T he word of 'smart media' is no long-er strange word

to modern people. With the development of smart media, they can experience the new media in more vivid colors and realistic sound than the past. The propagation speed of smart media is so much as-tonishingly fast that it seems like a meteorite being sucked into the black hole. At this rate, it is transmitted to the opposite side of the earth and the information is shared via smart devices.

Wherever you can find the electricity turn to be smart. Everything from a smart phone a televi-sion at home and a medical device in a hospital to an electric sign in a subway station is smart. However, we run into an unexpected problem here. As soon as those convenient smart devices are electrically charged, the electric wave which are hazardous to health is released.

It is widely recognized that electric waves cause xeroph-thalmia and cataract as well as damaging cornea and retina. In particular, there is a research that the visible ray area of blue light which reflects off the smart device could necrotize healthy cells with harmful waves, causing eye strain and stress.

In addition, it is likely to develop a cancer and a cervi-cal disc, and fatally damage growth in children when using smart devices for long time. According to recent research in France, overuse of smart phone raise the incidence rate of brain tumor and destroy brain cells, leading to dementia.

Considering all the side effects, it seems that we need to ab-stain from using smart phones, even if they are so much attrac-tive. In light of this, I would like to suggest several obvious but hard-to-follow tips in the era where the average life expectancy is ex-pected to be 100 years in the forseeable future.

It is necessary to use smart phones less. If you feel it is not easy, us-ing bluetooth and earphone is strongly recommended. When you go to bed, keep the smart phone as far as possible from your bed. Turn-ing the phone off to block Wi-Fi will be much better.

Living Smart and Healthy in the Era of Smart Media

When you work with a computer, you should keep a long distance as much as you caif[when] necessaryn from the monitor. Blinking your eyes every ten minutes will relieve the stress of your eyes. It is much easier to find some special products and medical devices for eye care than before, so you can take advantage of them.

As for medicines and health supplement food, you should take them only when necessary. People nowadays are recommended to take more and more medicines as well as health supplement food. However, drug abuse could let the balance of human body collapsed and cause diseases, so you need to take them only when necessay af-ter receiving counseling from a doctor. Along with this, you are well advised to replenish nutrients with natural food rather than health supplement food.

Last but not the least, less use cosmetics. If you put on makeup everyday, all kinds of chemicals amounting 2.8kg per year are ab-sorbed to your skins without passing through digestive organs, so

those materials are not emitted but flowed to your blood vessels. There are a thousand

different types of chemicals in daily cos-metics, of which impact to our health

has yet to be proved with certainty.

Korea-Japan Trade Volume Shrinks amid Years of Bilateral Diplomatic Rows

By Yeon Choul-woong([email protected])

A mid the situation in which the Korea-Japan diplomatic relationship gets worse every year, the bilateral trade volume has fallen to a historic low. According to the

Korea International Trade Association on March 18, the volume of trade (sum of exports and imports) between Japan and Korea was US$85,952 million in 2014, down 9.2 percent from the previous year.

The bilateral trade volume had hit a record-high level in 2011 at $108.0 billion (with the year-on-year growth rate of 16.8%), followed

by $103,159 million (-4.5%) in 2012 and $94,692 million (-8.2%) in 2013. The year 2014 was the third consecutive year in which the amount of Japanese-Korean trade shrank. This is the lowest level since 2009 ($71,198 million) in the wake of the global financial crisis.

For the two-month period this year, the trade volume between the two countries was $10,044 million (preliminary), 13.6 percent lower than the same period in 2014.

21st-century society. Unfortunately, no one has thus far come up with a clear solution to this is-sue, thereby bringing us to a point where we talk about a class struggle between ‘the 99%’ and ‘the 1%. Yet I believe my small efforts could contrib-ute to turning ‘failed capitalism’ into ‘prospering capitalism.’

When I was young, the story of Microsoft Founder Bill Gate inspired me to become soft-ware developer. My encounter with the Mines Shopping Mall made me search for better tech-nologies. Now, the story of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg emboldened me to develop

better technologies for online shopping. From now on, I intend to run the Korea IT Times as a means to discuss solutions to failed capitalism and ways to address social inequality, described as a class struggle between ‘the 99%’ and ‘the 1%..

We hereby inform you that The Korea IT Times Magazine, which marks its 13th year, changes its name to The GIGA Korea IT Times. And this special issue is dedicated to GIGA Korea’s on-line shopping mall that has been expediting exports of Korean SMEs’ products to the Chinese market.

Thank you for your support and I hope Korea IT Times readers will show continuing support for The GIGA Korea IT Times. And I promise you that The GIGA Korea IT Times will work tirelessly to delivers better and more current news to you and especially to floundering SMEs.

LG to lead Premium TV Market with Dual Premium Strategy

By Yeon Choul-woong([email protected])

L G Electronics (LG) today unveiled its 2015 global TV lineup in Seoul, announcing at the same time its DUAL PREMIUM strategy to focus on the premium TV market with its new

TV lineup. With its DUAL PREMIUM strategy, LG is confident it can secure a leading position in the global premium TV market with OLED TVs while simultaneously expanding the size of the premium TV seg-ment to create more opportunities for its new PRIME UHD TVs.

Whole New Level of Display with Perfect Black, Perfect Color

LG unveiled a slate of new OLED TV units, including 55-, 65-, and 77-inch models with curved and flat screens. The company also in-troduced its ABCD concept to encapsulate the main benefits of the company’s cutting-edge OLED display technologies:

Angle (A): LG OLED TVs assure that even viewers sitting off-cent-er will enjoy exceptional picture quality.

Black (B) and Color (C): The OLED lineup incorporates several advanced display features, including LG’s proprietary WRGB OLED technology. This ensures images are rendered with perfect blacks, striking colors and infinite contrast ratio.

Design (D): LG’s Art Slim design philosophy focuses on creating the slimmest TV possible while keeping the overall aesthetic simple and clean.

With a winning combination of superior display technologies, LG’s OLED TV won the Best of CES award in the TV Product Category in January. As more and more high quality content becomes available, LG expects sales of its stunning OLED TV to grow as more discerning viewers look for higher quality products in which to view the content. With this in mind, LG plans to expand its OLED TV lineup in Korea from five to ten models to provide consumers with a greater selection of premium TV products.

PRIME UHD TV with Every Color Comes AliveLG’s PRIME UHD TV, which is a tier above the company’s UL-

TRA HD TV, boasts features such as ColorPrime technology, ULTRA Luminance, 4K In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel and Prime Master-ing Engine to offer a truly premium, cinema-like experience. LG’s ColorPrime technology magnifies the range of colors that can be dis-played on screen by utilizing different LED phosphor colors, creat-ing greater image depth and realism. ULTRA Luminance technology continuously analyzes the brightest and darkest parts of the displayed content in order to improve brightness and resolution. Equipped with

LG’s 4K IPS panel, the TV renders detailed images at extremely wide viewing angles. What’s more, the Prime Mastering Engine optimizes the settings of the TV to boost picture quality to premium levels.

