Quarterly Newsletter Issue 1 – Spring 2010 TriState News TriState Biofuels began manufacturing premium pellet fuel from the hardwood forests of Western Pennsylvania in 2009. Our facility produces 50,000 tons of wood pellets a year. The quality of our wood pellets is monitored by the Pellet Fuel Institute and our hands-on facility staff, ensuring premium wood pellet standards. We closely monitor the production process to maintain a pellet that has a low moisture and low ash content. TriState Biofuels also took part in the 2010 Pellet Fuels Institute Luncheon in Orlando, FL. Our involvement helps us to stay on top of the industry and deliver valuable information to our current and future customers. Pellet News Wood pellets are a growing source of energy throughout the U.S. The Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI) estimates that there are over 1,000,000 residences/businesses in the U.S. currently heating with pellets. In order to better serve the loyal users of wood pellet fuel, the PFI and a number of pellet manufacturers, including TriState Biofuels, has initiated a program that will improve quality standards. This standards program will make sure only the best materials go into wood pellets. The program will eliminate the use of waste materials, along with any materials that are not disclosed on the bag. With the predicted increase of oil and natural gas, wood pellets are expected to be a cheaper, cleaner, and a more-ready fuel source for 2010 and beyond! Where to find us...
