Dear Colleagues ,

Welcome to Gods own country. Kerala is a perfect

destination for nature, culture and relaxation. With its laid-back

beaches, Chinese fishing nets, Jewish synagogue, Tropical

backwaters, and so on, you'll soon realise why National Geographic

Traveller voted Kerala as one of its ‘Ten Paradise Found’. It has well

preserved ancient and contemporary temples which attracts

devotees. You may also enjoy the traditional Ayurvedic spa

treatment.

Kochi is the Business Capital of the state. You can go on a shopping

spree on MG road, Broadway or in the largest shopping mall in the

country - Lullu Mall.

Kerala is every food-lover's paradise. Kerala cuisine offers a

multitude of dishes, ranging from the traditional sadya to seafood

delicacies. ere are many fascinating elements that make Kerala

an ideal family holiday destination .

‘Nari Keram’ (Nari means Lady and Keram stands for Kerala – the

land of coconut palms) the Spouse & Kids programme is an

initiative by spouses of members of KOA (Kerala Orthopaedic

Association). We have various entertainment, culinary and crafts

activities planned for you. All of us are eagerly waiting for your

visit. Do come and be a part of it.

ere are various tours and entertainment programme that we

have planned for all age groups. Hope you like it. We have

bargained with the Organising Committee, and got all the tours

free of cost, but unfortunately we have limited seats so we will only

be able to offer this facility on a first come first serve basis. Do

Register before November 30th for a confirmed seat. Spouses who

have not registered for the conference will not be eligible for free

Lulu mall is the largest shopping mall in India and the 89th largest shopping mall in the world.

Spanning over 17 acres with 215 outlets including various international brands, food courts, restaurants, family entertainment zones, multiplex, ice skating ring and bowling alley. Its going to be fun for all. ere will be a bus starting at 9.30 am from the parking area and will return by 4.00 pm. Lunch will

be served at the food court in the mall. Coupons of 500 rupees will be given which can be spent at any of the allocated food counters. Coupons which are not used cannot be redeemed for money. Do Register Before November 30th

TOUR 1 - SHOPPER’S TREAT - LULU MALL

Another idol is worshipped at Kadathuruthi aliyil Mahadeva temple, our next stop. is is one of the best known Shiva temples in Kerala.

Kerala is the land of many popular temples. One such temple is the Mahadeva temple at Vaikom which will be our first stop. It is one of the oldest temples in Kerala. e presiding deity is Lord Shiva. It is believed that Khara a demon was given 3 idols by Lord Shiva as gift. One of these idols is worshipped in Vaikom temple.

Chottanikara Bhagavathi temple is famous for its temple architecture. Chottanikara Devi is worshipped in 3 different forms as Saraswathi, Lakshmi and Durga.

A bus will start from the parking area at 5.30 am as temples open in the early morning, and reach backin the afternoon. Packed breakfast will be served on the bus due to time constrains. Lunch will be provided.

It is a leading amusement park situated in a total area of 30 acres on a small hill. It has a total of 55 rides with 26 water rides. All age groups enjoy the park with rides for kiddies, families and to the adventurous, the riller Rides. ere is special dancing floor featuring rain showers, musical fountain and laser shows. e ticket with a cost of 1200 is given free of cost for the registered delegates. is trip includes a lunch buffet with veg and non veg dishes.

e trip will start by 9.30 am from the Parking area and return back to venue by 5.00 pm. Do Register before November 30th to book a seat. Kindly mention while booking if there is an extra person for whom payment will have to be done.

TOUR 2 - SPIRITUAL TOUR

Ernakulam Shiva temple is our final stop. It is also known as Ernakulathappan temple. It is dedicatedto Lord Shiva. e Deity called Ernakulathappan means Lord of Ernakulam who , is believed to be

the protector of the city. Legend has it that Arjuna from Panchapandava of Mahabharata, made the Shivalingam worshipped here.

e first stop of your excursion will be Chinese Fishing Nets. You will watch the fishermen in action of operating the nets and selling catch to the customers. After that, walk to the Fort Kochi heritage city for a feel of the ancient European city.

is walk will culminate at the St. Francis Church which is the oldest European church in India. is church is also memorial to Vasco da Gama as it was inside

this church that the great explorer was buried for 14 years until his mortal remains was taken away to Lisbon.

After visiting the tomb of Vasco da Gama the tour will proceed to spice market

Next stop is the ancient Jew town in Kochi. Jews here is a special community. Their strength is just a few. e Jews worship at the Synagogue. e Synagogue in Mattancherry is the oldest active

Synagogue in the Commonwealth of nations. e Jewish town still holds its ancient residential buildings, some of them are stores that sell souvenirs and gifts like jewellery, silks, stones,

precious metals, Kashmir carpets and shawls.

Next stop of the tour will be at the Dutch Palace Museum. This ancient building was the residence of the past rulers of Kochi. e palace building itself is unique in that it mixes different styles of architecture. Inside is a wonderful collection of murals on the walls. ese murals are considered to be most beautiful .Colours are so vibrant that it is even vivid on the wall even after 200 years of existence.

ere will be a bus at 9.30 am from the parking area and will return by 4.00 pm to the venue. Lunch will be served at a hotel at Fort Cochin. Do register before November 30th to book a seat. Note : Synagogue and Dutch palace is closed on Friday 16th December

ENTERTAINMENTDress code for Banquet will be traditional attire of the respective statesLadies, Gentlemen, Kids, Grandpas and Grandmas get digging in your cupboard for those traditional attires of your state. e delegates who are interested in taking part in the competition will have to walk on the ramp. ey will be judged, and the best team wearing the traditional attire that represent their state will win.

A prize will also be given to the best dressed couple, 3 best dressed persons and the best dressed family in traditional attire of theirrespective states.

e judge’s decision will be final

Soorya Krishnamoorthy, is the founder of SOORYA Stage and Film Society

the largest cultural society of the world and also the Best run society in the

country. Soorya has its Chapters in 36 countries in the world -Soorya aims at

Culture". Soorya is now heading towards the 36th year of it's dedicated service

for the cause of promotion of art and culture. As per the Limca Book of World Records :

He joined Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) as a scientist / engineer in 1972. Worked under scientists, Bharat Ratna A.P.J. Adbul Kalam (Former President of India), and the like, for a period of 27 years, and took voluntary retirement to concentrate more on cultural activities.