In addition, LG’s PRIME UHD TV (Model 55UF9500) comes with the stunningly thin 8.5mm UltraSlim Design display in an industry where competing displays are between 40 and 50mm in depth. LG’s integrated Auditorium Stand matches the metallic finish on the bezel around the screen. The stand also complements the centralized Har-man/Kardon sound system by functioning as a sound reflector.

Outstanding User Experience via webOS 2.0LG’s new webOS 2.0 Smart TV platform is an upgraded version of

the company’s highly successful original webOS user interface. We-bOS was originally designed under the “Make TV Simple Again” con-cept in an effort to counter the growing frustration with overly com-plex TV menu systems. Smart TVs equipped with webOS have been forecasted to top one million in unit sales within the first half of 2015.

“We’re excited to be introducing a comprehensive range of distinc-tive TV products that deliver stunning picture quality to commu-nicate what we mean by premium,” said Brian Kwon, president and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “LG OLED TVs and PRIME UHD TVs reinforce the brand as synonymous with picture quality. With these unparalleled home entertainment solu-tions, LG is finding itself in a very favorable position as the premium TV market leader.”

The company will launch its premium TVs in overseas markets be-ginning at the end of March.

The Countdown has begun for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

By Yeon Choul-woong([email protected])

S amsung recently unveiled their new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge phones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and are due to arrive on the market on 10th April. Goldgenie, the

established London based luxury customization specialists, mastered the art of embellishing Samsung’s current Galaxy S5 and Alpha mod-els in luxurious 24k Gold and recently presented the 24k Gold S5 to “Selma” star David Oyelowo at an Oscars event in Los Angeles.

Goldgenie is excited about the forthcoming launch and will be of-fering the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in their craftsmen’s signa-ture luxury finishes of 24k Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum.

Samsung has exchanged its recognizable plastic casing for premium glass and metal and the resulting devices are quite spectacular. The curved glass front of the S6 Edge looks like quite a feat in modern architecture. It is not just a pretty face though, there is a useful feature behind its curves called People Edge. People Edge allows the phone owner choose 5 contacts to pull up easily from the edge and also at-tributes each of these contacts with a colour so you can easily see who is calling, even if the phone is face down.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge models are to be accompanied with a high-speed wireless charger and the phones’ increased stor-age capacities of 64GB and 128GB will be welcome amongst Samsung fans.

Goldgenie will be accepting pre-orders of their customized S6 and S6 Edge phones from Friday 20th March at 9am. Prices start from £1664 exc. VAT for the Samsung Galaxy S6 in 24k Gold. To be one of the first to secure a device from this collection, customers are invited to place a 50% deposit on their chosen phone, with the balance pay-able soon after. The pre-order service will end on 7th April and the phones will be available to order as normal from Samsung’s official launch date, 10th April 2015. Dispatch of the first shipment of orders will be between 14 and 21 days after this date.

Goldgenie’s customized Samsung S6 and S6 Edge will be presented in a luxury cherry oak display case and make the perfect gift for the Samsung aficionado or for anyone considering converting to An-droid.

P resident Park Geun-hye, on her four-state visit to the Mid-dle East, attended a taekwondo demonstration on March 7 in Doha, Qatar, the final stop on her tour.

The demonstration, titled Bisang, meaning “soaring,” was put on by a group of young taekwondo practitioners from Qatar, in cooperation with the Kukkiwon, the sport`s official governing body. It was part of a special event that focused on exchanges in the arts, sports and tradi-tions between Korea and Qatar. The title implied the hope that the two

gugak team Coreyah was from Korea and there was also a group of traditional performers from Qatar, as well. They collaborated togeth-er, with each group playing traditional musical instruments from its own country.

The Seoul-based b-boy dance troupe Jinjo Crew, too, showed off its world-class dance moves.

“It was such a good time to rediscover the traditions and charms of taekwondo,” said President Park in her remarks after the show. “It was a kind of fusion show using martial arts and traditional music, as young taekwondo practitioners, musicians and artists from both countries mingled together.”

“Hopefully, the international taekwondo competition underway in Qatar will bring together the whole world, as well as the Qatari peo-ple,” the president added. “I also hope that the two countries will fur-ther expand bilateral exchanges, not only in martial arts, but in more areas, including sports and other arts & traditions, as well.”

She then expressed her hope that Korean businesses’ would be able to participate in the construction of infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup, to be held in the country. “Korea hosted the 2002 World Cup. We hope to share our experience with Qatar to make the upcoming soccer event a success.”

countries would, “march together and soar together,” organizers said.

Qatar has a high interest in the martial art, as evidenced by the number of local practitioners, which amounts to more than 3,000. On March 5, the Arab nation played host to the first Qatar International Taekwondo Open, the first taekwondo competition in the country. It attracted practitioners from more than 30 countries from around the world, coming together to compete with one another.

The event also featured musicians from both countries. The fusion

Do Psychopaths Ever Pay for Their Crimes? Most serial killers don't understand punishment, study reveals

A ccording research at Kings College London, violent psy-chopathic criminals may be unable to learn from pun-ishment due to abnormalities in key parts of their brain,

according to a new study.

Brain scans of violent offenders have shown that those with psycho-pathic tendencies react differently when confronted with punishment or a negative reaction to their behavior. This could be why psycho-paths do not benefit from rehabilitation programs while other violent criminals often do.

Around one in five violent offenders are thought to be a psychopath and they are known to have higher rates of reoffending.

The researchers behind the latest study hope that their findings could help to develop new interventions in childhood that could re-duce the risk of violence and reoffending. The scientists found that the psychopaths had reduced levels of grey matter and abnormal white matter in areas of the brain that are involved in learning from rewards and punishment.

Dr Nigel Blackwood, a psychologist at Kings College London, said: 'Psychopathic offenders are different from regular criminals in many ways.

'Regular criminals are hyper-responsive threat, quick-tempered and aggressive, while psychopaths have a very low response to threats, are cold, and their aggressively is premeditated. 'Evidence is now ac-cumulating to show that both types of offenders present abnormal, but distinctive, brain development from a young age.

'We found that the violent offenders with psychopathy, as compared to both the violent offenders without psychopathy and the non-of-fenders, displayed abnormal responses to punishment within the pos-terior cingulate and insula when a previously rewarded response was punished.'

