Barcelona is an active city. People love to go out.

Bcn has used big events to transform itself:

1888 Universal Exhibit.1929 Universal Exhibit.1992 OOGG.2004 Cultural Forum.

1936, (Berlín won).1933 Hitler won election in

Germany. OOGG ‘36 used for nazi

propaganda.1936 Bcn organized alternative

olympics.Antifascist event trying to

recover the olympic spirit of peace and solidarity.

6.000 athletes + 20.000 tourists. July 18th 1936 the civil war

started. Olimpiada Popular was suspended.

Some of the atheletes stayed enrolled in the International Brigade.

Cronology 1936-1939: Civil War.1939-1975: Dictatorship of F. Franco (

francoism). 1975-1982: “Transición”.

1976: Constitution.1977: general elections.1979: municipal elections.1980: regional elections.1981: attempted military coup (23-F).1982: general elections.
