NO KIDS LEFT ON THE SIDE LINE!

In a P.e class there is plenty of opportunities for the stars to show off their sporting ability. I’m sure that you can identify these children from your P.e classes at school or maybe you were one of these students? Unfortunately some P.e teachers take these students under their wing allowing for favoritism to occur and the not so talented students to fall behind and therefore ‘Stand on the sideline’.

Reasons why children may not participate:

• Undeveloped skills• Over competitive

environment• Lack of social skills• Fear of failure• Feeling self-conscious• Mixed gender classes

• Students being bullied• Disabled • Overweight

Importance of child participation in pe:

-Promotes life long healthy attitudes-Increases confidence, self-esteem, self control and social skills-Improves co-ordination -Helps reduce stress-Helps maintain weight-Promotes good health-Develop life skills and activities-Decreases the risks of health issues-Improves muscular strength, flexibility and endurance-Help develop and achieve personal goals
