Automated Tithing: A New Way to Give

We live in an online world where you can do just about everything on the Internet – including paying your tithe.

Some of our parishioners utilize our church’s automatic recurring debit or credit card payments because of the convenience. It’s so easy to have a deduction once a week or once a month. Contributions may also be made to second collections. They can be changed or put on hold at any time. If you are interested in getting started, please contact Debra at the church office and she can help with getting this started.

Palms and Sacramentals

Please bring all your old palms and sacramentals and place them in the designated box in the narthex. They will be used to make ashes for Ash Wednesday.

Meal CareCalendar

As you know, Fr. Guillermo is devoting time to the care of two parishes and has little time to spare these days. Some days he doesn’t have time to stop and prepare food for

himself. Hopefully, we can help alieve some of the pressures he has by providing nutritious meals a few days a week. Consider helping provide meals for him as fulfilling the 5th precept of the Church (to help to provide for the needs of the church according to one’s abilities and station in life).

Please sign up through this Internet site: www.carecalendar.org/logon/278819 Security Code: 9884

Dates that are available are in red. They turn green whenever you sign up. Thanks!

Funeral and Memorial Masses

At St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church we want to journey with you during the difficult time when your loved one passes away. As members of one Body and one Family in Christ, we have the privilege, as well as the sacred duty, to pray for the repose of the souls of your family members and friends. We also are united with you in solidarity praying that God may bring you peace and comfort. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, even a funeral or memorial mass, is first and foremost an act of worship to the Most Blessed Trinity. We want to offer God a beautiful, respectful, and worthy act of adoration. Our regular funeral times are 10:00am and 1:00pm Monday through Friday.

Please, do not set a date or time with the funeral home until you call our parish office. We need first to be certain that the church and the priest are available.

For more information, please call the office.

Verification of 2018 Contributions

If you require a written verification of your 2018 contributions to St. Andrew Catholic Church, it will be available after January 31st. Please contact the parish office and your statement will be prepared and mailed to you.

SIMPLY LOVE

"There are in the end three things that last: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love." —1 Corin-

thians 13:13

Life is simple. The meaning of life is love, for God is Love (1 Jn 4:16). All we have to do is to love God with all our hearts (Dt 6:5), love ourselves (Mt 22:39), and love our neighbors (Mt 22:39). God is easy to love sometimes (see Lk 4:22). But then He speaks the truth in love (see Eph 4:15), and we desire to throw Him over a cliff (Lk 4:29-30). Moreover, we live in the midst of an epidemic of self-hatred. Abortion, eutha-nasia, alcoholism, addictive behavior, the idolatry of TV addiction, and major influences in our culture of death are obvious or subtle manifestations of self-hatred. Finally, to love our neighbors means to love everyone, including our enemies (Mt 5:43-44). How can we relate to God, Who is Love, when we are not in love or even loving? "We, for our part, love because He first loved us" (1 Jn 4:19). Do a one-minute crucifix novena. Look at a crucifix for at least one minute a day for nine days. Let the Spirit reveal in a new way Abba's love for you (Gal 4:6; Rm 5:5).