The researchers, whose work is published in the journal Lancet Psychiatry, conducted MRI scans on 12 male violent psychopathic criminal offenders and 20 male violent offenders without psychopa-thy from the UK.

The men had all been convicted of murder, rape, attempted murder and grevious bodily harm and were recruited from the probation ser-vice. They were asked to complete a task that involved matching pairs of images of animals or furniture displayed on a screen when they were in the scanner.

Each choice gained them or lost them points depending on their answer. The researchers then assessed what happened when they changed the rules of the game, removing points for answers that would have once won them points and vice versa.

The same test was also conducted on 18 healthy non-offenders. Dr Blackwood said: 'When these violent offenders completed

neuropsychological tasks, they failed to learn from punishment cues,

to change their behavior in the face of changing contingencies, and made poorer quality decisions despite longer periods of deliberation.'

The scans also revealed the psychopaths had abnormal brain re-sponses in the posterior cingulate and insula parts of the brain that are involved in reward and punishment learning. The scientists believe their results could be used to help produce new treatments for violent offenders, particularly for those with psychopathy.

'Our results also provide hypotheses about the abnormal develop-ment of violent offenders to be tested in studies of children.' Professor Sheilagh Hodgins, from the University of Montreal who was also in-volved in the study, said learning from punishment was an important part of regulating behavior.

She said: 'Offenders with psychopathy may only consider the pos-sible positive consequences and fail to take account of the likely nega-tive consequences.

'Consequently, their behavior often leads to punishment rather than reward as they had expected. 'Punishment signals the necessity to change behavior. Clearly, in certain situations, offenders have dif-ficulty learning from punishment to change their behavior.'

She added: 'Since most violent crimes are committed by men who display conduct problems from a young age, learning-based interven-tions that target the specific brain mechanisms underlying this be-havior pattern and thereby change the behavior would significantly reduce violent crime.'

Korea-China FTA to be signed by Late April at the Earliest

By Lee Kyung-ho([email protected])

T he free trade agreement between China and Korea is ex-pected to be signed by late April. Minister of Trade, In-dustry, and Energy Yoon Sang-jick said on March 13 in a

National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee meet-ing, "[The Korea-China FTA] will be signed before the end of the first half of this year but we are trying to move up the date as much as pos-sible. It is likely to be in late April or early May." He added, however, "The two sides much reach an agreement on signing schedules."

Representatives from China and Korea had signed a preliminary agreement on the FTA pact on February 25. In order for the pact to be officially signed, the current English-only text must be translated into both Korean and Chinese. Both sides are currently in the process of translation of the document. Afterward, the document must undergo

A parliamentary study said 51 professors at 25 law schools in Korea have not published a journal article for the past six years. According to Rep. Park Hong-geun (New Poli-

tics Alliance for Democracy) based on data submitted by the National Research Foundation of Korea on March 15, a total of 906 full-time law school professors has written 11,144 academic papers for six years from 2009 to 2014.

This is an average of 12.3 papers per professor for six years' time, or about two per professor. Out of these, 51 professors (5.6% in total) have never published anything while the number of those who con-tributed fewer than five for six years was 236 (26.0%). The number of those who put out more than 20 papers was 169 (18.7%).

By university, Jeju University had the highest number of per profes-sor publications with 18.1, followed by Kyunghee University (15.9), Sungkyunkwan University (15.5), Chung-Ang University (15.2), Seoul National University (14.9), Korea University (14.5), and Yeung-nam University (13.9). Most of the journal articles were published in Korean journals. The number of papers published in international professional journals was only 99 (0.9%), with the number in interna-tional general-purpose journals reaching 236 (2.1%).

approval with the Ministry of Government Legislation and the Cabi-net Meeting, with the final sanction by the President. The trade min-istry will submit a request for agreement to ratification to the National Assembly before the end of the first half.

Tariff abolition or exemption in accordance with the free trade agreement will be made immediately after the pact goes into effect or in stages over scheduled years. On the same day, the minister an-swered to a question whether the government would lend support to the agricultural sector that would be negatively affected by market opening, "Instead of giving direct support [to the agriculture sector], the government will try to nurture the sector's capacity to export pri-mary commodities."

S outh Korea’s Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning said its vice minister Choi Jae-you would hold a weekly meeting with ICT experts in the private sector in a bid to jumpstart the nation’s tech industry. This aims to deal with problems

raised in the relevant industry, colleges, and research centers. The first meeting was held at a local software firm TOBESOFT on Mar. 13. It drew around

30 professionals from start-ups, global companies, research centers and venture capitals in a bid to discuss how to better support the nation’s software research and development.

The ministry said it would lay out plans to innovate the country’s software industry based on the opinions shared during the meeting. The conference aimed to gather ideas and opin-ions from diverse sectors and to apply them into policies.

The second meeting, which kicks off on Mar. 20, will feature how to boost budget smart-phones. The third session will deal with unlimited internet address and the fourth one will be about how to strengthen research & development of information protection.

Choi plans to continue this meeting to listen to more voices from the ICT industry and colleges, the ministry’s official said.

Finance Minister Calls for Youth Employment in Finance Sector

S outh Korea’s Finance Minister Choi Kyung-hwan called on leaders in the finance industry to expand job creation for youth at the meeting on Sunday. Choi met with financial heads including Yim Jong-yong,

chairman of the Finance Services Commission, Zhin Woong-seob, chief of the Financial Supervisory Service and Ha Yung-ku, head of the Korea Federation of Banks.

“I called on them to create more jobs for youth, together with the ministry,” Choi told reporters after the meeting.

Yim also said, “We discussed the financial sector’s role to help the young gen-eration to land decent jobs.”

Having said that, it is not easy for the financial industry to expand employ-ment as the central bank dropped its key rate three times for the last one year and the profitability of the financial companies is getting worse.

“We positively responded to his remark though nothing was discussed in de-tail in terms of size and plans,” Ha Yung-ku said.

Choi also reportedly called for the financial sector to play a role in boosting the sluggish economy. “The minister told them to ramp up their efforts to create value-added in the industry, and the leaders positively responded to it,” said one official, who attended the meeting.

This gathering came as Choi wanted to build relationships with financial leaders, most of whom were replaced last year. Since parachute personnel be-came a hot issue last year, many were appointed from the private sector.

South Korean Gov't to Impose Sanctions on Kaesong Firms Complying with North's Demand

T he government will impose sanctions on companies that comply with North Korea's wage increase demand for workers in the Kaesong industrial complex. An official

with the Ministry of Unification said on March 10 in a forum with reporters, "We will soon send out an official correspondence to com-panies doing business in Kaesong not to conform to the wage hike de-mand recently made by the North Korean government and the south will impose administrative sanctions to those firms not complying with it."

