With hardly a chance to catch our breath from the last minute releases of 2012, so far in 2013 we’ve already seen a completely new slate of Silver Eagles, Gold Eagles and Gold Buffalos! If you are an ANACS First Strike or NGC Early Release Collector please call your favorite CSN Mint representative – we have a very limited supply of these coveted, newly-minted-on-fresh-die coins remaining in inventory.

Add to this frenetic pace the release of Proof Presidential Dollars sets, Silver and Clad America the Beautiful coins and Proof Silver Eagles and you have a situation that brings a smile to even the most jaded collector of coins. Did we mention the upcoming Girl Scout Silver Commemorative coin or the 5-Star General Commemorative coins?

As this list of incredible new coins continues to grow, we hope that you will consider the CSN Mint when it comes time to add any collectible coin to your collection. New or old, silver or gold, we pledge to find the exact specimen you are looking for, at an honest price, and backed with customer service that can’t be beat.

ADOLPH A. WEINMAN

SCULPTORNUMISMATIC ICON

Ask most collectors to name the most beautiful

coins in U S history and chances are both the

“Mercury” dime and the Walking Liberty half

dollar will be high on their lists These two

outstanding coins have enjoyed consistent acclaim

since their joint introduction in 1916 when they

earned a modest measure of fame for Adolph

Alexander Weinman, the German-born sculptor

who designed them

Weinman’s Walking Liberty design is so universally

revered that its beauty was chosen to be

showcased again on American Eagle Silver Bullion

coins in 1986 The popular design shows a full-

length figure of Liberty striding toward the dawn

of a new day, clad in the Stars and Stripes and

carrying branches of laurel and oak – symbols of

civil and military glory

The obverse design was originally used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar 1916-1947

The reverse features a heraldic eagle and shield by John Mercanti

SAN FRANCISCO PROOFSa. 2012 SILVER EAGLE SAN FRANCISCO TWO-COIN SILVER PROOF SETThe Silver American Eagle Program, launched in 1986, is among the United States Mint’s most popular, and the United States Mint has a tradition of offering special limited-edition coin sets to American Eagle Coin collectors.

This 2012 American Eagle San Francisco Two-Coin Silver Proof Set is an exquisite collection that captures the spirit and elegance of these prized coins, and is a testament to the fine, exacting craftsmanship that has been a U.S. Mint hallmark since 1792.

The first coin included in the set is the 2012-S Proof Silver Eagle, struck at the San Francisco Mint and carrying the “S” mint mark (standard proof Silver Eagles are typically struck at the West Point Mint and carry the “W” mint mark, which makes this release a special issue). The second coin included in the set is the 2012-S Reverse Proof Silver Eagle. This coin features a special finish, which is the opposite of a traditional cameo proof. The background fields are frosted and the design elements and inscriptions are mirrored. This is only the third reverse proof Silver Eagle ever issued by the U.S. Mint, following the 2006-P and 2011-P, which were issued as part of the 20th and 25th anniversary sets.

QUARTER COLLECTIONSACT FAST – THESE CERTIFIED PR70 PROOF QUARTERS SELL OUT QUICKLY!Artwork for each America the Beautiful Quarter® is first digitally mastered in 3-D to capture the beauty of America’s natural parks and historic landmarks. The artwork is then passed on to the San Francisco Mint, the exclusive minting facility for proof-quality coins. The mint produces a limited number of these proofs, where each coin is double struck for crisp relief providing a level of detail not found on typical circulating coinage. Roughly 1 in 1000 of these proofs achieves the flawless grade of PR70. Even fewer qualify for the designation of Deep Cameo (DCAM). Each coin in these sets is individually encapsulated and certified PR70 by ANACS. Available as a Clad Proof Set and Silver Proof Set.

CLAD PROOF QUARTER SETSThese special-edition America the Beautiful Quarters® are real currency and are one of the highest quality coins produced by the U.S. Mint. These proof collector versions are specially minted to deliver the ultimate in detail with a mirror-like background.

Proof coins represent only a fraction of the total coins manufactured each year…add to that the fact that the America the Beautiful Quarters® represent one of the lowest production levels of a U.S. Mint coin in decades and what you have is a sure-fire collectible; one that you’ll treasure for years to come. Don't hesitate, this could be your only chance to obtain the complete series!

