Introduction, mission and goals
BUAP is the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (Meritorious Autonomus University of Puebla), it is in the top ten universities of Mexico and it is the only one in the country that has origins in 1587. The Faculty of Physical Sciences of buap is created in 1950, and until 2016 it did not have enough divulgation of science in optics and photonics groups. The idea of creating an Student Chapter comes from this lack of enough divulgation groups into
the university, as a faculty of sciences it is our duty to take scientific knowledge to everyone who
is possible, not only inside the university but also all who lives in Puebla.
Our goal is to carry out scientific divulgation in optics and photonics into the state since the other
institutional chapters in Puebla are not enough for this job.
Since Mexico do not have enough scientific production we have a particular interest in children
and youth because they are the future of science in our country
In 2016 we presented a proposition for being included in the webpage of our faculty with another divulgation groups, among other ones the OSA student chapter BUAP, we also ask for a cubicle in order to have a place for our personal recreation and study, we are still waiting for these things. Our mision is improving the interaction of youth, children and university students with science, specially optics and photonics because these both are the present and the future in telecomunications.
