If they win this week against Curtin Trinity Pirates then they are assured of finals. Word is that Jamie Dwyer will have a run (pending no Bali belly) so that will be worth watching. Coming from 5th to win the trophy is not easy but has been done before - in 2009 if my memory serves me correctly The Minkey wind-up last Saturday was pretty special with Phil Southern organising for the club's state players to train the kids. The presentation was held in the open air and the introduction of a lovely medal for every child was a highlight. The children finishing Minkey got the gold medal and we really look forward to those kids playing J3/4 next year. Phil is unable to do Minkey next year due to work commitments. We have been very fortunate to have his energy, creativity and hockey skill focussed on arguably our most important age group. Hearty thanks to Phil and his wife Cheryl from the club. Brad Hill is taking the helm next year and Brad has played plenty of good hockey and will continue the focus on ensuring the YM kids get first class tuition in basic skills. The wind up time for all the J5/6 to J9/10 teams will be 4-6pm on Saturday 8 th September. The BBQ will fire up at 3:30pm and certificate handout will start at 4pm with the J5/6 girls. The clubs will provide a sausage, drink and ice cream for each player and parents are welcome to bring their own grown up food. The City to Surf was on Sunday and Perry Lakes was a no go zone for many of us. But to those that ran and made it - congratulations. A few notable mentions that I am aware of - Patrick Pirsch (1st grade player - half marathon in 1:43, my brother and very very past player Chris Knott - marathon in 3:26). I am already working on my excuse for not having to run in 2013. Perry Lakes will host around 25 finals games over the next few weeks. Many of our teams will be playing in them so get down to Perry Lakes to provide support. Thanks in advance to those that will be down to man/woman the canteen and bar. It is a great opportunity for the club to im- prove our bank balance and show other clubs what wonderful hosts we are. Thanks to all those who have paid their fees. To the few people still yet to pay please attend to this as soon as possible as it is a fundamental responsibility that allows you to play with your friends/mates and our club. Seniors and vets/masters. Dont forget the wind-up - please email you captain / coach now to let them know you are going. It will be a great night.

RESULTS 25th– 26th August 2012

THE END OF AN ERA. Whilst chatting, a cursory glance was cast down-wards. The view, as depicted in the photo, resulted in much exclamation & shock!! The shoes in the body were not the ones we have been used to see-ing over many decades & in many situations. The Reebok's had taken over from the KT26's - (much to the relief of his family!) Apparently not for the want of trying, as after much hunting for another replacement pair it was dis-covered they are no longer available! RIP - KT26's - to a life well trodden.

FIXTURES 1st & 2nd September2012

Draft Semi Final Finals Fixtures have been posted on the Sporting Pulse website

Masters Ladies teams had a ‘Pyjama Night’ . Both teams were playing at Melville Turf. This was held in honour of Sim (and Tish), who regularly after our games, shower and don their bedroom attire for après drinks and the long drive home!! So we thought we’d all get together & wear our PJ’s before and after our games!! It was a very funny evening – even our umpire Ranga (Wendy ‘Stoner’ Stone’s son) got into the spirit with his little one piece number!!

Can you guess who’s legs in pyjamas these belong to??? See back page

CANTEEN AND BAKING ROSTER 1 /9/12 J3/4 YMCC 3 8/9/12 Semi finals 15/9/12 Grand finals

NANGA WEEKEND Middle weekend Sept/Oct holidays

Enjoy a weekend away at Nanga Bush Camp, Dwellingup. Relax, walk, paddle, ride, social-ise - whatever your fan

See Sherryn Howell [email protected] or Peter Judge

CANTEEN NEWS Our special thanks go to the parents and players from the Boys 9/10 team for their help last Saturday morning. The Canteen La-dies originally had a scheduled day "off" which then became a morning canteen for the J3/4s and Minkey windup. The 9/10 team answered our SOS with great gusto. Special thanks to Chris, Jason and Peter on the BBQ who were ably helped by some of the players - Daniel on the BBQ and Oscar on the till! Meanwhile other parents led by Pip Hutchison helped in the canteen and provided the baking. Next week ,on the 1/9/12 ,we have a massive morning with a J3/4 carnival. Please drop in if you have time to help if you can see we are under the pump! This is really the last chance to top up the profits for the year. Thank you The canteen ladies.

There is a lot of lost property in the club rooms. Would you please check the found

items . Thank you
