TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
The design is for an FRP composite, tri-deck Motor Yacht fitted with twin marine diesel engines drivingscrew propellers through reversing / reductiongearboxes.
The construction of the hull, deck andsuperstructure together with all interior joinery andfurniture shall be designed and built to first classyacht building standards. Construction shall belightweight yet immensely durable, using materialsof the best quality, to Sunseeker Yacht standards.
The choice and specification of all equipment and
fittings is to be made with consideration to practicalseaman like requirements with minimum weight,balanced against durability, operational requirementsand quality.
The yacht is to be designed, built and equipped tosuit operation in Mediterranean or equivalentconditions.
Special consideration is to be made in the choiceand specification of air-conditioning and ventilationsystems, to ensure total suitability for the climateenvisaged.
During the early stages of specification, it is advisedthat the owner / operator inform Sunseeker of theyachts potential operations and where possible thegeneral cruising grounds of the yacht.

CONSTRUCTION The entire shell and the majority of the stiffening of the hull will be in hand laid FRP.
The hull topsides will be gelled in Sunseekersexclusive XL gel coat for a white hull and NPG gelfor a coloured hull to give the best possibleweathering resistance and gloss retention. The hull
below the waterline will be gelled with an NPG basedgel coat. To optimise the resi tic blistering, the entirehull mould will have a skin coat of powder bound
chopped strand matt with vinylester resin. It isrecommended that the vessel is lifted at the end of each season in order to replace anodes and antifoulwhere necessary.
The remaining hull shell consists of a single skinlaminate in the bottom using multi-axialreinforcements with a substantial increase inthickness in the keel area; hull sides will be of asandwich type construction.
The hull shell will be stiffened by longitudinalstringers and deep girders, these in turn aresupported by transverse bulkheads, FRP ring framesand watertight bulkheads.
The longitudinal stiffeners will be of unidirectionaland multi-axial plies over non-structural foamformers in way of stringers and over PVC foamengine girders.
Additional reinforcements are provided in way of thepropeller shaft brackets, rudders and whereverthere are concentrated loads requiring an increasein strength or stiffness.
TANKSAll tanks will be of a composite construction. Theywill all be built around the hull structure and will be
lined with appropriate materials that will resistpenetration of the liquid that they are containing.
All tanks shall be fitted with senders of appropriatetype. Senders shall be fitted as near to the centre of the tank as possible.
For fuel tanks accurate measurements for fuel levelscan be taken when underway at speeds up to 15knots before running trim will adversely affect theaccuracy of the readings.
All integral tanks are fitted with access facility forinspection.

ANCHORING EQUIPMENT Two 210 kg Manson Galvanised anchors are to bestowed in recessed pockets integral with the hullshell. Seawater washing is to be incorporated intoeach hawse pipe for overboard washing. Theseawater washing is controlled manually from theforedeck locker. The recesses are to be lined withstainless steel to prevent the anchors chafing thehull.

Twin Muir VCR 8000 hydraulic vertical anchorwindlass are to be fitted. They will be single speedoperating in both directions, from a remotewandering cable control, to be mounted in theforeword locker.
Chain lockers are to be fitted in the forepeak of sufficient size to take two lengths of 137.5 metrecirca 17.5mm diameter of high tensile (Grade U2)galvanised stud linked chain. They are to be linedwith reinforced rubber matting to protect anyexposed surfaces.
The foredeck work area will be a matt non-slip finish.
MOORING EQUIPMENT Two standard bollards are to be situated on the foredeck. Further bollards are to be located on the aftdeck and abaft the exterior stairs on both the portand starboard sides there is to be a mooring stationincorporated with in the fairlead design. All bollardsare to be of Stainless Steel manufacture and to beof sufficient strength to take the prescribed classmooring loads.
Four standard fairleads are to be situated in the foredeck bulwark for mooring. A further six fairleads areto be located on the aft deck bulwarks. All fairleadsare to be of Stainless Steel manufacture and be of
sufficient strength to take the proscribed classmooring loads.
Two Muir VC6000 hydraulic capstans with ribbedtype drums are to be fitted on the port andstarboard sides of the aft deck. They will be singlespeed operating in one direction. They are to becontrolled by locally mounted foot switches.
PASSERELLE ARRANGEMENTA Self-stowing 5 metre triple extension 580 mmwide passerelle is to be fitted with handrails. It is tobe manufactured of aluminium alloy (white powdercoated finish) with a laid teak walkway.
To be stowed in an FRP composite or alloywatertight trunk, built into the deck head structureof machinery space, incorporating a transom-closinghatch. It is to have electro-hydraulic operatedstowing, raising/ lowering and telescopic action andbe controlled with local switches. The passerelle willrequire a manually operated fold down GRP steparrangement in the aft stairs.
The passerelle will overhang the platform with thegarage door closed by circa 1.80 metres. Thepasserelle will overhang the garage door when thegarage door is open by 0.24 metres.
TENDER GARAGE ARRANGEMENT The aft tender garage arrangement shall be suchthat the optional tender / jet skis can be launchedand recovered efficiently. The design of the tenderlaunch and recovery mechanism is achieved utilisinga hydraulic winch and low profile lubricated pads androller system. Rollers and lubricated pads willrequire crew assembly and dis-assembly on both thegarage door inner face and within the garagedepending on which item is to be launched. Amanually operated hinged flap / cover tread will belocated between the opened garage door andgarage top step or sill.
The garage door opens through circa 130 to 135
degrees to form a large platform that can bepartially immersed for launching, or remain level forbathing. This door will be manually locked andunlocked using suitable internal handles. The doorwill be opened and closed via twin hydraulic rams(port and starboard). An emergency manuallyoperated closing system will be supplied with thevessel ( The tender winch can be used via pulleysand ratchet straps to close the door).
The garage arrangement is designed toaccommodate a diesel engine powered tender (circa5.8m, optional) stored centrally, and two petrolengine powered jet skis (optional) stored on the
starboard side. Alternatively this space can be usedfor diving equipment.
A gas detection system will be positioned in the aftgarage area. Platform bathing ladder to havesockets on each side of platform.
The use of the forward garage compartment withinthe superstructure will depend upon Classificationrequirements (man overboard tender compartmenton MCA vessels). If no requirements exist, the spacemay be used as general deck stowage. The garagedoor will be hydraulically operated.
HATCHES, WINDOWS AND PORTLIGHTSAll windows shall be of toughened safety glass withthickness to class society requirement. Generally allwindows are to be fixed pattern, tinted glazing withthe exception of wheelhouse front and sidewindows, which are to be clear glass.
Deadlights or storm shutters are to be provided toClassification requirements. They are to bemanufactured of aluminium alloy/ FRP panels asacceptable to Classification Society. Storm shuttersare omitted where laminated toughened glass hasbeen accepted by the Classification Society.