Earlier on February 24, the North Korean government sent a notifi-cation that it would raise the minimum monthly wage to US$74 from $70.35 effective on April 10 (wages for March), with corresponding social insurance premiums by 15 percent."

The ministry official added, "Our ministry will review detailed sanctions such as restriction on company officials in visiting the north

or cuts in financial support. In whatever way we will try to make sure no firm to follow the north's unconsulted wage hike attempt."

Leaders of the association for South Korean firms in the Kaesong industrial complex said on March 5 in a meeting with ministry of-ficials that it is advisable for the government to send out official docu-ments to the firms in Kaesong in order not to cause confusion.

To this, officials of some companies in Kaesong complained that they will have to incur losses from refusal to work overtime by North Korean workers or, in the worst-case scenario, total withdrawal of workers from the complex. President of a company with an operating in the special industrial zone said, "I am sure there will be defecting firms. Unless the south government shows stern attitude not to bow to the demand of North Korea, we will have to keep being dragged by irrational demands of the north."

SMBA Administrator to Focus on job Creation, Export

M ar. 21 marks the second anniversary of the inau-guration of Han Jung-wha, head of South Korea’s Small and Medium Business Administration.

The former leader Hong Seok-woo, who also served as an eco-nomic minister, served for two years, the longest tenure in the agency’s history. However, the title is expected to be replaced by the incumbent administrator Han soon.

The lifespan of the former heads of the SMBA was not long with an average of one year as they were frequently replaced according to Blue House’s personnel reshuffle.

However, since Park Geun-hye’s administration was inaugurat-ed two years ago, this trend has changed. Currently, the commerce minister, foreign minister, agriculture minister and environment minister all retained their posts.

Other government agencies including heads of forest agency,

statistics agency, and meteorological agency all kept their posts. Among them, Han stands out from other leaders as he was the

first head of the SMBA, who came from the private sector. There were some concerns that he might not be well aware of

the mechanism of public organizations at first. However, he dis-pelled the worries by delegating all of the internal work to the sub-ordinate. Instead, he focused on laying out policy agenda to realize the creative economy. In the process, he pushed ahead with his plans without having to walk on eggshells like other leaders com-ing within the public sector.

He also successfully made a plan on financial eco-system for start-ups and the support system for mid-sized companies.

“He has shown good performance in developing policies on small and medium sized companies taking advantage of his ex-periences in the private sector,” an official from the agency said.

Korean Products to Spread Their Wings in the Global Market on GIGA Korea’s O2O Total Shopping Mall Platform

L ed by the Three Eastern Provinces, i.e. Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning, the Chinese economy had posted double digit growth for a decade. However, as China’s economic

growth has decelerated sharply since 2013, the Chinese government led by President Xi Jinping has set forth a new Silk Road initiative in order to soup up the Chinese economy. The new Silk Road ini-tiative revolves around creating a Silk Road economic belt, running from China through Central Asia to Europe, and building a land and maritime Silk Road of the21st century, stretching from Southeast Asia to Africa.

After striking an FTA with China, the Park Geun-hye government declared that it would ponder over the possibility of “Yellow Sea

Silk Road Express," a project linking the Korean peninsula directly with China, in a bid to realize the Eurasia initiative, one of President Park’s campaign pledges.

Amid such efforts for closer economic ties between S. Korea and China, a Korean businessman ventured into the Chinese market to help many SMEs suffering from the global economic slowdown and won an unprecedented large-scale business deal from China. Thus, The Korea IT Times accompanied him on his business trip to China to learn more about his successful entry into the Chinese market.

The Korean businessman who clinched such a large-scale deal from China is Kwon Oh-seok, chairman of Giga Korea. Chairman Kwon confidently laid out a roadmap for Korean SMEs’ entry into

the Chinese market, saying, “Korean SMEs will witness China’s insa-tiable demand for their products.”

Leading the fourth batch of Korean businessmen wishing to do business with China, Chairman Kwon is currently visiting Chinese business partners Citic Group and Guodunjuyi. In partnership with state-owned Chinese conglomerate Citic Group, Chairman Kwon has set up Korean Goods Store at Citic City Plaza Shenzhen. And he is the man who has brought about a paradigm shift in the way online malls are run by launching an O2O (Online to Offline), multi-settlement personalized shopping mall platform in China.

GIGA Korea’s online shopping mall platform, the world’s first com-prehensive online and offline shopping mall solution that benefits producers, sellers and buyers all at the same time, is a one-stop multi-settlement personalized shopping mall system that enables selling and buying to take place simultaneously under a single system in a hassle-free manner. In addition, by overcoming online language barriers and disparities in online payment systems among different nations, GIGA Korea’s platform allows global online shoppers to buy products eas-ily through their own online payment systems in their own language.

GIGA Korea’s platform also lets anyone in the world shop via their mobile phones without running into any language barriers. Whatever devices you have, wherever you are, you can shop online on GIGA Korea’s platform. Moreover, on GIGA Korea’s platform, it takes pro-ducers only a single mouse click to sell their competitively priced products both online and offline at the same prices without worrying about inventory pileups.

“Since GIGA Korea’s platform is an online and offline total shop-ping mall solution that lets anyone in the world buy or sell products with great ease, it will give rise to a paradigm shift in the way online malls are run. Besides, GIGA Korea’s platform begs to differ with Ali-baba, so it will overtake Alibaba in three years,” said Chairman Kwon.

Citic Shopping Center, run by Citic Group, one of Chi-na's biggest state-owned conglomerates

As a Korea IT Times reporter, I first visited Citic City Plaza Shen-zhen.

Chairman Kwon has already guided a group of Korean business-men wishing to open shops at Citic City Plaza Shenzhen to China on three occasions and helped them ink contracts directly with Citic Group Chairman Chang Zhenming. Citic City Plaza Shenzhen, one of China’s largest shopping malls frequented by young Chinese people, boasts daily foot traffic of 250,000 and is located at Science Museum Station in Futian District, Shenzhen. Citic City Plaza Shenzhen is also connected to the headquarters of Citic Group and currently houses roughly 1,000 local shops.

Giga Korea’s business partner Citic Group, a large state-owned en-terprise founded under Deng Xiaoping's emphasis on practical meas-ures for economic growth, started with a capital of 800 trillion yuan or won? It currently engages in approximately 40 business sectors and has numerous affiliates. After signing a joint venture deal with Citic

Group, Giga Korea formed a taskforce dedicated to its shopping mall business with Citic Group and had it stationed at Citic Group. The taskforce has thus far helped 180 Korean businesses open shops at Citic City Plaza Shenzhen. As of now, Giga Korea is working on the building of Korean Luxury Goods Store. Those who open shops at Ko-rean Luxury Goods Store will be offered exceptional treatment: they can operate rent-free for the first year and receive free legal advice services.

