IMAGE ANALYSIS: CAN BECOME A WINING TOOL

I read in a book , It is simple to be happy but it is difficult to be simple.

Happiness! The elusive thing in one's life, I think we are living life to be happy. We are putting our every best effort to be ourselves and made our fellow beings happy. Happiness is a condition of the mind which different people perceive in different things. For some materialistic possessions are a source of happiness, while for others a solid bank balance is enough to give them immense pleasure, a synonym of happiness. For some nature with its entire splendor is an eternal source of happiness. Likewise family is another source of happiness for others.

It is hard to believe but nevertheless true that for some twisted minds, others adversity is their reason for happiness. Some find absolute solace playing musical instruments dancing singing or engaging in hobbies related to fine arts while others revel in competition, bragging etc.

Many of us who are rich, successful and fulfilled are also sometimes unhappy. This is caused due to negative thoughts and feelings which cannot be conquered though we possess every known source of happiness. Sometimes we put in lot of hard work but still are unable to obtain the anticipated results. Rather than feeling low, if we remain persistent and committed to a disciplined effort to succeed one day we will see ourselves differently. Let's take an example of Sachin Tendulkar. He is playing for the country since last 20 years. During this period he has seen failures in performance and criticism from the Critics. Still his persistent effort has given the answer to the critics.

In order to be happy you have to learn to appreciate the simple things of life. Real happiness comes from simplicity and we all should strive to live as simple a life as we can. Take one day at a time and try to make everyday life a sweet, simple and charming affair. Let go the bonds of complexity that hold you down and you will realize that though it is simple to be happy, it is not at all difficult to be simple too. Humility and submission to God is the first step towards simplicity. There is no point in becoming egotistical because life is a mystery and what it is today may not be tomorrow. So live one moment at a time enjoying and celebrating it to the full. Every second of the ticking clock should remind you to smile more, love more and to serve more because who knows you might not have the next moment.

You do not need anyone or anything to be happy. If you have a simple heart you possess all the ingredients needed for the wonderful emotion and feeling which is elation. So let go of all the tentacles of worry, anguish and sorrow and let your heart sing like the nightingale. You will be surprised that you really needed only your own self all the time to be eternally happy and satisfied because you realize that under the false wrappings of social conduct you truly are a simple childlike person with a sincere and faithful heart which sees only good in everyone and everything. In conclusion, it is so true to say that keep a green bough in your heart and God will send a singing bird.

FAILURE CAN BE AND SHOULD BE, A MOTIVATOR

“Everyone at one time or another has felt like a complete failure. Many have allowed the fear of failure to destroy them. Actually, the fear is more and more destructive than failure and in any time of life fear failure can defeat you before you get started”

What make us so afraid of failure? It's worry about what people would think. What will they say? We assume that because we have made one or more mistakes, we are a failure. This is a wrong assumption. How many people are completely successful in every department or part of life? Not a single one. The most successful people are the ones who learn from their mistakes and turn their failures in to opportunities. Every scientific invention, everything has resulted from a series of failures. No one succeeds without them.

A failure means you have to put some extra effort. That is good for us. Failure gives you an opportunity to learn a better way to do it. A failure teaches you something and adds to your life experience. That is very helpful. Failure is an event, never a person; an attitude; not an outcome; a temporary inconvenience; a stepping-stone. Our response should be to determine just how helpful it can be.

What happened to you the last time you grow up to the plate, this time it is a new day and at this moment you are preparing to make it a winning one. That is motivation.

PROFESSIONALISM AT WORKOver the last 64 year after Independence, we have come a long way in the industrial growth of the country, especially the period after economic liberalization has been very helpful for the growth of industry & business.

Still, among many areas, the area which has not been as progressive we would like it to be is 'Work Culture' in the Indian settings. There is no doubt, work culture has improved a lot over years, but it is confined to big industrial houses & MNC's. When we look at govt. &small privately managed organizations we realize that there is still a lot to be desired.

The realization lets us think why we do not have a professional work culture by default in our country. Either we are lacking in ethics or have failed to see what past has given us. Or this is the way Indian organizations have been developed. Our ancient model focused on high production, then came humanistic and societal approach but still there is pinprick somewhere.

We quite often see whenever there is some occasion like marriage or other functions, people give helping hands, even those who do not have good relationship with each other. So, why cannot we bring such team spirit and co ordination in work place? In other words, we need to realize our ancient values & ethics in proper context and try to work with these values in work places to make Indian offices a better place to work at.

In management courses, cases are used extensively as a teaching tool. A key reason is that cases provide active learners with opportunities to use the strategic management process to identify and solve organizational problems. Thus, by analyzing situations that are described in cases and presenting the results, active learners (i.e., students) become skilled at effectively using the tools, techniques, and concepts that combine to form the strategic management process.

