INTRODUCTIONOverview of the System

Page 3: SREA Training[1]

Why was the system designed?

• to address problems in SReA data processing, reporting and transmission/submission;

• to enable decision-makers at the school, division, region and national levels make full use of SReA data;

• to support national implementation of SReA

Page 4: SREA Training[1]

What are the components of the system?

An automated SReA Scores Encoding Template for use at the school level that could:

• be easily reproduced and disseminated to the schools;• be ran (executed) on basic hardware and software and

requires basic IT competencies of the users;• eliminate possible encoding and computational errors

including mismatches in pre-test and post-test results;• readily transform encoded results to usable summaries;• facilitate convenient and speedy transmission of school-

level reports to the division level.

What are the components of the system?

Data Management Programs for use at the division and central levels that could:

• be easily reproduced and disseminated to the divisions;• be ran (executed) on basic hardware and software and

requires basic IT competencies of the users;• eliminate possible encoding and computational errors

by integrating functions for easy and accurate merging and integration of school-based data;

• automatically generate readily usable (viewable and printable) pre-programmed summaries of data;

• facilitate convenient and speedy transmission of division-level reports to the national level data repository.

What are the components of the system?

  A Web-Based Data Repository that could:

• be accessed whenever, wherever internet connection is available;

• support SReA implementation by making available background information, memorandums, guidelines and other important information related to SReA;

• be accessed to view updated division, regional and national SReA data.

SReA Scores Encoding Template & School Validation Program

For this workshop, you’ll need:• a laptop computer,• your own copy of the “Manual and User’s Guide”,•the CD containing the template and the validation program,• SReA school data.

For this workshop, you are expected to:• observe rules of courtesy,• read, familiarize selves and be guided by the manual,•direct queries and relevant concerns to the facilitator assigned to you,•consult the facilitator assigned to you only after reading the manual, • complete all the exercises.

SReA Scores Encoding Template & School Validation Program

1. Locate, open and familiarize selves with the SReA Scores Encoding Template;

2. Accomplish the School Profile Sheet using your own school’s data; 3. Encode at least 50 pupils’ SReA Pre-test scores;4. Install the SREA School Validation Program on your computer;5. Validate the Pre-test Scores and lock the Pre-test Scores

Encoding Sheet6. Encode the SReA Post-Test Scores of the 50 pupils;7. Lock the Post-Test Scores Encoding Sheet and package the

Template for submission to the Division Office

ASSIGNMENT:•Each group should prepare at least three (3) filled-up school templates. Each template should:

- have both pre-test and post-test scores;- be validated, locked and packaged for

submission.•Have the templates ready for use for tomorrow’s workshop. •Prepare a short report answering the following questions: - In which domains are the pupils weakest?

- In which domains are they strongest? - Which of the feeder preschool programs performed the best? - Which of the feeder preschool programs performed the least? - Based on the summarized SReA data, what can you recommend to improve the pupils school readiness for the succeeding school years?

SReA Division Data Management Program

1. How many schools in the division have submitted SReA data? This constitutes what percentage of the total schools in the

division?2. How would you describe the schools which have submitted

SReA data? - in terms of location, school type, preschool programs3. In which SReA domains are the pupils strongest? In which

domains are they weakest?4. Based on the partial Division SReA data available to you, what

recommendation(s) can you make to improve the pupils’ school readiness?