“In June last year, Citic Group Chairman Chang Zhenming paid a visit to Giga Korea’s research center located in Gaoxinqi Science Park. At that time, I explained to him in detail our O2O (On line to Off line) total shopping mall platform technology. Impressed by the workings of our platform, he expressed his willingness to invest in our technol-ogy. After the meeting with him, I became convinced that I could ex-pedite Korean SMEs’ entry into the Chinese market by helping them open shops at Citic City Plaza Shenzhen.

Guodunjuyi builds GD GIGA China in 32 provinces and 300 cities in China.

My next stop was Guodunjuyi, a Shenzhen-based Chinese com-pany that Giga Korea signed a contract with to launch the GIGA Ko-rea platform in China. Guodunjuyi plans to build GD GIGA China branches in 32 provinces and about 30 cities and to sell Giga Korea’s platform nationwide in China. In addition, it will assist 180 Korean companies, which open shops at Citic Shopping Center, in making forays into the global market.

“In China where counterfeit goods are abundant, Korean SMEs’ products will find favor with consumers. Guodunjuyi will first mar-ket their products in 300 Chinese cities and then expand its markets to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, the Arab world, the Persian Gulf nations, Muslim countries, etc.,” said Citic Shopping Center, CEO of Guodunjuyi.

“Thanks to Giga Korea’s platform, Guodunjuyi has been included in the CCTV 50 index, the first index released by China’s state media. Hence we earned the right to issue stocks worth 570 million yuan at the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) in August last year. GD GIGA China will grow into a leading O2O total shopping mall that outstrips China’s largest online malls Alibaba and Taobao in three years,” He added.

Technology that S. Korea shrugged off goes global. My third stop was Giga Korea’s research center in Gaoxinqi Sci-

ence Park. “The development of GIGA Korea’s online shopping mall platform dates back seven years. At that time, people were unfamiliar with the concept of total online and offline shopping mall platforms. And the online shopping mall market had already reached its satura-tion point. Therefore, people hardly dared to embark on the devel-opment of an online shopping mall platform. However, I waded into uncharted territory, with a view to providing Korean SMEs with un-conditional support,” Chairman Kwon mentioned. “S. Korea favors technologies developed either by large Korean conglomerates or well-known foreign companies. No matter how excellent a new technology is, it is rarely recognized in S. Korea. As a result, so many SMEs are folding at the moment,” Chairman Kwon added.

Guodunjuyi Posed to Market Korean Products Worldwide through GD GIGA China

By Monica YS Chung([email protected])

G IGA Korea’s business partner Guodunjuyi, a Shenzhen-based Chinese company, looks to build

branches of GD GIGA China in 32 provinces and 300 cities in China. While expanding its online and offline shopping business, Guo-dunjuyi has made a move to break into the medical sector: it signed an agreement with Zhong Guan Bioscience and Biotechnology Research Center to build the research center’s branch in Shenzhen. At the same time, it is busy hammering out a plan to assist Korean SMEs selling goods at GD GIGA’s online shopping mall or Citic City Plaza Shenzhen in entering overseas markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

GD GIGA China is a joint venture set up by GIGA Korea Chairman Kwon-Oh-seok and CEO of Guodunjuyi Zhaohzhang, CEO of Guodunjuyi. The CEO of Guodunjuyi was deeply moved by the products that the CEOs of Korean SMEs personally brought with them from S. Korea. “In China where counterfeit goods are overflowing, Chinese consum-ers highly favor Korean products. In cooperation with GIGA Korea, We will launch GD GIGA China’s shopping mall, based on GIGA Ko-rea’s unique platform technology, on April 1. And with the scheduled launch of the online shopping mall, we will spearhead President Xi Jinping’s new Silk Road initiative by marketing Korean products,” the CEO of Guodunjuyi said.

The following is an excerpt from the CEO of Guodun-juyi’s interview with the Korea IT Times.

What makes GD GIGA China’s online shopping mall different from other existing online shopping malls?

GD GIGA China’s online shopping mall is the first of its kind. This is a new-concept online shopping mall that no one has ever seen before.

Existing online marketplaces, like Alibaba and Taobao, allow sell-ers to sell and buyers to buy. People are so familiar with such a di-chotomous way of online trade that they would question the need for adopting another way of running an online shopping mall. However, once you have had a taste of GD GIGA China’s online shopping mall system, you will find a whole different world on the Internet.

GD GIGA China is a multi-settlement, per-sonalized shopping mall, where producers, sell-ers and buyers can easily build their own online shops by simply dragging and clicking. All you need to do is sign up. It lets selling and buying take place simultaneously without drawing a clear line between the two. For example, suppose that seller Tom puts a refrigerator up for sale on his online shop. Shopper Jim looking for consumer electronics happens to visit seller Tom’s online shop and drags the refrigerator to his online shop. Then, another shopper Jane buys the refrigerator on Jim’s online shop. Jim will receive some com-mission from seller Tom since the transaction was made thanks to Jim. It may sound complicated, but if you do it by yourself on our online mall, you will find it easy.

GIGA Korea’s tie-up with Guodunjuyi has fueled expectations for Korean SMEs’ robust entry into the Chinese market.

That’s true. I think things are looking up for Korean SMEs’ entry into China. Nearly 180 Korean businesses are to open shops on GD GIGA China’s online shopping mall. Most Korean businesses will sell consumer goods, beauty products and healthcare products, which are expected to find favor with China’s growing elderly population and young Chinese people loving the Korean Wave (or Hallyu).

Besides, the tariff barrier that had blocked trade of goods between the two nations has been lowered thanks to S. Korea-China FTA. What’s more, the Chinese government has been encouraging the ex-pansion of domestic demand and middle-class consumption, so the exports of Korean products to China will be made much easier.

What are Guodunjuyi’s future plans? We struck a partnership with GIGA Korea more than a year ago.

We have thus far made preparations for the successful launch of GD GIGA China. The official launch date for GD GIGA China’s online shopping mall is April 1. A signal flare to trumpet the beginning of a new paradigm of online shopping will be fired on the day. Later, 300 Chinese cities will fire signal flares for the same reason, followed by Southeast Asian nations (e.g. Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, etc.), Southwest Asian nations (e.g. Turkey and Saudi Arabia), North Africa and then the Middle East.

Zhaohzhang, CEO of Guodunjuyi E-commerce of China

let computers has made the bricks and clicks model (or the O2O (On-line to Offline) business model) sweep across all industries. Global companies like Facebook and Amazon are also increasingly expand-ing their O2O services. Noteworthy is that Giga Korea has been en-gaged in the O2O business for a long time and has plenty of knowhow and patents under its belt.