SILVER PROOF QUARTER SETSThe ultimate edition of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program! Never touched by human hands and specially minted to deliver incredible detail with mirror-like backgrounds – these coins are works of art struck in 90% SILVER.

These coins are collector versions of the highest quality. They are produced exclusively at the United States Mint in San Francisco and feature the distinguishing “S” mintmark.

These sets sell out quickly at the U.S. Mint and are typically minted in quantities of fewer than a million a year. America the Beautiful Quarters® already represent one of the lowest production levels of a U.S. Mint coin series in decades. That makes these silver proofs very rare, and very collectible.

SILVER COINS OF THE WILD WESTb. GSA CARSON CITY MORGAN DOLLARSAvailable in Rare Original Government PackagingIn 1964, a Government Accounting Office audit revealed about 3 million Carson City Morgans still in treasury vaults. The General Services Administration was given authority to sell them, and special packaging was designed. Over time, many of these “GSA Morgans” were removed from their packaging for grading, making the coins in original packaging extremely attractive to collectors. The new design was created to commemorate the restoration of peace following the conclusion of World War I – “the war to end all wars”. MARVELOUS AMERICAN MINT SETS

The United States Mint has created annual sets of uncirculated coins for collectors known as Mint sets since 1947. Packaged just for collectors; these popular sets provide collectors with one example of each coin issued for circulation in a complete set issued by the U.S. Mint.

Amidst a few interruptions and several changes in format, this popular collector offering continues into the present day.

The first Mint sets issued from 1947 to 1958 included two examples of each coin struck for circulation packaged in cardboard and paper holders. This material caused the coins in the set to develop toning over time. In some cases, the toning exhibits rainbow hues that are prized by collectors. From 1959 to 1964, Mint sets were issued in flat packs similar to the packaging developed for the Proof Sets. The two cellophane packs were placed within an envelope marked with the date of issue. After three years of issuing Special Mint sets, regular Mint sets were issued from 1968 to 1981 and from 1983 to present.

Some sets are of particular note to collectors since they contain coins not issued for circulation. This includes the 1970 Mint Set, which includes the 1970-D Kennedy Half, and later sets issued in 1973 and 1981 that include dollar coins not issued for circulation. The 1996 Mint Set included the 1996-W Roosevelt Dime struck at the West Point Mint – a coin found only in the sets for the 50th anniversary of the coin series.

From 2005 to present, the United States Mint has used a special satin finish for coins included in the annual Mint Set. Along with particularly low mintage, this adds another unique aspect to the sets.

NEW AND OLDa. GOLD BUFFALOSIn 2006, the United States Mint introduced the American Gold Buffalo as its first 24kt gold bullion coin. This was the first time ever that the U.S. Government had minted pure (.9999) 24kt gold coins for the public. These coins are designed after the famous 1913 Type 1 Buffalo Nickel created by James Earle Fraser. The obverse of this gold coin shows the well-known Indian Head, and the reverse features the classic buffalo design as well as inscriptions of the weight, denomination, and gold content. Gold prices fluctuate, but the popularity of U.S. Gold Buffalo bullion coins only increases!

a. BYZANTINE CHRIST COINThis unique bronze coin is an example of the 10th-11th century Byzantine folles that featured Christ’s portrait. While earlier gold coins had exhibited portraits of Christ, it took nearly three centuries before the first bronze coins showed such images. These folles are usually found worn and very crudely struck. Quite often, they were over-struck on existing coins where the earlier design elements are still visible.

b. HUNGARIAN SILVER DENAR WITH MADONNA AND CHILDThis coin features an image of the baby Jesus in the arms of the Madonna, the Patron Saint of Hungary, on the obverse, encircled by the legend “Patrona Hung.” On the reverse is the Royal Coat of Arms. c. ROMAN EMPEROR AURELIAN, “FATHER OF CHRISTMAS”In Roman times, solstice festivals were seen as an invitation to stay in good spirits, a time to remember that winter was not forever, and that life continued. In the year 274 AD, the solstice fell on the 25th of December, and Roman emperor Aurelian proclaimed this day the “Birth of the Sun”. At the same time, Christians in 3rd century Rome were frequently persecuted, and being seen publicly celebrating any Christian festival was dangerous. To avoid detection by authorities, Christians began celebrating the birth of Christ on this very same day. Aurelian has since been known as the “father of Christmas” and his portrait is reflected in this bronze coin!