The cases that follow are concerned with actual companies. Presented within the cases are problems and situations that managers and those with whom they work must analyze and resolve. As you will see, a strategic management case can focus on an entire industry, a single organization, or a business unit of a large, diversified firm. The strategic management issues facing not-for-profit organizations also can be examined using the case analysis method.

th thCase Analysis Workshop was organized in our department on 16 -17 September 2011. I want to share my views that I learnt from this workshop. Case analysis is like a doctor-patient relationship. A patient can be of two types i.e., a small child patient who can't speak, but we need to find out the problem to diagnose correctly and adult patient who can speak and tell about the problem. Similarly there are two types of cases one is open ended (small child) and another is close ended (adult). It means case is like a patient i.e. if doctor find out the problem and give the incorrect medicine it will harm the patient, in the same way if the analyst finds out the problem but give the incorrect solution then there is wrong analysis. When writing a case study analysis, you must first have a good understanding of the case study.

CASE ANALYSIS: DOCTOR-PATIENT RELATIONSHIP

Before you begin the steps below, read the case carefully, taking notes all the while. It may be necessary to read the case several times to fully grasp the issues facing the company or industry.

1. Investigate and analyze the company's history and growth.

2. Identify strengths and weaknesses within the company.

3. Gather information on the external environment.

4. Analyze your findings.

5. Identify corporate level strategy.

6. Identify business level strategy.

7. Analyze implementations.

8. Make recommendations.

Sir told us to concentrate on the following points while preparing analysis for a case:

Basically, the case analysis method calls for a careful diagnosis of an organization's current conditions (as manifested by its external and internal environments) so that appropriate strategic actions can be recommended in light of the firm's strategic intent and strategic mission. Thus, appropriate strategic actions help the firm to survive in the long run as it creates and uses competitive advantages as the foundation for achieving strategic competitiveness and earning above-average returns.

Management Story

Ek din ek kutta jungle main raasta kho gaya. Tabhi usane dekha ek sher uskii taraf aa raha hai. Kutte ki saans rookh gayi. "Aaj to kaam tamaam mera!" usne socha. Phir usne saamane kuchh sookhi haddiyan padi dekhi. Woh aate hue sher ki taraf peeth kar ke baith gaya aur ek sookhi hadii ko choosne laga aur zor zor se bolne laga, "wah! Sher ko

khaane ka mazaa hi kuch aur hai. Ek aur mil jaaye to poori daawat ho jayegi!" Aur usne zor se dakaar mara. Is bar sher soch mein pad gayaa. Usne socha "ye kutta to sher ka shikar karta hai! Jaan bacha kar bhago!" Aur sher wahan se jaan bachaa ke bhaaga. Ped par baitha ek Bandar yeh sab tamasha dekh raha tha. Usne socha yeh mauka achha hai sher ko saari kahani bata deta hoon - sher se dosti ho jayegi aur usse zindagi bhar ke liye jaan ka khatra dur ho jayega.. Woh phataphat

Can u imagine the quick management by the DOG... Kutte ne sher ko aate dekha to ek baar phir uskii taraf peeth karke baith gaya aur zor zor se bolne laga, "Is Bandar ko bhej ke 1 ghanta ho gaya, saala ek sher phasaa kar nahi la sakta!"

Moral of the story: There are many such monkeys around us, try to identify them.

On a rainy day like today, a 17 year old boy went to a telephone booth, and called up a number written in his hands. His clothes were rugged, and he seemed to be working in some soil place.

A lady's voice was audible from the other side,

She said, “Hello”.

Boy, ” Hello Mam, good Morning to you, can I have two minutes of yours”.

Lady, “please tell me”.

Boy, “Mam, I got your number from the local grocery shop, and came to know that you are looking for a worker who can maintain the grass in your lawn. I am looking for the job and specialize in it.”

Lady, “Probably you have got the wrong person number, because, we do have a great lawn, but we do have a worker who is working on it”.

Boy, “Mam, I am sorry, but, would you allow me to show you my work, I am sure my services will be much better than your worker”.

Lady, “We are satisfied with the work of the worker, we are not looking for a change”.

Boy, “Oki, Mam, for my information, can you let me know what is the amount you pay to your worker”.

Lady, “We pay him 1000 Rs, for a month, in which he maintains the grass four times.”

Boy, “Mam, I believe you are paying too much, here is my offer, I will charge only 700 Rs. for a month, and will check as well as maintain the grass 8 times for you”.

Lady, ” Sorry, Boy, we are happy with our worker”.

Boy, ” Mam, I request you, I really need a job, and I have a 5 years' experience in Lawn maintenance and can really do wonder to your lawn, a tleast give me a chance”

Lady, ” I understand your state, but I am sorry, I am really happy with the work at my lawn, thank you”.

Boy, “Oki Mam, thank you for your time, Have a great day”.

An old man, was listening to this complete conversation, and as the boy hung up the phone and was coming out of the booth, the old man called him and said,” I believe you are in some problem, I was listening to your conversation, and it seems you really are in need of a job, if you wish, I also have a small lawn, and I can pay you 500 Rs for a month, what say?”.

The boy smiled and said, “Sir, thanks for your concern”.

Actually, the lady I was talking to is the one who's Lawn I take care of. I work on her lawn since last 2 years.

The old man got puzzled and asked, “Then why you were pleading”.

Boy, “Sir, I was checking whether my services and behaviour is good enough that my client will not be ready to exchange it for any reason whatsoever”.

The Old, man smiled and the boy went away whistling.