The secret of Giga Korea’s successful entry into the Chinese market lies in its solution to online security issues. Information security has been a hot-button issue in and outside S. Korea. Maintaining informa-tion security requires strict regulations and technologies. The Chinese government is keen on scaling up information security.

“Since GIGA Korea is a foreign company, the Chinese government didn’t want personal information of Chinese people to be stored in our GIGA Korea solution. However, to operate our platform, personal information needed to be stored in our database. Thus, we have de-veloped a solution that transmits personal information to China’s na-tional security network server the moment any personal information is fed into our server and leaves behind converted bogus information in our server,” Chairman Kwon explained.

“China’s national security network server is run by three Chinese officials of different ranks, who have different cryptographic keys us-ing different encryption algorithms. Thus, its system is designed to nip any attempts, even by insiders, to leak information in the bud,” said Chairman Kwon.

“We expect that 100 million numeral domains, one million pro-ducer accounts, 100,000 super administrator accounts, 10 million web pages, one million CP contents would be created by 2018. In the pro-

cess, we will help Korean SMEs make forays into the global market in earnest. On the offline front, we will build more Korean goods stores in China, Vietnam, Cambodia, etc. so as to speed up their expansion into overseas markets,” Chairman Kwon said.

My last stop to wrap up this story was GIGA Korea’s lecture room, located at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX). At the lec-ture room, the fourth batch of CEOs of Korean SMEs shared their thoughts on the group visit to China and their future plans. The CEOs said that the S. Korean government’s efforts to ease tricky customs clearance procedures and licensing issues left much to be desired. They called for the formation of task forces for speedy responses to various business issues by sector.

“GIGA Korea’s platform breaks down the barrier between online and offline sales and works towards creating a new economic struc-ture by encouraging complementary interaction. Unfortunately, the S. Korean government’s indifference to this platform made me give up on its domestic market debut and head for overseas markets. GIGA Korea’s first overseas destination was China. As soon as I made up my mind, I hopped on a flight to Shenzhen with 17 researchers. On the flight to China, I was really at a loss just like Columbus hopelessly navigating uncharted waters in search of a new continent,” Chairman Kwon recalled.

“GIGA Korea will present a solution to the issue of failed capital-ism discussed at the World Economic Forum in Davos. And we will create a new environment, where Korean SMEs feel the happiest and young people can paint a rosy picture about their future,” Chairman Kwon said.

Good Dream Warm Water Mat Completely Blocking Electromagnetic Waves

By Yeon Choul-woong([email protected])

S outh Korea’s high-profile mat provider Good Dream Warm Water Mat (www.gooddream7.com) has recently unveiled a new mat completely blocking electromagnetic waves.

The mat is 5 centimeter in thick, which is the perfect thickness to block electromagnetic waves and to ease pressure from blocking the flow of hot water when a person lies. Currently, most mats on the market are around 1.8 centimeter in thick, which does not block elec-tromagnetic waves.

Good Dream Warm Water Mat’s new products include “Giga Func-tional Warm Water Mat,“Giga Two in One Mat: Mother and Baby” and “Giga88 Four Season Mat.”

“Giga Functional Warm Water Mat” features functional sheets con-taining 300 non-woven pockets which have eco-friendly materials such as red clay, elvan, cypress, jade and amethyst inside. When ap-plying heat to the mat, they emit far-infrared radiation, phytoncide and anion to improve users’ health.

“Giga Two in One Mat: Mother and Baby,” which passed an interna-tional patent ElectroMagnetic Fields Testing, uses one boiler for two mats. The company said this is particularly good for mothers and their babies, who need to keep their bodies warm. It has a separated heating system to help adjust temperatures for mothers and their babies.

“Giga88 Four Season Mat” is the first mat which users can use throughout four seasons. It completely blocks electromagnetic waves, and also prevents fire thanks to its three layered safety system. It can conveniently be washable with the separated cover.

So far, most inexpensive hot water mats sold via Home shopping channels do not come with warranty. However, Good Dream Warm

Zhaohzhang, CEO of Guodunjuyi E-commerce (Shenzhen) of China (left) and Park Jung-hee, President of Good Dream Warm Water Mat (right) are running the block-ing electromagnetic waves test for Giga88 Four Season Mat.

Giga 88 Four Season Mat completely blocks electromagnetic waves. Other brands can not blook electromagnetic waves.

Water Mat is the first one which has international patents to prevent electromagnetic waves, its spokesperson said.

The eco-friendly mats, sold in Giga Korea shopping platform, is currently well received especially in China’s Qingdao, Shanghai, Yanji and Shenzhen. The company is set to sign a deal with China’s CCTV in Shanghai on Mar. 16.

S outh Korea’s transportation card industry has seen a dramatic growth in terms of size and tech-

nology since it was first adopted in 1996. This month, Korea Railroad Corporation said the coverage of transportation card dubbed “Rail+” is expanded into taxis ser-vice, apart from public transportation in-cluding bus and subway.

Now, companies are developing new ser-vices, which can be compatible with trans-portation overseas.

Unlike conventional thoughts that the card business is only done by large firms, there are many small and medium enter-prises working on relevant technologies.

Brain Core, actively pushing ahead with technologies compatible with services in China, is a good example.

“We visited CITIC – China’s one of the largest conglomerates – together with the chairman of Giga Korea in a bid to sign a

memorandum of understanding for the transportation card business,” said Kwak Chang-geun, chief of Brain Core, in an interview with Korea IT Times.

“With only one card, passengers can conveniently use both nation’s transportation services,” he added.

If the service is successfully launched, it would be the nation’s first service, compatible with overseas countries.

Brain Core said it has comprehensive technologies including finance, security and member-ship to better jump into China’s market.

This is a surprise move as even the compatibility within the nation took almost seven years because of the complexity of the technologies which include integrated circuit cards, radio frequency terminal and database system.

Industry watchers said Brain Core’s integration technology is also expected to contribute to the shopping mall business being carried out by CITIC.

Last year, South Korea’s President Park Geun-hye proposed transportation cards compat-ible in Asian regions. Some voice concerns that this would require significant investment to overcome technical obstacles. There is a high expectation on Brain Core whether it could suc-cessfully make inroads into China’s market.

P eople in a modern society are exposed to various digital devices such as smartphones, computers and televisions, increasingly suffering from eye strain and fatigue.

When you use a laptop for over two hours, it can significantly in-crease your eye fatigue and lead to vision loss, according to “Digital Eye Strain Report 2015” recently published by the Vision Council, a non-profit organization.

