Story Reading: The Magic Porridge Pot Moral of the story: The story focused on being hardworking, helping and having the responsibility of caring for the elderly. Extension topic: RiceThe K2s were able to connect to the character of Kim and empathize her situation whereby she was asked to leave her job when the shopkeeper was upset with her. She had to go home without food that evening and had nothing to cook for her sick grandmother. Kim was a little girl who was very hard working and caring towards her grandmother went through hardship at an early stage of her life. It showed Kim’s independence and a strong sense of responsibility. The character magician gave an element of surprise to the story as he suddenly appeared to help her gave a magic pot so they could have meals everyday. Children were able to identify the distinct characteristic of the four characters in the story.

If I had a magic pot, I will cook…..Our friends put on their imaginary cap and think of a dish to cook in their magic pot. This activity exercises their language and speaking skills as well as their creativity.

As we already know, the mind and body are connected. Therefore physical coordination

activities are essential to be incorporated in our curriculum to support children’s learning, staying

focus on tasks besides building their muscle strength and endurance. We will start the day with warm up physical exercises that includes

some body coordination routine every morning.

AESTHETIC & CREATIVE EXPRESSION

NUMERACY

The Ktwos were introduced to the concept of Division for the month of September.

Our young learners were able to understand the practice of dividing objects equally. We

used some authentic materials for our lessons like the baking tray with counter

chips and also plastic egg cartons and pom pom balls.

It’s cookery time! We too used our “Magic Pot” to cook our

version of porridge. We had so much fun cooking our “Spiced

Porridge” and it was so satisfying to get to eat it after all the hard work. Well done K2 Sunflowers! We also learned so much about

rice. From where do we get rice to how do we cook them and finally to our plates. We explored the many different types of rice too.

明月几时有，把酒问青天。不知天上宫。。。不知不觉又到了年度盛会中秋节。今年的中秋节幼儿们都在这个月玩得非常开心。他们用能干的小小手制作了小小灯笼。一些家长也非常有创意的和耐心的与孩子们一起制作了精美的灯笼。除此之外，幼儿们也通过视频看看古时候制作灯笼的过程。老师也随着他们的意愿，制作了一个模板给他们“拉边”以便能制作星星的形状。另外，他们也也认识了中秋节的故事和歌曲。在庆祝中秋节的当天，幼儿们也分别的认识了传统与现代制作月饼的程序。

接下来介绍的是这个月的主题《一粒种子》。在这个主题里，幼儿们分别认识了不同种类的种子，也认识了种子的生长过程。幼儿们也很有创意的用葵花种子制作成美丽的相框。大家不妨来来一起欣赏吧。

The children had a great time this month for the Mid-Autumn Festival . They made small lanterns with their small, capable hands. Some parents also worked very creatively and patiently with the children to make beautiful lanterns. In addition, the children also watched the process of making lanterns in ancient times through videos. The teacher also made a template for them to "pull" them to make the shape of the stars. They also met the stories and songs of the Mid-Autumn Festival. On the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the children learned about the traditional and modern procedures for making moon cakes. The next theme of the month, "One Seed." In this theme, the children know different kinds of seeds and know the growth process of the seeds. Young children are also very creative in making beautiful photo frames from sunflower seeds. You may wish to experience it and enjoy it together.

It was a truly quality time spent together as a class at the Kids Stop on the 28th of September.

Our K2 sunflowers were awarded with complimentary tickets

achieving the 3rd place in the “Show you can” competition. You

are awesome Ktwos!

We wrapped up our 2018 Innovation project (Kindness on board) in

September. It was packed with full fun activities. There were games,

music, dancing and various activities. Let’s take a look of some of the

activities that we did.

halfway” to convey

kind words to each

other.

We wrote a simple

note to our loved

ones to show our

appreciation

towards them.

And to the heroes of

the train staffs for

doing a great job so

The Ktwos put up

a short skit to

show the audience

some examples of

kindness behavior

on board. A scene

in an aircraft.

Greet and smile back to the cabin crew when they welcome

you on board the plane.

Be patience and wait in line, do not grumble and be upset as the cabin crew needs to help other passengers too.

Remember to say “Thank you” after someone has helped you.

Listen and follow the pilot’s and cabin crew instructions for your own safety.


The K1 and K2 children went to Kindsville Gallery on 7th September 2018. This

trip is in conjunction with Kindness on Board project where the children

learned to be courteous and kind to the transport staffs and to have a safe trip in

buses and MRT trains.
