Work in groups of 4. Ask each other questions to know who recycles newspapers, plastic bottles, glass bottles, aluminium cans, used paper. Present your findings in the graph.

1. Answer the questions:
• What will happen to these items when they end up in the landfill?
• Do they disappear / decompose immediately? Or will they continue to take up space in the landfill?
2. Think on your own about how long each of the items on the list might last when buried in a landfill.
Make a list by writing each item in order according to how long they think it might last in a landfill. Start your lists with the item you think will degrade fastest and end with the one that will last the longest.

Start your own recycling program! You can recycle used paper into a real paper cup. Follow the instructions.
Step 1:Take your square piece of paper.
Step 2: Fold your square on the diagonal, matching up corners A and B.
Step 3: Fold corner of A to edge B.
Step 4: Fold corner A to corner B.
Step 5: Take the top flap (flap A) and fold down toward you. Turn the cup over and repeat the step with the other remaining flap.
Step 6: Enjoy your cup! If you followed the instructions above, your cup should look like this and be able to hold water.