Unlike paper, the digital display emits strong electromagnetic waves, and this advances aging process and leads to dry eye syn-drome. It can also affect daily life, which requires high concentration ability such as studying or driving, as eyes are directly related to brain.

BM Biotechnology, a dry-eye treatment device developer, has cur-rently developed “Brain Med” and “Eyeglasses for driving,” which pre-vents users’ eye fatigue and helps increase their concentration with a material of Xero-M.

The company is now ramping up its efforts to develop new medical devices to help cure eye fatigue and dry eyes in partnership with col-lege hospitals, research institutes and governments.

In line with this, the company is also finding good partners and investors.

“We are seeking partners including developers of smart wearable devices related to eye fatigue, producers of online learning materials and global partners willing to co-develop new products,” said Kim Hee-gu, chief of the company, in an interview with Korea IT Times.

The company said its new technology, which helps increase concen-tration by reducing eye fatigue, can be applied on diverse products.

“We will take the lead in the eye treatment device market by devel-oping new health care products including eye glasses for 3D, com-puter and game,” he said.

H ealth is everyone’s wish. If you have everything except for health, that would mean nothing to you. More and more South Koreans are showing an interest in healthy diet. Still,

its traditional spicy meals are threatening the public health, according to study. The World Health Organization’s latest data shows that Ko-reans consume 12 gram of salt a day on average, 2.3 times the recom-mendation by the WHO.

Sodium in salt is necessary but it may cause high blood pressure and cardiac disorder if it is excessive. The Health Ministry is launching a campaign to reduce the consumption of sodium to prevent various diseases.

Recently, salicornia, a medical herb, is grabbing attention in South Korea, which can add nutrient and help people become healthier. It is used as medicinal herb in China and seasoning for salad in some western countries for salad

It is found near coast, mud flat and salt pond in South Korea’s west-ern and southern coast. It is around 10 to 30 centimeters in height, and scaly leaf are edged with each eggplant.

which help treat coprostasis and obesity. It is also effective for losing weight and preventing high blood pressure and diabetes.

It also contains choline, which improves memory, and kalium to help emit sodium. It has kalium three times oyster, removing wastes inside blood vessel and blood. The herb also has enzyme to help dis-solve unnecessary fats sticking to blood vessel, organs, blood and cells.

Homano, a local salicornia provider, has long ramped up its efforts to develop new products and provide customized services based on its effectiveness, ways of consumption and consumers’ nature.

The firm is selling diverse product lines including salicornia pill, which is easy to consume, and powder, which can be used for any meals. The power can replace salt, the company said.

“I f you are not able to walk well, you may not live long,” as the saying goes. If you can’t walk well, you would exercise less and this would damage your health.

According to a recent study done in South Korea, old people, who are not able to walk well, are 1,67 times more likely to die early than those who are not.

Degenerative arthritis is an infamous disease making people un-able to walk because of serious pain. The disease occurs in 40 per-cent of people over sixty, and 85 percent of people in their 55s to 65s are likely to have the disease in the future.

When you are diagnosed with degenerative arthritis, you get

medication or physical therapy first. If the symptom gets excessive, you need to have surgery, which insets an artificial joint to replace the worn cartilage of the joint.

In order to prevent the surgery, the best precautionary measure is to realign the deformation of a leg, by making a habit of properly walking.

People in South Korea are increasingly seeking shoe inserts, a part of methods to treat and prevent foot problems for healthy walk.

“Mubal” developed by Moon Hong-hoe, chairman of KCM and a former patient of degenerative arthritis, is the world’s first shoe in-serts which hold the balance from knees and hip joints to spines and cervical spines based on ergonomic design.

The company applied for a patent for Mubal in China and the Unit-ed States apart from in South Korea.

“When I look back on my past, I realized that nothing is more im-portant than health,” Moon said in an interview with Korea IT Times.

“One day, I was climbing up a mountain and I felt a slight pain in my knees. But I just overlooked it and thought that I was just aging. Later, I regret that I did not treat it early,” he said.

That experience led him to develop “Mubal” to help people who suffer from similar pains like him.

The following are excerpts of the interview with chairman Moon. Korea IT Times: You must have lost the will to live because of the

serious pain of your knees. How did you overcome it?Moon Hong-hoe: I regret a lot at first. When pain grew, I could not

able to exercise or walk, and this made me lose the will to live. When I saw a doctor, he said the disease is not curable. I had to have a few cartilage shots and surgery.

KIT: Did that experience lead you to develop Mubal?Moon: That time, a professor from Arizona University told me

three ways to make show inserts to treat the knees. Because I was so desperate, I started to make it by gluing inserts to each other and by adjusting angles as he told me. At first, I didn’t expect it at all. But when I put it inside my shoes to go out, I was amazed that it actually relieved my pain.

Mubal, Shoe Inserts, Guarantees Healthy Walking

KIT: What kind of effectiveness can we expect from Mubal in detail?

Moon: For starter, it has a sliding function to help landing line, starting from the outside of the heel to end at finish toe, to move to the center of the heel and center of index and middle toe, to help people to walk straight.

Based on ergonomic design, the center-line of slide serves as a lever to move the balance of the body to left and right. This stretches the squashed nerves from hallux valgus to lumbar to cervical verte-bral to mitigate shoulder pain, numb arms, varicose veins and cold feet.

Its pumping function actively circulates blood of pelvic limb to mitigate diseases such as leg edema caused by circulatory distur-bances such as plantar fasciitis and varicose veins, and thus it sig-nificantly reduces fatigue of the entire body.

Also, the materials of Mubal are comprised of tourmaline which helps aeremia circulation, antibacterial effects and deodorization. It also includes germanium, which the World Health Organization recognizes as anticancer drug, and amethyst which has life-friendly wavelength.

The company has applied orthotics, which helps children over seven grow faster and have a balanced figure.

KIT: It seems good for correcting figure and foot health. Do you have any last word for readers?

Moon: It has been long for people to have an interest in foot health historically. If one can control their disease without using outside help, t would be the best. Human’s organs have reflective balls to respond to foot so when it is stimulated, it controls func-tions of each organs and aeremia. This will thus strengthen organs, improve immunity and prevents diseases.

We hope many people can be healthier by correcting their posi-tion and kicking the habit of poor walking through Mubal.

BeautyBeauty

By Yeon Choul-woong([email protected])

A t the early stage of Korean wave, cultural contents like Korean soap opera and K-POP played integral parts, but now the baton was handed over to Korean luxury brands.

As Korea has emerged as the global hub in regard to cultural contents, consumers abroad has been interested more in Korea’s beauty. Against this backdrop, Korean luxury brands are actively trying to enhance their brand values. The era of ‘Korean luxury brands’ are in full swing.

