KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3

A big thank you to Parents’ Club who organised and hosted our 3rd Time

Out for The Girls on Sunday. The format was a community market with a number of different stalls. Please refer to attached flyer of all the business and individuals who supported our school. I encourage you to return the favour and support these businesses in the future, where possible. Our hard working Parents’ Club members are: Deanne Moulesdale (President), Amy Keat (Secretary), Wendy Kennedy (Treasurer), Lisa Irwin, Tracy Blake, Annette Hunt, Zoi Tricarico, & Bonnie Morgan.

I would like to make a very special mention and thank Ange Marchant from Angies Cakes and Bakes. She made and donated 100 brownies of 3 different varieties for our Time Out for The Girls fundraising event. Her business card with her contact details are included in this newsletter.

Last Thursday our Foundation to Grade 3 students attended the Ditto Show. Our students learnt about personal safety and staying safe, as well as having some fun singing with Ditto. This program conveys some very important messages to students in a fun and non threatening manner.

New Child Safety Standards were introduced that apply to all organisations involved in

child related work in Victoria. New policies and procedures have been implemented in schools to ensure we are compliant with Ministerial Order 870.

Next week our Grade 3 & 5 students will undertake the National Assessment Program- Literacy & Numeracy (NAPLAN) that is undertaken Nationwide. It is one form of assessment that tests the sorts of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling and numeracy. It is made up of four areas: reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar & punctuation) & numeracy.

This coming Thursday our Grades 3 to 6 students are participating in the East

Goulburn Primary School Sports Association’s Cross Country at Victoria Park Lake. We will be leaving school at 12.30pm and returning by 3.15pm. The top 10 runners from each age group qualify for District Cross Country on Friday 12th May at Princess Park. 10 & under age group run 2kms 11 y.o. & 12/13 y.o all run 3kms. The age groups are split into boys and girls races. The first race starts at 1.00pm with 15 minute gaps between races. Parents are welcome to come down to the Lake to watch. Hot lunches started today. Please make sure lunches are wrapped well in foil, clearly named and are not frozen. Our hot lunch monitors work out their heating times based on food only requiring to be heated and not defrosted and then heated. Please also remember

to pack your own sauce, spoons or forks or any other extras your child require for their lunch. Thank you for your assistance.

We are in the midst of organising our Education Week Activities including our Open Day. This week of special

celebrations is from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th May. Our Open Day is on Wednesday 24th at 9.15am and 10.15am. Flyers have been sent to Kinders, posted on our Facebook page and I have attached a copy to this newsletter. We have started the enrolment process for our siblings who will be starting school next year. We have 7 siblings: Erin, April, Ella, Ava, Mikayla, Dylan, Isaac and wait for it… Oscar Zito! Please encourage anyone you know who has a child starting school next year to come to our Open Day. We are off to a fantastic start! Students have started on their Mother’s Day gifts for Mum or someone special. Last week a note was sent home seeking $5.00 per student for their present. At K.C.P.S. our students make or decorate their own gifts ensuring they are one of a kind. They do this as part of our Design Technologies sessions. I’m sure our Mums or special person will love their unique one of a kind gift. Congratulations to Laurell (our cleaner) & her family for the arrival of another grandchild.

Ethan arrived last week & is the 3rd child for Jess & Darren Healey. Our thoughts are also with Laurell as her Mum unfortunately passed away on ANZAC Day.

Finally, Mr Zito will be on leave for the next 3 weeks. I will be teaching his grade

on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Mrs O’Donnell will be teaching them on Thursdays and Fridays. Mr Z has planned the work his grade needs to cover during this time so it will be business as usual. Debbie Humphries

K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition 2017 Talking Footy with Bomber 10

Round 6 Wrap

On Friday night the Giants and the Bulldogs played a tight game in Canberra but in the end the Giants had a 2 point win over the Bulldogs.

On Saturday afternoon the Saints had a big win over the Hawks by 75 points in Tasmania. The Blues had win over the winless Swans by 19 points at the “G” and the Power had a big away win over the Lions by 83 points at the “GABBA”.

On Saturday night the Kangaroos had their first win of the 2017 season when they defeated the Suns by 13 points at Etihad Stadium and the Eagles had a good win over the Dockers by 41 points over in the West.

On Sunday the Demons had a good win over the Bombers by 38 point at Etihad, the Magpies bounced back to defeat the Cats by 29 points at the “G” and to complete round 6, the Crows remain undefeated when they defeated the Tigers at the Adelaide Oval by the big margin of 76 points.

Footy Tipping Stars of the Week – for round 6 were – Demons, Patsi M and Tristan who all tipped 7. Great tipping everyone. Well done to Tristan as I think this is the first time he has been a Footy Tipping Star of the Week.

Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders – for round 6 are: - Crazy TC’s and Fope’s Heroes on 37, Tiger Trouble on 36, Bomber 10, Coralie, Magic Magpie, Patsi M, Specky Magee and Two Tigers on 35.

Pie Time those Magpies are not being very kind to you as they seem to loose when you tip them and win when you don’t. Just saying!

Footy Tippers please make sure that you mark your tips for all games as the last two weeks there have been sheets with not all tips marked.

Apologies for the wrong Ladder being shown last week. Those pesky gremlins reared their ugly heads.

The Jackpot currently stands at $94:10

Good tipping everyone!
