Strong Motion Records from Syria: A Preliminary Analysis

This paper describes current activities in the field of strong-motion data collection and analysis in Syria centered on the strong motion network of the Syrian National Seismological Network (SNSN) run by the General Establishment of Geology and Mineral Resources (GEGMR). The network comprises both free-field stations and stations installed in buildings. Station locations are presented and a preliminary analysis of the available records is made. The recorded data are used to derive preliminary attenuation relations and to highlight evidences of site effects.