The collection includes coins from Jesus’ roots in Judea; coins mentioned in Scripture; coins minted by defenders of Christian belief, coins minted by enemies; coins minted by faithful leaders and visionaries; coins minted by the converted; as well as coins minted by unholy crusaders who pillaged and profited in the name of Christ.

The Sacagawea Dollar was introduced in 2000 as the new circulating dollar coin of the United States of America. These coins have a copper core clad by manganese brass, giving them a distinctive golden color.

b. BARBER HALF DOLLARSThese coins were designed by Charles E. Barber, Chief Engraver at the U.S. Mint from 1879-1917 and minted from 1892-1915. Also known as Liberty Head Half Dollars, all Barber Coinage saw very heavy and long term use in daily commerce and consequentially, most surviving examples are heavily worn.

c. LIBERTY WALKING HALF DOLLARSOne of America’s most beautiful and most sought-after coins. Adolph Weinman’s “Liberty Walking” was issued from 1916-1947 and has been out of circulation for 60 years! The design features a full-length figure of Liberty, progressing in full stride toward the dawn of a new day, carrying branches of laurel and oak, symbolical of civil and military glory.

d. FRANKLIN HALF DOLLARSThis coin was the last half dollar minted in .900 pure silver during its entire run from 1948-1963. It’s the first circulating coin to feature a real person other than a U.S. President, and features Founding Father Benjamin Franklin on the obverse and the Liberty Bell on the reverse. This Franklin half dollar was short-lived and disappeared to make way for the 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar.

COLLECTOR STARTER SETSa. KENNEDY HALF DOLLARSThe Kennedy half dollar, first minted in 1964, is fifty cent coin issued by the United States Mint. Intended as a memorial to the assassinated President John F. Kennedy, it was authorized by Congress just over a month after his death. Despite the fact that these coins are still being struck, their circulation is extremely limited.

b. STANDING LIBERTY QUARTERSThese coins were struck by the U.S. Mint from 1916 to 1930 in .900 silver. The original design of the coin was the subject of some controversy. The design was modified in 1917 to cover Liberty’s exposed breast, and the reverse received a new arrangement of the stars, with the eagle moved higher. In 1925 the design was altered again when a depression was made in the pedestal on which Liberty stands and that bears the date.

c. BARBER DIMESBarber or Liberty Head dimes were minted between 1892 and 1916 and are composed of .900 silver. They were designed by Charles E. Barber, Chief Engraver of the Mint, who also designed the twenty-five- and fifty-cent pieces. His initial B is at the end of the neck of the image of Liberty on the obverse. The dime featured a wreath of American agricultural products with the words “ONE DIME” in the center.

d. MERCURY DIMESAlthough this coin is commonly called the “Mercury” dime, it is in fact the Winged Liberty Head dime and the figure on the obverse is a representation of Liberty. These coins have not been produced in over 60 years, and are harder to find with each passing day! Minted between 1916 and 1945, the wings crowning her cap are intended to symbolize the liberty of thought.

a. ROOSEVELT DIMESFollowing his death in 1945, the dime was chosen to honor Franklin D Roosevelt. The dime honored Roosevelt partly due to his efforts in the founding of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis (later renamed the March of Dimes) and through 1964 the dimes were struck in .900 silver.

b. BUFFALO NICKELSAlso known as the “Indian head” nickel, this coin is a copper nickel five cent piece struck by the U.S. Mint from 1913 to 1938. It was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser. The image on the obverse of the coin is actually a composite of several Native Americans, and the bison on the reverse of the coin is rumored to have been modeled after Black Diamond, a resident of the Central Park Zoo in the early 1900’s.

c. STEEL PENNIESDuring WWII, the U.S. Government melted many coins for their use in the war effort. This temporarily changed the way coins were minted and in 1943, the penny was made out of steel rather than copper. Each of these “steelies” feature a profile of President Abraham Lincoln on the obverse, and the legendary “wheat ears” design on the reverse.

d. INDIAN HEAD PENNIESHere’s a chance to snap up 10 Indian Head one-cent coins produced by the United States Mint from 1859 through 1909. The obverse of these coins shows United States of America, and an Indian head facing to the left, wearing a feather bonnet. The word “LIBERTY” is shown on the band across the bonnet, with the production date below.
