BZN IFF is a four-day event located in Big Sky Country, dedicated to fostering intelligent filmmaking, understanding diverse points of view, and restoring media literacy. The BZN vision is to highlight films that make a positive impact on audiences—stories that showcase the best of the human spirit while inviting a call to action. We champion films that educate and enrich while they entertain: documentaries, indies, comedies, features and shorts that make our cut must be intelligent and thought-provoking, inspire curiosity and encourage community and global awareness. Above all, they should stimulate conversation—a lost art we’re determined to help restore.
BZN spotlights women filmmakers, directors, actors and producers who are ready to take the helm, pioneering projects to change current statistics and elevate women’s visions and voices.
In addition, BZN spotlights films that inspire audiences to get involved and take action to live in harmony with the environment and be at peace with one another. We acknowledge that conservation is complex and requires involvement from various perspectives.

WHY BOZEMANNestled within six mountain ranges, Bozeman, Montana is a shining jewel in the beautiful Mountain West. Though rapidly growing, this iconic Western town is preserving its heritage while embracing progress and innovation. High tech firms are taking notice, while organic farmers are dedicated to nourishing the land as well as its inhabitants. Residents are committed to keeping Main Street unique and vibrant: It boasts independent bookstores, locally owned boutiques, numerous art galleries, wine bars, fine restaurants featuring farm-to-table fare, and two recently restored Art Deco Theatres. Known for its extraordinarily high percentage of writers, artists and musicians, this gem of a community provides the perfect ambiance for a fresh, inclusive and uplifting international film festival--and spring in Montana is a perfect time for a cinematic odyssey.
Bozeman’s magnificent landscape offers visitors endless opportunity for hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, biking, and fly fishing on the Gallatin or Yellowstone rivers (as depicted in A River Runs Through It!). Less than an hour away, Big Sky Resort offers ziplining, downhill mountain biking, golf, skeet shooting, and a scenic tram ride to the highest outlook in the state. And did we mention Yellowstone National Park? Entering via the hamlet of Gardiner, through the unparalleled beauty of Paradise Valley, could include a stop at renowned Sage Lodge or Chico Hot Springs. Attendees can also enjoy the Museum of the Rockies or the Children’s Museum of Bozeman.
BZN offers attendees the opportunity to attend a film festival, while immersing themselves in the astounding grandeur of “the last best place,” where the glamour and glitter is just overhead.
