Spring 2014 Downtown Bike Count Tuesday, April 22 nd & Saturday, April 26 th Gender Type of Bicycle Highest Count Locations On Tuesday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 26th the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), with the help of 34 volunteers, conducted the 2014 Spring Downtown Bike Count. The counts were conducted between 7 - 9 AM and 4 - 6 PM on Tuesday and 12 - 2 PM on Saturday. Tuesday 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM Tuesday 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Saturday 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Kinzie Bridge - 509 Lake Front Trail at Chicago Ave. - 445 Wells St. at Chicago Ave. - 396 Kinzie Bridge - 532 Lake Front Trail at Chicago Ave. - 468 Lake Front Trail at Balbo Ave. - 307 Lake Front Trail at Chicago Ave. - 484 Lake Front Trail at Balbo Ave. - 262 Wells St. at Chicago Ave. - 149 Number of Cyclists by Day Personal Bike 84% Divvy 16% Male 75% Female 25% 2,578 2,943 1,789 Tuesday AM Tuesday PM Saturday The count boundaries surrounded the Central Business District along four screenlines; Chicago Ave., Canal St., Harrison St., and the Lakefront Trail. A total of 7,310 cyclists were counted. 16% of cyclists counted were riding Divvy bike share bikes. This is up from 5% when Divvy first debuted in Summer 2013. Volunteers counted both inbound and outbound cyclists at 20 locations on Tuesday and 25 locations on Saturday.
