description

This is the slideshow I am using for my final English speech. "When we face the concept of “cultural diversity”, our mind generally aims at images of little children of different races and backgrounds holding their hands and dancing in circles around a globe; however, this is far from being the only perception of the term. For some, including Nelson Mandela, it is a social ideal that must be achieved for the fair development of human groups; for others, beyond any moral argument, it is a source of economic income and/or votes. How is it that the same term can be stretched not only to cover but to back up demands and procedures? Moreover, how can we use it to support projects related to culture and its spreading? How does it reflect the failure of the measures we’ve taken to avoid conflicts that are related to difference?" If you think the transcript of the speech would help your assignment or whatever, feel free to contactme.

Imagine by John Lennon Imagine there's no Heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today

Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one

SummaryThesis Statement A concept that is taught in school as an abstract characteristic of societies around the globe is present in a more pragmatic way in the policies that are implemented by the governments, including the Mexican one. This concept is cultural diversity - and, just as many political leaders used it during the 20th century to make room for needed changes, it can be used today to justify actions that lead to the country’s integral development because difference can inspire positive changes.

PurposeOur purpose is to provide the audience with the knowledge on principles that are used in policy-making to protect cultural diversity and ensure its right use while giving them a glimpse of the dilemmas that are being currently faced. By doing this, we are looking to provide them with a resource they can use one day when demanding support of any kind from the government for causes or projects that are generally dismissed for their “lack of application” in the practical world, and also with a more-in-depth explanation on why the conflicts related to differences cannot be solved with their elimination.

AbstractWhen we face the concept of “cultural diversity”, our mind generally aims at images of little children of different races and backgrounds holding their hands and dancing in circles around a globe; however, this is far from being the only perception of the term. How does it reflect the failure of the measures we’ve taken to avoid conflicts that are related to difference?
