Srinagar, Sep 2: Alleging that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Meh-booba Mufti has toed Rash-triya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) line, state Congress president G A Mir Wednes-day said that present coali-tion government has made Kashmiris beggars as it has failed on every front.

“From the statement given about the participa-tion of separatists in talks, it is clear that Mehbooba has toed RSS line,” Mir told Greater Kashmir.

He said that PDP used to harp on Self-Rule, battle of ideas and Indo-Pak talks. “It has now started show-ing its colour and Mehbooba is speaking the language of RSS and BJP.”

Lashing out heavily on the coalition government, JKPCC chief said that relief was right of Kashmiri people but present dispensation has failed to help the flood hit people. “For last eight months PDP says relief will be announced tomorrow. That tomorrow never came

and people of flood hit Kash-mir are suffering badly,” he said. “The government has failed to get relief package from centre.”

Mir said that PDP played politics over flood relief and managed assembly elections amid devastation in Kash-mir due to the floods. “They were hell bent for assembly elections and they man-aged it. They did not allow the previous dispensation to help the flood victims,” he said. “PDP did not leave any stone unturned for the commencement of elections in times when Kashmir was devastated by floods.”

He said that PM Naren-dra Modi is not ready to provide package to Jammu and Kashmir despite JK coalition government plead-ing with a begging bowl. “Even Mufti has failed to get annual plan approved from the Centre,” he said.

The JKPCC chief said that PDP-BJP government has failed on all fronts. He said that developmental agenda of present dispen-sation has proved a hoax. “During the elections, they promised a lot to the people of J&K,” he said adding that PDP-BJP government has not taken any positive step for the development of J&K.

The senior Congress leader also alleged that PDP-BJP government tried its best to scuttle the visit of Congress vice-president to J&K.

Srinagar, Sep 2: MLA Lan-gate and President Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP), Er

Rasheed, today brought two resolutions for the upcoming assembly session; one seeking protection of Article 35A of Indian Consti-tution and other seeking IIT, IIM and IIMC for Kashmir.

After filing the resolutions in the assembly secretariat, Er Rasheed in a statement asked all political parties especially NC and PDP to rise above personal interests and dislikes and support the resolution seeking protection of Article 35A, which bars non-State subjects from pur-chasing land in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Cutting across political

lines, the state needs to be united to protect the remains of the autonomy and other constitutional guarantees provided to Jammu and Kashmir under Indian Constitution. All the con-spiracies hatched by radical forces against this impor-tant Article of the Consti-tution need to be defeated. There is a serious need to tell New Delhi not to erode

the already eroded autono-my further and not to take Kashmiris for-granted. State assembly needs to rise to the occasion not only for protect-ing rights of the people of the state but also to safeguard its own credibility whatsoever left, as assembly has always acted as a collaborator to curb the rights of people of the state,” Rasheed said.

Er Rasheed further said that Kashmiris are not against establishing AIIMS, IIT and IIM in Jammu but under no circumstances will compromise on the rights of Kashmiris. He appealed PDP and NC to facilitate the resolutions for taking them up for discussion in the assembly if they are sin-cere towards the rights of the people of the state.

Flood victims suffering because of Govt’s apathy: Sagar‘PDP-BJP coalition added insult to their injury’

Srinagar, Sep 2: National Conference on Wednesday lashed out at the PDP-BJP Govt for its ‘criminal apathy’ towards the flood victims of Kashmir. NC General Sec-retary Ali Muhammad Sagar said the lack of any visible effort and political will from the Government to rehabili-tate and compensate the flood victims had led to untold miseries and sufferings.

Sagar was speaking at a high-level Central Zone Meeting of the party leaders at NC Headquarters in Srinagar. The meet-ing was attended by NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, senior NC Leaders Mubarak Gul, Mohammad Sayeed Akhoon, NC Central Zone President Ali Mohammad Dar and Srinagar District President Peer Mohammad Afaq besides other leaders of the party.

"Mufti Sahib had promised swift rehabilitation of the flood victims. One year has come to pass and there isn't any sign of rehabilitation. Is this Mufti Sahib's swiftness and seriousness? It is highly tragic that flood victims in a lot of areas continue to be without shelter and sources of livelihood while the PDP-BJP Government continues to be in constant denial about their miseries", NC General Secretary said.

He said the Central Government had shown clear double standards in dealing with the floods that ravaged Kashmir. "Uttarakhand received a different treatment for floods which were comparatively less in sever-ity, impact and destruction caused. They received the assistance they sought in the very first month after the floods there. But J&K is still waiting due to indifference of the Central Government even a year after the floods."

"We will continue to struggle against and protest this criminal atti-tude and indifference towards the floods victims and even come out on the roads in support and solidarity to the flood victims as and when needed," Sagar said.

K-resolution key to solving all other problems: Zaffar

Srinagar, Sep 2: Senior pro-freedom leader and Jammu & Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) chair-man Zaffar Akbar Bhat on Wednesday said the reso-lution of Kashmir dispute could guarantee the solu-tion of all other issues between India and Pakistan.

Zaffar today visited Chewdara, Razwen and Makhama in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, addressing public gatherings.

“Kashmir is the main reason for the confrontation prevailing on bor-ders between the two nuclear countries. India and Pakistan can’t resolve the bilateral disputes without resolving Kashmir dispute as everything stems from Kashmir,” Zaffer said, adding, “Military solution to Kashmir dispute is impossible as both the countries posses nuclear weapons.” GKNN

Srinagar, Sep 2: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has strongly condemned the slapping of PSA on Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, brother of Front founder Muhammad Maqbool Bhat.

“JKLF strongly condemns the implementation of yet another PSA on the younger

brother of JKLF founder and father of nation Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Bhat. He has been slapped fifth PSA in a row and lodged in Kupwara Jail,” a spokesman of the Front in a statement said.

Describing these tactics as ‘undemocratic and ille-gal’, the spokesman said, “Zahoor Ahmad has been tol-

erating the hardships of jail for a long time but so-called rulers must remember that heirs of Shaheed Muham-mad Maqbool Bhat cannot be intimidated by such mean tactics.”

The spokesman warned the government of serious consequence if anything untoward happened to Zahoor.

Justify appointment of MS GB Pant: HC tells Govt

Srinagar, Sep 2: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has asked govern-ment to explain reasons for appointing Shafqat Khan as officiating Medical Superintendent of GB Pant Hospital here in violation of recruitment rules.

Hearing a petition by two doctors challenging appoint-ment of Dr Khan as in-charge medical superintendent, a bench of Justice Hasnain Massodi directed Commis-sioner Secretary Health & Medical Education to file affidavit by September 7.

“The eligibility criteria as also merit are to be adhered to and followed even where the post is proposed to be filled up on stop-gap basis. The respondents cannot ignore the recruitment rules in the name of inter-cadre deputa-tion,” the court said.
