

To proclaim that we have seen God’s hand at work in exercise classes and

mission trips, fellowship meals and worship services, choir anthems and

children’s bell choir offerings.

So I encourage you to come to worship on Wednesday, October 5 at 7:00.

Together we will boast in the Lord—the one who acts with steadfast love,

justice, and righteousness in the earth, the one who delights in seeing God’s

own people attend to the things that matter most.

St. Andrews has responded graciously to the call for

Operation Christmas Child since its beginning. I am trusting

that we will continue. This program helps children who have

nothing and lets them know that Jesus loves them. You can make a child

happy by putting together one simple shoebox of toiletries, books, toys,

etc. to help support this program. I trust that St. Andrews will collect

many shoeboxes this year in support of OCC. Put smile on a child's face

by making a contribution to this worthy cause. Shoeboxes are due by

Sunday, November 13th.

Happy Fall from all the Ladies at Nimble Fingers! Although we took two months off this summer, we stayed busy with

our knitting and crocheting. We completed lap robes for Hospice and

coverlets for the Ronald McDonald House which were delivered this

past week. Not wanting to forget our church family, our ministry

purchased no-iron tablecloths to use at our Fellowship Suppers.

We had a good surprise last Thursday with two new members joining

our ministry. Our number is now 21, but there is room around our

table for more. Please join us on any Thursday from 10:00 am to

12:00 pm. We welcome new members.

After six years of service, Sandy Rice has submitted her resignation as choir director. Sandy has specifically requested

to leave on a quiet note, and the SPRC wishes to honor her request. We thank Sandy for her hard work and dedication as choir director at St. Andrews Parish, and wish her well as she

continues her journey.

N ot e o f t h a n k s . . . A very special THANK YOU, to all that gave up your Saturday afternoon, to

attend my surprise birthday party on September 10. It was truly a surprise!

I was told by Betty Woods' family, who took me out to Saffron's for birthday

lunch, that one of them had lost their diamond earring and someone at the

church had found it. [Please pray for them] I fell for that, knowing that was

'clean-up day'. If you were not invited, please forgive Billy, he tried to contact

everyone, I believe. It is hard being sneaky to please a person with a party.

It was wonderful!
