‘Integrating Club Fitting & Coaching’ – Paul BuchananPaul Buchanan is a former USPGA Tour Player and a former order of merit winner on the Michelob Tour. In addition to coaching a number of leading US Tour & LPGA players, Paul has trained with several Top US Instructors and has also worked in a variety of industry roles - most recently as a leading educator in coaching and club fitting. Paul is passionate about making club-fitting easier and more fun, and will inspire PGA Pro’s to win back market share in the increasingly competitive hardware sales category. Paul will discuss and demonstrate how to integrate club-fitting technology with coaching, how to improve your club-fitting business by employing a range of fitting systems, and how to contribute to the growth of the game with effective club-fitting.

‘The Future of Golf Coaching & Student Management’ – Peter ClarkPeter is a member of the PGA of Australia & the PGA of Holland. Peter will demonstrate how golf professionals can use a state-of-the-art student management system to enhance business, save time and generate more income. Using the latest technology, Peter will show delegates how simple and easy it is to send videos, advice and homework to students so that students have the necessary tools to greatly improve their golf. Peter will also demonstrate how students can send videos (from an iPhone) to professionals for easy analysis on an iPad, and will touch upon how to use social media as a cost effective marketing strategy.

‘The Relationship Between Skills Tests & On-Course Performance’ – Sam RobertsonSam is a Lecturer and PhD Candidate at the School of Exercise and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University, WA. Sam has completed a number of recent studies such as ‘Development of the Nine-Ball Skills Test to Discriminate Elite and High-level Amateur Golfers’ and ‘Swing and Launch Parameters in Approach-Iron Shots Hit with Varying Height and Trajectory in Golf’, the latter being the basis for his presentation at this years’ International Society of Biomechanics in Sport Conference in Melbourne. With a distinct lack of appropriate skill assessments available in golf, Sam hopes to share his research with delegates and provide valuable insights into the use of reliable measures to quantify ‘real’ change in your athletes and clients.

‘Practical Applications in Putting’ – Gary Barter & Marty JoyceGary is the Director of Teaching at the Australian Golf Club and was named NSW Teacher of the Year in 2001 and 2007 and Australian PGA Teacher of the Year in 2001. His close colleague, Marty Joyce is the current Head Coach of the Victorian Institute of Sport and is also a member of Golf Australia’s National Coaching Panel. In 2009 Marty took out the Victorian PGA Teaching Professional of the Year award. Together, both Gary and Marty will provide an insight into ‘what makes the best putters the best putters’. In doing so, they will provide practical tools and techniques to improve the putting of all ages and abilities.

‘On the Tee with Su-Hyun Oh’ – Matt CleverdonMatt Cleverdon is a AAA-rated Teaching Professional based at the Kingston Heath Golf Club. In addition to a growing list of domestic clients, Matt has also established a base in Chengdu and subsequently provides coaching and consulting services to golf ranges and facilities in China. Matt is joined by Su-Hyun Oh, an incredibly talented, world-ranked amateur and one of Matt’s current National Junior Squad players. Matt will provide a valuable insight into the management and preparation of an emerging superstar.

The Breakout Sessions

The Break Out Sessions

‘What Women Want’ – Virginia Irwin & Peter KnightVirginia Irwin is a AAA-rated Teaching Professional based at Indooroopilly Golf Club. Virginia will join forces with PGA Master Professional Peter Knight in providing a session that focuses specifically on ‘What Women Want’ – that is, what women want from golf lessons and coaching programs. Supported by research (initiated by Golf Victoria and endorsed by the PGA), Virginia and Peter will discuss strategies to increase the participation and development of women and girls in golf through effective promotion and instruction.

‘The Equilateral Triangle of Putting Success’ – Chris FoxChris Fox is a Teaching Professional based at the Riverside Oaks Golf Club in Cattai, New South Wales. Chris is certainly passionate about putting and returns to the Summit with an insight into what he believes are the three main elements that need to be mastered in order to become a complete putter. Chris will discuss how each of the Stroke, Speed and Aiming corners all interrelate and will provide delegates with drills which are designed to restore equilibrium to an unbalanced putting system.

‘Why Giving More Lessons Can Improve Every Area of Your Business’ – Scott BarradellScott Barradell is the Head Professional at Northern Golf Club in Victoria. In a session which is predominantly focused on the business benefits associated with lessons and related teaching services, Scott explores the value of the PGA brand; selling & exploiting yourself from a marketing perspective; the importance of developing and improving relationships; and how keeping up with technology can contribute to the growth of your business.
