Once you have joined the Taylor YMCA, you will be issued a membership key tag. Your membership key tag is a valuable piece of identification and needs to be brought with you every time you come to the Y. Having your key tag with you ensures your access to the facility and discourages individuals without membership from trying to use the Y. All members, regardless of age, must have a membership key tag. A replacement key tag is $5. Individuals falsifying membership, allowing others to use their key tag or similar behavior will be subject to membership suspension or termination.

finAnCiAl AssistAnCe

We think everyone should have the opportunity to be a part of the YMCA. Our scholarship program provides youth, families, and adults, with a demonstrated need, the opportunity to join the YMCA. The YMCA scholarship program is supported through contributions to the Strong Kids Campaign and provides funds to those in need within our available resources. Scholarship information is kept confidential.

YMCA We build people CAMpAiGn

Did you know that the YMCA provides financial assistance for memberships and programs to families in the Greater Elgin community? Financial assistance is possible due to the generosity of YMCA members, local businesses, and the community. Because of these donations, the YMCA is able to adhere to its mission of turning no one away. This year consider making a tax deductible gift to the Taylor Family Branch YMCA. Ask us about our Strong Kids Campaign to find out how you can support a child or family in need.

Adventure Guides/Adventure prinCesses The purpose of the YMCA Adventure Guides Program is to foster companionship between a parent and a child. This program is designed for dads to spend quality time with their children one on one doing activities like campouts, hayrides and pine derby car races. Dads and children are organized into circles with other dads and children from their neighborhood areas. Once a month, each circle will have a monthly meeting at a circle member’s house or school and do an activity with their children. Several circles make up an Expedition. Several times a year the Expeditions will have special events. We have two expeditions that make up our Federation. The Princess Expedition is for dads and daughters in K-5 grade and the Guides Expedition is for dads and sons in K-5 grade.

How to JoinIf you are interested in finding a circle near you, e-mail the head leaders of the expeditions. Dan Olsem (Dad and Son) at [email protected] or Fraser Hill (Dad and Daughter) at [email protected]. Provide the dad’s name, child(ren)’s name, address, school child(ren) attends and two phone numbers where the father can be reached. A Navigator (leader of a circle) will contact you with the date and time of their next meeting. Registration and payment is done through the circles.

Aims1. To be clean in body and pure in spirit.2. To be friends always with my dad/daughter/son.3. To love the sacred circle of my family.4. To listen while others speak.5. To love my neighbor as myself.6. To respect the traditions and beliefs of all people.7. To seek and preserve the beauty of Our Creator’s work in forest, field, and stream.

Fee:Member: $40/family + $10/childProgram Participant: $50/family + $10/child

Additional cost can be incurred for the special events; however, attendance is not required at all special events. Adventure Guides/Princesses runs during the school year with registration beginning in September and the program ending in May. You may register at anytime throughout the school year.

SUMMER DAY CAMPS

The YMCA provides children with summer adventures that promote a healthy spirit, mind and body. Children will spend their time indoors and outdoors as experienced staff lead campers in a wide variety of activities each day, including arts and crafts, games, sports, songs, swimming and weekly off-site field trips (traditional day camps only).

Our camp is American Camp Association (ACA) accredited, which means that we maintain the highest standards regarding program quality. We believe the most important elements of a positive day camp experience are the safety and well-being of your child. That’s why our camps have the following:

•Professionally and thoroughly trained staff including CPR/First Aid, Emergency Procedures, Child Abuse Prevention Trainings and more.

•Our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

•Recommended ACA ratios of staff to campers: age 3-5 years 1:6, age 6-8 years 1:8, age 9-14 years 1:10.

www.elginymca.comWe build strong kids, strong families, strong communities.

Good fun, in good hands.

When kids experience YMCA Day Camp, they experience something new every day. Like the power of a

positive mentor, the confidence that comes from trying... and succeeding, and the importance of healthy,

long-lasting friendships. Of course, they don’t know this. They just think they’re having a whole lot of fun.
