We had some very excited children attend school yesterday, as our 2021 Foundation

students had their first Orientation session. They were greeted by their siblings and Mrs Moulsdale at 12.30pm and spent the afternoon with her until 3.00pm. I had our current F/1 students due to COVID restrictions and the Departments guidelines. The next transition session is on Thursday 26th November from 8.45am to 11.30am. We look forward to having you back! Last Thursday, Junior School Council hosted a crazy hair day to coincide with our F/1 SMART Spelling word of the week ‘hair’. It was fantastic to see how creative our families were with everything from coloured hair, to patterns, to cupcakes, to donuts, to beehives, to big hair, to smooth hair, to mini pigtails, to wired hair and so on. Refer to our Classroom Wrap Page for photos of our Crazy Hair Day.

We had a very successful Curriculum Day last week. We reviewed 2020 looking at various aspects of what has been a very interesting

year. We had a professional learning session on PAT Assessments with one of the Shepparton Network Consultants. We then continued planning for 2021. Our Grade structures have been quite challenging as our numbers have been fluctuating significantly. After lots of discussion and careful consideration I can confirm our 2021 grade structure:

F/1 ~ Mrs Deanne Moulsdale 1/2 ~ Miss Ashlea Baker

3/4 ~ Miss Amanda Posteraro

5/6 ~ Mr Mitchell Zito Mrs Tracey Opie will continue to support our students in the classroom and some administration support. Mrs Lisa Irwin as out Business Manager. I will have a teaching load as well as my Principal role. Our visiting Library and Art Services will continue in 2021. There are a couple of other staffing arrangements that are also in the pipeline but these positions will be determined by our budget.

We received an email on Thursday to inform us that we were unsuccessful with our application for the School Shade Sails application. I had applied to put shade sails over our playground areas. I contacted the School Shade Sails team to get specific feedback on our application. I will re-apply taking the feedback on board next year to further strengthen our submission when this grant opportunity comes around again. As you are aware we were successful in gaining a $2,000 grant from Bank First to go towards purchasing robotic resources. It is with great pleasure that I announce that Kialla Central Primary School is now the proud owner of Dash, Dot and Cue Bots to extend the coding our students have been doing with Mr Zito in Digital Technology. This is a significant investment that I am extremely proud of. It wouldn’t have been possible with Bank First, our hard working Parents Club who contributed some of their fundraising money towards this purchase as well as school funds. I look forward to the day when we can showcase our students coding skills to families and friends.

The Minor Works Capital Grants have not yet been announced. This is where we have applied

for our carpark project. In the interim, I have writ-ten to Rural Roads Victoria (RRV), requesting a reduced speed limit during school times. I was able to quote and use the data Peter Blake had researched and used in our carpark application. Our letter is timely as RRV, the City of Greater Shepparton and local Victorian Police Highway Patrol will review the speed zones leading into Kialla Central. I am confident that our letter will be seriously considered, as Regional Roads Victoria have supported our car park application financially. Reducing the speed limit to 40km/h during school

so much safer. Next Tuesday 17th November is our School Photo day with MSP Photography. It’s time to get out the extra polish and shine! Please

ensure your child/ren are at school by 8.45am as that is when school photos will start. There are no group photos this year, but class photos will be made up of individual photos. See information from MSP below. Family photos will still be taken, but it is brothers and sisters only - no cousins. The Scouts and Schools Monster Raffle has been put back due to COVID-19 restrictions. This will now be drawn on Friday 4th December. NAIDOC Week celebrations are being held across Australia between 8th and 15th of November to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples. NAIDOC Week is celebrated not only in Aboriginal communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. This year’s theme is: Always Was, Always Will Be.

We have had the pleasure of Miss Josie Caruso teaching with Mr Zito and the 5/6 students for the past 3 weeks. She is

completing her 3rd year of her teaching degree through La Trobe University. Miss Caruso will finish at K.C.P.S. next week. We wish her every success for the future. Thank you to Tim Daws and Bob Scott who mowed our school grounds recently!

Thanks to Peter Blake for creating a fire break on the south boundary fence of Dalton’s property.
