Place excess holiday trash/recyclables in bags alongside your containers on your collection day. Extra Holiday Trash Storms with heavy rainfall may cause debris flows and many other issues in our streets. In order to prevent trash and recycling carts from adding to the issue follow these guidelines: 1. Be aware of storm and windy weather forecasts. 2. Be aware of potential storm water flows in and around your property. 3. Avoid placing carts and bulky items where flows can create hazards. In swift moving waters, these items can float and rush out into the street. 4. Place trash and recyclables in bags and then in carts. This will minimize spillage onto city streets. If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Service Department. Winter Storm Weather We are now accepting cartons for recycling. This exciting addition to our programs and services will allow our customers to recycle more! What are cartons? Cartons are the packaging for many products you can find at the store including milk, juice, cream, egg substitutes, soy milk, soup, broth, and wine. They come in two different types—the aseptic or shelf stable cartons found on store shelves as well as the familiar gable-top, refrigerated cartons. How do I recycle cartons? Place empty cartons in your recycling bin. What happens to the cartons I recycle? Cartons are sorted and baled at Burrtec’s Material Recovery Facility. The bales of cartons are sold to paper mills. Here, fiber in the cartons is converted into pulp, which in turn is made into recycled paper products and building materials. Why should I recycle cartons? Cartons are made mainly from paper, plastic and some aluminium. All of which are recyclable! Recycling cartons helps to save those resources, which is good for our environment.
