PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

O God, who by the Immaculate Concep on of the Blessed Virgin Mary, did prepare a worthy dwelling place for your Son, we beseech You that, as by the foreseen death of this, Your Son, You did preserve her from all stain, so too you would permit us, purified through her intercession, to come unto you. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end. —AMEN

RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS Next weekend, December 7th and 8th, parishes

across the Diocese of Joliet are encouraged to support the annual Retirement Fund for Religious. Religious brothers, sisters and order priests have dedicated their lives to ministering to those in need. Today, with longer life expectancies and

rising health care costs, the challenge to provide retirement funding is compounded. Now, parishioners across the diocese can help care for those in their hour of need. Collection proceeds offer financial assistance and resources to help eligible communities meet the ongoing needs of senior members.

    St. Faus na—Love and Mercy—Monday, December 2

If you missed the first showing on October 8, a second date has been added! A movie about the image and message of Divine Mercy that will be shown in over 800 movie theaters across the United States for one night only! In 1931, Jesus appeared to Faus na Kowalska as the King of Mercy. Clothed in a white robe and emana ng two large rays from his side, one white and one red, He asked Faus na to paint this image of Himself along with the phrase, "Jesus, I trust in You" and to spread the message of mercy around the world. He promised that anyone who venerated this image would not perish. The gripping new docudrama LOVE AND MERCY

presents unknown facts and recently disclosed documents that shed new light on the vision of Faus na.

Aided by scien fic analysis, the film reveals how the Divine Mercy image and the Shroud of Turin were compared to one another to stunning conclusions. Drama cally recreated scenes between Saint Faus na and her confessor Father Michał Sopoćko traces the story of the origins of the image and how the devo on to Divine Mercy was born and spread throughout the world despite a ban of the devo on by the Catholic Church. Shot in the U.S., Poland and Lithuania, the film is a compelling hybrid of drama za on and documentary-style storytelling that will leave viewers in awe of this spectacular account of divine friendship.

This film is 2 hours long and begins at 7:00 PM. Local movie theaters include AMC Naperville 16, Cinemark at Louis Joliet Mall, and Cinemark at Seven Bridges. Find theaters/order ckets at www.fathomevents.com/events/faus na-love-and-mercy.

FEAST OF OUR LADY OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL

On November 27, 1830 Mary appeared to St. Catherine Laboure in the motherhouse of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul, in Paris. The Blessed Mother was standing on a globe with streams of light coming from her hands. Around her were the words “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” Our Blessed Lady told Sister Catherine that a medal was to be made of this picture. Soon, because of all the wonderful graces obtained by those who wore the medal, it became the “Miraculous Medal.” The Vincen an Family has always been rooted in a special devo on to Mary, and the Miraculous Medal is one of our treasured gi s.

“I do not know how to find words for what I experienced and perceived, or for the beauty and the splendor of those magnificent rays (coming from the hands of the Blessed Virgin). Mary told me, “They are the symbol of the graces which I shed on those who ask me for them. Have a medal struck according to this model; all those who wear it, especially if they wear it around the neck, will receive great graces, and these graces will be abundant for those who wear it with confidence.” (From St. Catherine Laboure’s account of the appari ons, November 27, 1830).

There are a number of additional requirements. Please contact the Parish Office for additional information.

    FUNERALS

Arrangements for a funeral are usually made through the Funeral Director at a funeral home of your choice.

    PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK

Hospitals do not inform churches when parishioners are patients. You should ask an immediate family member to contact the Parish Office to request a visit from a priest when sickness occurs or death is imminent. Please contact Barb Sanders to arrange for Communion to be brought to the sick at home, to a hospital, or nursing home.

I would like to have my house blessed.

Please contact me to make arrangements.

  • St. Andrew the Apostle We Care Food Pantry

The St. Andrew We Care Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 10:00 am. until 12:30 p.m. for any eligible family in Romeoville in need of food assistance. Our pantry is open only to Romeoville residents so proof of residency and an ID must be shown upon sign-in each week. If you are a parishioner of St. Andrew and you find yourself in need of food assistance, you are more than welcome to come to the We Care Food Pantry also. Proof of residency is a utility bill with your name and address on it plus your Driver’s License or State of Illinois ID. That must be brought in each time you come for food assistance.

The Pantry is located at 219 Arlington. For further information, please contact Shirley Grzenia at (630) 945-1317. This is the new phone number to call for food pantry inquiries and assistance. Thank you and God Bless.
