Priest saw hope. I think not.

At long last the sleeping awoke

came on Sunday, found the church in smoke.

The Bishop came down to sort out the mess

beams burnt down, embers scorched his dress.

A silver cross had melted in the ground.

stained glass windows were shattered all around.

Vicars dismay was no lightening.

sun burst through the future was a brightening.

Former senile people look back and laugh

where the church once was is now an epitaph.
