666666666666660) We saw Bill and Vert Morrell at the
Convention in September apparently having a real great time seeing friends, dancing and taking in the sights.
Attention you all Salutes to Bill Appleby who was
commissioned a Kentucky Colonel at his recent Army Division Reunion.
Several couples from Perky Promenaders enjoyed another October weekend at Mt. Manor in the Poconos with Ralph Trout and Wes Morris doing the calling and cueing.
Pocono Squares will have Stan Burdick at their Christmas Party on December 17th. Stan is the Editor of American Square Dance Magazine.
Lochwood Contra will have the Johns-tons plus many of their members attending the Don Armstrong Holiday in Binghamton, N.Y. in November -therefore they have cancelled their dance in Skippack that month.
The Dixie Derbies enjoyed a fine summer of air conditioned dances at the Keith Valley Middle School as well as ten weeks of workshops at the Leman Methodist Church. They also held a picnic at Comly's Grist Mill.
We are sorry to say that William Cramer of Leisure Squares has passed away after several trips to the hospital. We offer our sympathy to Marge, his wife, and all of his friends at Leisure Squares.

BALTIMORE IN '84
It will be Baltimore in '84 for the thousands of Square Dancers coming from all over the U.S. and Foreign Countries for the 33rd National Square Dance Convention. The Host Federation for the Maryland Convention to be held June 28, 29, and 30, 1984, is the Mason-Dixon Square Dance Federation and the General Chairmen are Peter "J" and Jennie Zukauskas ( pronounced Zoo-Cows-Cus, as Jennie explains.)
Peter "J" and Jennie are no newcomers to this type of committee work. In 1977 they were an enormous help to the 26th National held in Atlantic City and throughout the years they have worked on numerous projects in their local Federation; the MDSDF.
Vic and Peg Wills, Chairmen of the 16th National held in Philadelphia in 1967 and Steve and Dorothy Musial, Chairmen of the 26th National held in Atlantic City in 1977,their advisors from the National Executive Committee, will be acting as Peter "J" and Jennie's "BRAIN TRUSTS". Because the theme event took place during the War of 1812, the Convention will have Colonial Overtones. Generally, the theme will incorporate the Flag of Ft. McHenry, the birthplace of ourNational Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner". A replica of the 15 Star and 15 Striped Fort McHenry flag was flown over Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine especially for presentation at the Delaware Valley Convention this year. A specially designed costume is used to promote the convention within a Federation and neighboring Federations as well. The costume functions much like a Logo or Trademark which is used to identify a product, service or event. The

NEWS FROM CALLERLAB
For the quarter beginning October 1, 1981, CALLERLAB has selected two new movements for use in workshops at Mainstream Dances. The movements are CHAIN DOWN THE LINE, written by Don Beck and STAR THE ROUTE, authored by Don Williamson. The definitions follow :
CHAIN DOWN THE LINE: from a right-hand two-faced line or left-hand ocean wave, centers trade while ends adjust as necessary. Then the ends courtesy turn the centers. Ending formation is facing couples.
STAR THE ROUTE: From a static square, those designated (heads or sides ) will complete the call. Example: the heads will Right Hand Star 3$ to meet the couple on their right with a Left Hand Star one full turn . . . heads will meet back in the center of the set to Star Right I/2 Way to meet the other sides with a Left Hand Star one Full Turn . . .Heads meet in the center for a Right Hand 3/4 Star back to home position. It takes 32 beats to execute STAR THE ROUTE.

(Baltimore In '84 Continued) costume is optional, however it is worn by those who wish to show their support. The costume colors, dark blue on light blue, are flattering to at least 90 percent of the people wearing it and after hours of consideration, the Colonial Look of the Costume was created. Packets of material are available.
We will be serving as the Delaware Valley Liason to keep you up on the details of our neighboring Federation Convention. Helping us to spread the word throughout the Tri-State Area are: Walt and Ruth Henderson, Mid-East Penn, Bud and Betty Wolf, Penn-Del; Jim and Doris Howatt Bucks-Trenton and we will serve the Penn-Jersey District.
Please look for further details in future publications about exciting upcoming Convention events.

The other new Club is Keystone Twirlers. They will be dancing at the Doyle Elementary School in Doylestown on the first, third and fifth Fridays. The level is Plus 2 and they will have various callers starting with Buck Fish. Our best wishes go to both of these Clubs for many successful years of dancing.