K-Beauty becoming the vanguard of K-Wave The spearhead in the era of Korean luxury brands is indeed K-Beau-

ty. Recently, the Korean cosmetic industry has not relied on Korean wave, and there come many brands targeting local consumers abroad with noble ingredients and high techonology based on distingushied brand stories.

Sulwhasoo, Korea’s beauty brand, are reckoned to be Korea’s luxry brand in Thailand and China with the concept of ‘Holistic Beauty’ which gives you the beauty of harmony and balace with Asia’s phi-losophy and wisdom. In particular, the brand storytelling gains much attention since it wins the sympathy from Asian consumers. Sulwha-soo’s storytelling where traditional herbal plants like ginseng, familiar

to Asians, recreate new power to care fundamentally your skins with advanced dermatology has strengthened its brand value as Korea’s representative beauty brand. In addition, Sulwhasoo is also making an effort to optimize its customers’ needs by conducting a regular sur-vey and making the result reflected on the product as the follow-up.

Through these strategies, Sulwhasoo are enjoying popularity among local celebrities. In Thailand, Sulwhasoo succeeded to be lo-calized with targeting many celebs, called ‘Highso’ in brevity of High-Society. In China, Jang bai-ji, Chinese top star, purchased Sulwhasoo’s Perfecting cushion in Xin Guang Tian Di departmentstore, Beijing, and it went viral to make the brand become more popular. Liang Jing, winner of Chinese Oscar, Golden Horse Award is also widely known as Sulwhasoo mania.

With this effort, it has been reckoned to be No. 1 herbal beauty brand and the luxrury brand with noble ingredients and advanced techonology, so Chinese tourists think Sul-whasoo’s beauty products are on the top of their shopping list when they travel to Korea. This is evidenced by the fact that Sulwhasoo was ranked the 1st in the survey of ‘Chinese most favoriate Korean luxury brand’ conducted in last October by Chinese press, Renminwang.

With its growing popularity in China, Sulwhasoo has constantly in-creased the number of local stores from 22 in 2012, 28, in 2013, 46 in 2014 and 48 in 2015. Green Cross to expand its Chinese Business with New Technology Promoting the area of cell therapy products as a new egine of growth through organic development and overseas investment

B undang CHA General Hospital (CHAMC, http://bun-dang.chamc.co.kr/) announced that the research led by Prof. Lee Sun-chul in orthopedic surgery was chosen by

National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NASA) as its national policy research to conduct long-term drug tests on mice.

Currently, Prof. Lee is doing his research on osteanagenesis in coop-eration with three other professors in University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) including Kang Ting, Chia Soo and Jin Hee Kwak.

The on-going research is aiming to develop a cure for preventing osteoporosis and promoting bone formation by using of NELL-1, protein for bone formation with the UCLA research team headed by Prof. Lee and Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CA-SIS) working together.

signed the MOU with Guizhou province in China to invest in the area of cell therapy products on March, 6. The agreement makes the invest-ment in local production and supply the key points.

In addition, it also says that the Guizhou province offers every facil-ity for selection and certification of production units to Green Cross so that the investment may bring successful results.

The MOU seems to result from the coincidence of interests between the two partners. Green Cross has been seeking the advance into the global market while the Guizhou province has attracted foreign in-vestment to build specialized bio zone in China.

which have osteoporosis from surgery for two months in the inter-national space station, the UCLA research team will conduct related tests and analyze the results.

It is appropriate under microgravity to do research on tissue cells since you can watch the connectivity between cells without interfer-ence of gravity. In particular, the research under microgravity is ex-pected to bring new treatment in osteoporosis where is believed to be hardly recovered.

“As people live longer, the number of osteoporosis patients is also increasing. In space, gravity is relatively weak compared to that in the earth, so your bone can become weaker when you stay longer in the space. If this research is done successfully, it is highly likely to become a landmark for treatment of osteoporosis and help mankind advance into the space,” said Prof. Lee Sun-chul.

Green Cross to make a decision of investment in the region. Despite increased market access to the Chinese market and its rapid growth, the slow procedure of permission has been pointed out as the reasom of multinational pharmaceutical companies facing challenges in the Chinese market.

Moreover, it is said that Green Cross’ reputation, which has been raised by its business of blodd products for about two decades in Chi-na, might work positive for its market expansion.

Green Cross has a plan to promote cell therapy products as its new engine of growth though the organic development and investment in bio companies. The market value of cell therapy products in the world amounts to $100 billion and records 20 percent of growth rate, so Green Cross thinks that it is highly likely to grow further in the future.

“We will phase investment in, given the potential of growth in cell therapy products and the Chinese pharmaceutical market,” said an official from Green Cross, “We will conclude a formal agreement any-time soon.”

stan, Mongolia and Canada) had visited the Wooridul Spine Hospital (WSH), up over 35% from a year earlier. Recently, the number of for-eign patients from the Middle East has grown noticeably, thus contrib-uting appreciably to the year-on-year growth of 35%.

“Korean medical technologies are excellent, but it is still not easy for foreign patients to come all the way to a foreign country to get medical help. Thus, government-level promotions for Korean hospitals should be mounted on a continuing basis. I hope having the nation’s advanced treatment of spinal disorders, as well as other superb Korean medical technologies, certified by international accreditors will eventually lead to more foreign patients in the know about the nation’s medical prow-ess, therefore saving more people from the pains of various illnesses,” said Lee Sang-ho, Chairman of the WSH.

5lb more than those who did no extra exercise. Those doing yoga for an average of three months also saw their blood pressure fall and levels of bad cholesterol drop, the European Journal of Preventive Cardiol-ogy reports.

Some of the studies even showed yoga to be more effective than pre-scription medicines. In one trial involving those at risk of heart prob-lems, blood pressure dropped almost three times as much when doing yoga compared to when taking pills.

Yoga also helped patients who already had heart disease and were being treated for it. But the most exciting findings revolve around ex-ercise.

The analysis concluded yoga was as good as conventional physical activity in improving heart health. Researcher Myriam Hunink, of Er-asmus University in the Netherlands and Harvard University in the US, said: ‘Yoga may provide the same benefits in risk factor reduction as traditional physical activity such as cycling or brisk walking.

‘This study’s findings are promising, showing some improvement in blood pressure, cholesterol and weight, which are risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

GD GIGA China

By Monica YS Chung([email protected])

GIGA China

GD GIGA China

GD GIGA China

GD GIGA China

GD GIGA China

GD GIGA China

GD GIGA China

GD GIGA China

By Lee Kyung-ho([email protected])

(Sea Beans, Sea

By Shin Ji-hye([email protected])
