INTRODUCTION“Mekong Valley Biodiesel Expedition 2013” is a continuation of four previous

successful expeditions that is the UTM-PSU Thailand Biodiesel Expedition

2009 which started on 12th May 2009 until 17th May 2009 (covering a

distance of 2705 KM) continued by the Trans-Borneo Biodiesel Expedition

2010 which started on 3rd May 2010 until 15th May 2010 (with distance of

5404 KM) following with Singapore-Malaysia-Thailand-Laos Biodiesel

Expedition 2011 which started on 23rd May 2011 until 5th June 2011

(distance of 6000 KM) and finally the Trans Java-Bali Biodiesel Expedition

2012 which started on 1st July 2012 until 12th July 2012 (distance of 1430

KM).

Mekong Valley Biodiesel Expedition 2013 involves a convoy of 4-wheel drive

vehicles moved using homemade and commercial biodiesel fuel through 5

countries namely Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and finally China. The

speciality of this fifth expedition lies in its name whereby the 5 countries

which we will travel through have one thing in common, that is the Mekong

River and the route practically lies along the Mekong Valley.

This expedition is expected to be a very challenging expedition whereby the

route, starting from Bangkok, Thailand and will ends at Guangxi, China. The

total distance to be covered by this fifth expedition is approximately of 5063

KM, which will take us about 2 weeks to complete and return to Malaysia. The

expedition will begin on 18th July 2013 and end on 31st July 2013.
