A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR RECECCA

Dear Church Family,

As I think ahead to November, my heart is drawn to give thanks for all that God is doing among us. I’ll share some of God’s gracious gifts that I notice, with the hope that you will give thanks with me and be inspired to see even more.~ God has given us a whole year together to get to know each other~ We have a rich history of traditions and a new flow of creative energy,

which are blending well in our lives and worship together~ God has brought new people here to worship with us and be part of our church family~ The Holy Spirit is inspiring people to share their gifts and talents to bring glory to God~ We have children coming and bringing their liveliness to God’s house

(continued)

~ Church spaces are being used year-round and are welcoming, due to some vision and dedicated effort by people willing to serve

~ We have the chance to welcome anyone in our church family and communitywho is ready to bring their brokenness to Jesus for healing through Celebrate Recovery meetings

~ God is providing the resources for all that we are called to do in ministry~ Our new sound system, and people willing and able to facilitate its use,

have made it possible for more people to hear and participate in worshiping God~ I’m looking forward to our new church directory (arriving soon)

that will help us to connect with each other for support, friendship, and fellowship~ God’s Word is a deep and rich resource for our lives,

and I am enjoying our journey through the Story of God together~ I’m thankful for God’s great mercy and love,

as God forgives our mistakes and helps us learn to forgive each other ~ Even as the days grow shorter and darker, we know our Reason for hope is there

waiting to meet us in the stillness of approaching winter I know that my list will grow through the coming days, and I hope that you find many reasons to thank God too. Giving thanks fills our hearts with joy!

Love in Christ, Pastor Rebecca

ORGAN CONCERT AT FIRST BAPTIST

On Sunday afternoon, 10/22, about 40 people attended an organ concert at First Baptist sponsored by the Vermont Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. It was part of an organ tour that additionally included concerts at First Congregational Church and Zion Episcopal Church. Our Music Director, Jeff Linebeck, opened the concert accompanying the audience in singing "O God, Our Help in Ages Past." Then Organist John Riddle presented a brief concert consisting of pieces by Bach, Brahms, Buxtehude, Pachelbel, Robert J. Powell and Seth Bingham. The concert demonstrated the full range of variety possible using the various stops of our organ. Mr. Riddle had previously played a recital on our Johnson & Son organ in 1974.
