Talking to Greater Kashmir the family mem - bers of late Bhat said: “PDD officials were informed about the ongoing repair work in the area and were asked to keep power supply off from 10am to 5pm. But all of the sudden the power was turned resulting in electrocution of Bhat and his on spot death.” They said, “Now PDD is claiming that he died after he fell from the poll. But medi- cal reports clearly state that he died of electric shock.” They said that Police have registered an FIR 60/2013 under section 304A RPC. “The police also assured us that they will investigate the matter properly," they added. Family of the victim urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to look into the matter and pro- vide adequate compensa- tion to the next of the kin of deceased. The commissioner secretary Health and Medical Education Department issued separate orders of transfers and promotions on Wednesday. Governor releases “Bedaari” APSCC delegation calls on Governor Srinagar, Aug 29: A seven member del - egation of the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) called on Governor N N Vohra, here on Thursday and presented to him a memorandum of their demands. The demands presented by the deputation led by Jagmohan Singh Raina, Chairman of the Coordination Committee, included, interalia, granting minority status to the Sikh community in the State as per the National Commission for Minorities Act, filling up of vacant posts of Pun - jabi teachers in the various Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools in the Kashmir, setting up of a Punjabi Department in the Kashmir Uni - versity, special employment package for the unemployed youth of the community and the provision of a provincial authority to issue Per - manent Resident Certificates in favour of those persons who had to leave their villages due to militancy but are living within Kashmir. Stresses For Producing Literature For Children Srinagar, Aug 29: Governor, N N Vohra released a stage play titled “Bedaari” at a function held at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday. This Play, in Pahari language, has been written by Parvez Manoos, a known author of the State. The Governor emphasized the need for taking all the required mea- sures for the promotion of various languages and literature in the State and highlighted the importance of books and literature being produced in various languages of the State, par- ticularly comics. He assured support for such innovative initiatives. The Governor complimented Manoos for his laudable contribution for the enrichment of Urdu and Pahari languages and wished him continuing success in his literary pursuits. Manoos spoke about the books he has authored so far and those to be published in the near future. Earlier, Syed Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari, Chairman, J&K Pahari Culture and Welfare Forum, in his welcome address, thanked the Gov- ernor for taking keen interest in the socio-economic advancement of the people of the State, particularly Pahari speaking people. POLICE CLARIFY Srinagar, Aug 29: Police Thursday said that alleged militant attack was not on Police Station Awantipora and a senior officer had left the area two hours before the incident. “Absolutely it was not an attack on Police Station. Firing took place hundreds of yards away from Police station and from that place, Police Station can’t even be spotted,” Station House Officer (SHO) Awantipora, Tariq Ahmad said. He said the matter is being investigated, however some of the reports have suggested that gunmen had come from Padgampora Pul- wama side. “Most probably they returned,” he added. The Police officer said the senior officer had left the area at 1pm and attack took place at 3 pm.

Governor releases “Bedaari” APSCC delegation calls on Governor

Srinagar, Aug 29: A seven member del-egation of the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) called on Governor N N Vohra, here on Thursday and presented to him a memorandum of their demands.

The demands presented by the deputation led by Jagmohan Singh Raina, Chairman of the Coordination Committee, included, interalia, granting minority status to the Sikh community in the State as per the National Commission for Minorities Act, filling up of vacant posts of Pun-jabi teachers in the various Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools in the Kashmir, setting up of a Punjabi Department in the Kashmir Uni-versity, special employment package for the unemployed youth of the community and the provision of a provincial authority to issue Per-manent Resident Certificates in favour of those persons who had to leave their villages due to militancy but are living within Kashmir.

The Governor observed that he had urged the State Government to establish a Commis-sion to look to the interests of various minori-ties in the State and had been given a positive assurance. Regarding their other demands, he said that they would receive due attention.

Stresses For Producing Literature For ChildrenSrinagar, Aug 29: Governor, N N Vohra released a stage play titled “Bedaari” at a function held at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.

This Play, in Pahari language, has been written by Parvez Manoos, a known author of the State.

The Governor emphasized the need for taking all the required mea-sures for the promotion of various languages and literature in the State and highlighted the importance of books and literature being produced in various languages of the State, par-ticularly comics. He assured support for such innovative initiatives.

The Governor complimented Manoos for his laudable contribution for the enrichment of Urdu and Pahari languages and wished him continuing success in his literary pursuits.

Manoos spoke about the books he has authored so far and those to be

Srinagar, Aug 29: Chairman of Peoples Political Front (PPF) Fazal Haque Qureshi has nomi-nated Hassan-ul-Bana, rep-resentative of PPF in Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK), as vice-chairman of the Front.

In a statement here Qureshi said that decision to nominate Bana as the vice-chairman has been taken due to his hard work and sincerity towards the Kash-mir movement.

Srinagar, Aug 29: A spokesman of the Kashmir University Teach-ers Association on Thursday said that (KUTA) elections were held recently and 82 percent teachers cast their votes for various posi-tions of KUTA office bearers and executive members.

“As per the result notification issued by the returning officer; Professor Muhammad Yusuf Ganai of the Department of Histo-ry, has been elected the President of KUTA. Others elected include: Dr. Salahuddin Tak (Vice-Presi-dent), Dr. Ehtishamul Haq (Gen Secretary), Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Shah (Joint Secretary/Treasurer) and Prof Akbar Masood, Prof Syed Rukaya, Dr. Muhammad Altaf Ahanger, Dr Ishtiyaq Hus-sain Qureshi, Dr Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Khan-day, Muheet Ahmad Bhat, Tariq Abdullah and Tariq Ahmad Lone as Executive members,” the spokesman said.

Srinagar, Aug 29: Police Thursday said that alleged militant attack was not on Police Station Awantipora and a senior officer had left the area two hours before the incident.

“Absolutely it was not an attack on Police Station. Firing took place hundreds of yards away from Police station and from that place, Police Station can’t even be spotted,” Station House Officer (SHO) Awantipora, Tariq Ahmad said.

He said the matter is being investigated, however some of the reports have suggested that gunmen had come from Padgampora Pul-wama side. “Most probably they returned,” he added.

The Police officer said the senior officer had left the area at 1pm and attack took place at 3 pm.
