Agricultural engineers apply their knowledge of engineering technology and science to agriculture and the efficient use of biological resources.

Agricultural engineers have many Work Tasks including plan, supervise and manage the building of irrigation, drainage, flood and water control systems; design, develop and manage the manufacture of agricultural machinery, equipment and instrumentation, such as sensing, measuring and recording devices; supervise the construction of farm and other related buildings such as controlled environments and storage facilities.

Agricultural Engineers have four main skills/ abilities that are necessary to excel. One skill/ability is the ability to identify a problem, analyze it, and then solve it. Another skill/ability is to have good oral and written communication. Furthermore you have to an liking for computing and designing. Finally you must be able to accept responsibility and work without supervision.

You need a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering for the minimum requirement. But if you want to do really good you have to have a master’s of a doctoral degree.

Agricultural Engineer can anywhere from about $40, 000 to $110,000 a year depending of how good you are. The better you are the higher you may get per year.

The job Outlook for being a Agricultural Engineer is fairly good. The percentage growth from is at a nice 12%.

Being an Agricultural does not appeal to me for many reasons including: I do not have good oral skills, in order to excel in such a job you have to have a somewhat of a long education, an d I don’t like to analyze problem and figure out a way to solve it unless it is some sort of brain teaser.
