Dear members of Zion, the last four years of ministry have been very rewarding and I thank God for all that he has taught me and wrought through the ministry of word and sacrament here in Yorkton. As our family leaves to go to Fisherville, ON, we want to express our gratitude for all of your prayers and support. We know that God will take care of you, His dearly beloved church. As we depart, I leave you with an encouragement to turn to the holy scriptures for strength in these days. May they be a constant comfort to you of the promises of God and of his love for you in Christ. For you will read in the Bible the very words of God who promises that he will never leave nor forsake you (Heb. 13:5). May His Spirit strengthen and uplift you each day. God be with you all! In Christ, Pastor Cottrill
Pastor Andrew Cottrill

Sunday, September 12 at 10:00
Reverend David Haberstock, our Regional Pastor, will have a worship service with Holy Communion.
Immediately after worship, we will have a hotdog and ice cream luncheon. We will then have a Voters' Meeting with Reverend
Haberstock taking us through the Pre-call process.

Elders and Church Council met on Wednesday, August 25. We will continue to use video services from other congregations or have a lay service with a video sermon from perhaps former pastors or vicars at our regular worship time of 10:00. We did not have a vacancy pastor in place at that time.
LAYETTES
All the layette items that were so generously donated in 2019 and early 2020 have finally been found a home. On Saturday, August 14, Reverend
Randy Heide of LAMP (Lutheran Association of Missionary Pilots) loaded all the boxes and bags into his vehicle and took them to Warman. They will be distributed to the various remote communities in the far north as LAMP flies
in to take VBS materials both in the summer and at Christmas. Many of these communities have been affected by the recent forest fires and the
need is great for material and especially for spiritual support.
HEIDUK MEMORIAL SERVICE
A Memorial Service for Rose Heiduk will be held on Friday, September 3, at 2:00 PM at Zion with
Reverend Barry Wood officiating. This will be followed by interment for both Ed and Rose at Memorial
Gardens. Following this, the family invites everyone to join them back in the Parish Hall for a luncheon and a
time for fellowship.

CLWR invites you to pray for the people of Haiti, and to consider making a gift as we join leading Canadian aid agencies – through the Humanitarian Coalition – in launching an appeal to raise funds and rush emergency assistance to those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
With numbers expected to rise, it is so far reported that more than 1,400 people were killed and over 6,000 injured by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that devastated parts of the country on Saturday. Hundreds are still missing, thousands of families have lost their homes and schools, bridges and other vital infrastructure were destroyed. Rescue efforts are being further hampered by tropical storm Grace, all at a time when the country is already grappling with acute poverty and food insecurity, political unrest and COVID-19.
In response to this disaster, CLWR's partners on the ground are already responding by helping ensure emergency shelter, sanitation, hygiene and trauma care for those affected.
Please pray for those affected and for the partners and community members who are rushing to bring help and comfort.
CLWR is accepting donations now on its website at clwr.org/Haiti. Donations can also be made by phoning our office at 1-800-661-2597 (Monday to Thursday, 9:00 – 16:00 CDT) or by mailing a cheque to 600-177 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0W5.

For many weeks now, some of our members have not been able to receive our emails.
It seems it has been mainly a problem with the SaskTel server suspecting our emails
are spam (and not the kind you get in a can! ) To try to fix this, add our email
address ( [email protected] ) to your allowed senders list. If you are unable to do
this, we suggest you contact SaskTel and ask them for steps to help you as this is
what we have directly gotten from them. We have tried everything we can think of, and
know of, on our end to try to remedy the solution, but are still having some problems
with about a dozen or so emails being returned. Another option would be to use a
different email address. For example, instead of @sasktel.net perhaps @hotmail.com
or @outlook.com or @gmail.com. Something else that might works is to to log into your
sasktel e-mail account. On the left hand side , click on "preferences" which is a wheel.
then click on "spam", go down to "trusted senders" , enter on domain or address
"hotmail.com" . Then any hotmail.com mail will and should go through.
The property committee is looking for offers on the following items:
8 hp snow blower Leaf blower / picker upper
Whipper snipper

Farewell
On August 22nd, with deep regret, we bid farewell to Pastor Cottrill, Sarah, Audrey and Bruce.
Following Pastor’s last service, we had a luncheon of
hotdogs and ice cream treats to thank them for being part of the Zion family for the last 4 years. We wish them God’s
blessings in their new parish at Trinity, in Fisherville, Ontario.

We like it here! Do we really want to leave?
On Monday August 23rd, some of our members were blessed with having not one, but TWO “former” pastors of Zion! Pastor Dan Moeller and Pastor Andrew Cottrill reminisced and shared some stories about Zion with us and
shared some laughs. Pastor Dan is planning to leave Canada around the beginning of the last
week in August. We wish him a happy retirement and safe travels! His new address will be :
Rev Daniel G. Moeller 28515 Jensen Road Danbury, Wisconsin
54830 Phone # 715-866-4733
He says to not to be afraid to visit, but to please bring perogies, shishliki and maple syrup since he has developed SOME Canadian tastes
(however, I do know he still doesn’t like Ketchup chips, so I don’t recommend taking those!)
