Summer Workshops 2015Stained Glass: Two Saturday Workshop – $55Saturdays 10am-12:30pm, May 30 and Jun 6Artist-Instructor: Sara Gray. Age 15-Adult. Supplies included.

This class is for all levels. Have you ever wanted to try your skills at making a stained glass piece? Or maybe you want to get more instruction to fine tune your skills? This fun, fast paced class will send you on your way to becoming a glass artist and you will leave class with a finished piece. Instruc-tion covers cutting, grinding,foil methods and soldering.

Preschool Art Inside-Out – $15 /adult-child pairSaturday, Jun 6, 9:30-11amArtist-Instructor: Amy Korpieski. Ages 3-6 with an adult. Limit 10 child-adult pairs. Supplies included.

Art outside! Preschool age children with their accompanying adult will experiment with art methods well suited to outdoor expression. Share in the Museum’s sculpture trail, nature’s palette and tactile experiences. Take home a set of project ideas to kick off a creative summer.

Family Watercolor Workshop – $25/child-adult pairSaturday, Jun 27, 10am-12:30pm Artist-Instructor: Kelley Booze. Ages 6-12 with an adult, Limit 10 child-adult pairs. Supplies included.

Looking for a bonding activity with your child? Do you want to encourage creativity? Join Springfield artist and CCAD graduate, Kelley Booze, and learn the fundamentals of watercolor painting. Instruction will include basic drawing and fool-proof painting techniques. No experience or special talent is expected (of child or adult). Come have a great time together and take home a collaborative painting that you and your child will cherish. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Essentials: Putting Power into Painting – $100Saturday, Jul 18, 9am-5pm Artist-Instructor: Lynda Pauley. Ages 15-adult, limit 10.Experienced beginners through advanced.

This workshop will provide essential skills and knowledge for consistent, striking, engaging paintings. Using the galleries at the Springfield Museum of Art, students will analyze paint-

ings to better understand WHY a painting is good, beautiful or powerful. Studio time will include instructor presentation, demonstration and one-on-one instruction as students work on the essentials towards creating masterful work. Back to School Art Achievers – $90 Tuesday-Friday, Aug 11-14, 9:30am-12:30pm Artist Instructor: Tricia Tallman. Ages 8-13. Limit 10.Supplies included. Bring a water bottle and snack.

Get back in the school groove with challenging and fun art experiences. For new and returning students, learn the fun-damentals of art through 2-D and 3-D art projects. Gallery visits allow students to sketch and engage with art. No spe-cific experience or talent is required, but this ongoing class is targeted to those who may eventually seek identification as gifted in art or participate in advanced, AP or IB Art.

Summer Community Art EducationSummer Field Trips – Hands-on Fun!Bring your camp or summer youth group to the Museum! Guided field trips with gallery games and hands-on activities are available for community groups this summer in our beautiful, air-conditioned museum. Two field trip options, from $3.50 to $6.50 per child, are scheduled Tuesdays through Fridays between 9:30am-4pm. Pre-school pro-grams and groups with special needs are welcomed. Also enjoy free self-guided scavenger hunt maps for our outdoor sculpture trail. Visitors can round out their trip with a car-ry-in brown bag lunch on our landscaped grounds. Nature Explorers Camp – $70 Monday-Thursday, Jul 20-23, 9am-4pm at Snyder Park, Friday, Jul 24, 9am-4pm at the MuseumAges: 7-12

This camp is a collaboration between NTPR and Springfield Museum of Art. Daily art instruction is provided by an SMoA art educator. Campers will learn about the great outdoors through hands-on experiences with nature and art. Learn about plants and animals through guided exploration, artistic observation, projects and play.
