Building Buttercream Skills

(Wilton Course 1) Thousands of people just like you have

experienced the excitement of decorating their

first cakes in a Wilton class. You will see how easy

and rewarding it is to decorate wonderful cakes

and other desserts that will delight your family

and friends. Your certified instructor will show

you the keys to baking, icing, and decorating

cakes, and special treats. Learn these

buttercream techniques: star, borders, drop

flower, rosette, ruffles, zinnia, ribbon rose,

printing, and writing. Students will receive a

Wilton Certificate of Completion.

Tall Cakes Class

Spring Cookie Class

Participants will learn to make a delicious sugar

cookie recipe and decorate cookies in vibrant colors

using buttercream and cookie royal icings, and

fondant, using all the accents. Your certified

Flowers & Cake Design (Wilton Course 2)

Build on those skills you learned in Course One!

Learn to make: button flower, pansy, Wilton rose,

apple blossom, primrose, rosebud, daffodil, violet,

lily, and basket weave accents. These techniques

are made from royal icing, fondant, and gum paste.

Students will receive a Wilton Certificate of

Cupcake Deliciousness

Learn basic fondant techniques to top off your

Creative Arts Perfectly Painted

Instructor, Michelle Burnside, has been painting

since the age of 8 years old. Her art work has been

published and won numerous awards. In this

session, you learn some basic and advanced

techniques painting with acrylics. Perfect for the

hobbyist, children 6+, or a beginning painter!

Knitting – The Basics and Beyond

Have you ever wanted to learn how to knit? Do

you already know the basic stitches but would

like to add more to your repertoire? If you

answered yes to either of these questions, this

is the class for you. If you are new to knitting,

you will learn to cast-on, knit, purl, and bind

off. If you already know the basics, you will

learn how to knit a basic cable, how to seam

two pieces of knitting together, and how to fix

common knitting errors. All participants will

learn the basics of flat and circular knitting.

Freezer paper stenciling is a wonderful way to add monograms or simple graphics to all types of fabrics. Advanced Beginner’s Crochet

Do you have basic crochet skills – holding the yarn,

making a chain, completing one or two simple

stitches – but want to improve your skills? This

advanced beginner’s class will focus on taking your

abilities to the next level. We will focus on learning

new stitches and pattern reading. This class will

benefit new crocheters, as well as experienced

crocheters who would like to brush up on their

Fashion Fun

Come enjoy an afternoon making fashionable

wearables! We will make a skirt, scarf, and

accessories with just a few t-shirts in a great

upcycling project. No sewing involved, and you can

wear your completed projects that day. This would

be a great activity for a girl age 8-14 and an adult to

sign-up and complete together.

Zumba

Dance your way to fitness! Zumba combines Latin

and International music with a fun and effective

workout system. Zumba's choreography

incorporates hip-hop, samba, salsa,

Tai Chi

This nine week course will combine Qigong and Tai

Chi. Qigong is the general name for a variety of

exercise movements that are practiced individually

in isolated units that aim to improve flexibility,

gentle stretching, light aerobic exercise and chi-

energy cycling. Tai Chi is a refreshing form of

exercise for the mind, body, and spirit! Tai Chi offers

great benefits in balance, stretching, extension,

posture, composure, internal strength and

Meditative Yoga

Stress and anxiety are two of most prevalent

problems of modern life. We carry tension both

within the physical body and, on even deeper levels,

in the subtle body. Guided meditation is an

integrative process that balances the sympathetic

and parasympathetic nervous system, allowing a

shift from the fight or flight response to the

relaxation response. While physical tension can be

Computer Training Black Kentuckians & the American Civil

War

Though the Emancipation Proclamation sounded

the death knell of slavery in the United States,

white attitudes toward newly freed black

Americans would change slowly. In Kentucky, the

experiences of African-Americans during the

American Civil War were many and varied--and

sometimes tragic. This course will present an

overview of those experiences with special

attention given the important role and sacrifices

made by African-American Kentuckians who fled

slavery by the thousands, entering Union camps

and volunteering to enlist in the Union army.

Traveling Spanish

This course will teach you how to become fluent

tourist. You will become comfortable with the

Spanish language to learn key phrases and words

Wonders of Welding

This class is designed to teach the very basics of arc

welding. This class provides no college credit, it is

designed for hobbyist that want to improve their

skills. The class will cover safety, use of equipment,

and equipment purchasing. Students are to provide

their own safety equipment (boots, blue jean pants,

long sleeve shirt, safety glasses & welding

glove) Welding hoods are available for students to

Guitar Lessons

Instructor, Michelle Burnside, has been a

professional guitar player since a very young age.

Michelle and her husband Rick owned a full service

music store in West Palm Beach, Florida, and taught

lessons for many years. In this class, students will

learn chords, basic rhythms, and playing along with

others. Great for the beginner guitar player, kids

Summer Youth College

Join us for Summer Youth College this year , July

13th-16th! Students in grades 1st-6th will attend

three classes that meet one hour each day from

8:30 am to 12 pm. Students will be grouped into

classes, customized for their grade level.

Applications will be sent to schools in the Spring

semester. We look forward to another great year!

Kindermusik: Wiggle and Grow Family Class

For 0 to 5 year olds (Great for parents with siblings

of different ages.)

This music-filled class celebrates the unique joys of

your growing child. Each week your child will love

singing, dancing, and playing instruments with you

and his/her new friends and you’ll love helping

him/her practice a wide

variety of abilities such

as gross and fine motor

skills, turn-taking, social

skills, and active

listening. In class, we’ll also share tips and ideas for

using music throughout the week. Plus, the fun (and

Portable Generator Safety

Don’t be left out in the cold! With Spring storms still

ahead of us and possible outages, it is important to

stay prepared. Portable generators are a great and

safe source for temporary electrical power when

properly installed and used. Join Kentucky –licensed

master electrician and contractor, Dan Edington, for

this informative session to learn the basics of how to

safely operate a portable generator, connect drop

cords, and safely, and legally, connect to your
