Letter from the President
Dear SOT FS3 members,
2019 SOT Annual Meeting is just around the corner. I am looking forward to meeting with you again in Baltimore! Here are some of the highlights that will be happening at the Annual meeting in relation to our specialty section.
The FS3 Business Update and Reception will be held 6:00 – 7:30 pm March 13 at Hilton Baltimore Peale. Please come to meet friends and colleagues while enjoying food and drinks. The executive committee will update you about the financial report, the results of the new officer election and student awards, welcoming in-coming officers and saying good-bye to out-going officers. In addition, we will have quiz questions. Those who get the right answer will be awarded drinking tickets. Join us and have fun!
If you are a graduate student, postdoc, or young toxicologist, I encourage you to attend the FS3 mentoring event, which will be hosted 5:00 - 6:00 pm March 11 at Convention Center Room 343. You will meet with experts and mentors from a diversified background such as academia, government, industry, consulting, CRO, or non-profit organization. It is a great opportunity for you to know about different career paths in food safety or toxicology in general.
For the scientific programs, FS3 received twelve proposals in total for the 2019 SOT Annual Meeting. The executive
committee worked very hard to review, evaluate, and select excellent proposals that are food safety related. As a result, two scientific sessions are sponsored or co-sponsored by FS3. Information regarding FS3-sponsored sessions is listed in the subsequent pages of the newsletter. Check them out.
In addition, a poster highlighting information about FS3 will be displayed together with other Specialty Section posters, throughout the entire Annual Meeting. Stop by and check it out!
Hope to see you all in Baltimore!
Sincerely yours,
Karin Ke, PhD, DABT, ERT President of FS3