The hot water circuit shall be arranged as a ringmain throughout the lower and upper decks of theyacht. The ring main shall be fitted with apermanently running (A.C.) circulating pump locatedin close proximity to the hot water cylinders. Themain run shall be in circa 25mm diameter. I.D. pipewith standard bore lines to all accommodation,galley supply lines and external faucets.
Shore power water connection with pressureregulator.
Reverse osmosis desalination system 1 x IdromarMC3S with extra Membrane. Capacity 6700litres/ day. Rating based on average seawater
salinity 35000 ppm and temperature range min.33oF / .5oC max. 122oF / 50oC
GREY WATER SYSTEMA waste water (grey water) gravity drained systemshall be fitted to all showers, baths, wash-basins andgalley services on upper decks and, will drain into a1350 litre grey water holding tank.
All lower deck shower rooms, galley and laundryservices shall drain to 240V Tecma wastewaterpumping units before being transferredautomatically into the same grey water holding tankas specified above.
All discharges (where possible) are to be fitted withCombi-Siphon air admittance water traps.
The holding tank is an epoxy coated integral GRPtank. The tank will be fitted with permanently openvent lines to the mast fitted with a carbon filter. Thetank has access for inspection.
For discharge of grey water directly into the sea, 1 xdischarge/macerator pump rated at 220 / 380VA.C. capable of discharging circa. 160 l / min isprovided. This pump may be operated manually orset to discharge automatically upon reaching acertain set volume.
For redundancy, both grey and black tank dischargepumps can be valved to draw from either grey orblack tanks in the unlikely event of a pump failure.
Tank Monitoring Ultrasonic level sensing of thetank level will be full range with multiple alarms
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMAll accommodation spaces including the wheelhouseand galley to be fully air-conditioned with a chilledwater circulating system with reverse cycle heatingto give the following states:
SUMMEROutside Air 30 C - 35 C and 80%relative humidity.Inside Air 20 C - 25 C and 55%relative humidity.Seawater Temp 25 C

In addition to the accommodation spaces, the mainswitchboard compartment will also have sufficientair conditioning.
Modular chilled water units will serve the system
with a capacity capable of serving all lower, main,and upper deck accommodation. Capacities of thechilled water system will depend upon the yachtsfinal destination and any options required. Thecondensate produced from the air handlers will bedrained directly into the grey water tank.
Each area / cabin shall have room mounted variablespeed air-handling units with individual cabin controlsand full display in each area. All air-handling units willbe positioned such that serviceability and filterremoval are easily achieved. All ducting togetherwith return and supply air grills will be sized inaccordance with Marine Air recommendations.
FIRE HYDRANT SYSTEM2 A.C. pumps will supply a minimum of 2 firehydrants positioned to ensure coverage of all areasof the vessel. Fire fighting equipment (water) will beprovided at fire hydrant points (sited in fire lockers)and will have fire hoses and nozzles withinstantaneous connections and quick release valves.
Primary fire pump - located in a dedicated pumproom aft of the machinery space will draw seawaterfrom the main sea chest in the engine room.
The secondary fire pump - located in a locker on themain weather deck accessible to all crew will drawseawater from an independent seawater inletlocated outside of the engine room.
BILGE SYSTEMA central bilge discharge system driven by 2 A.C.pumps are located in a dedicated pump room (builtas a watertight compartment) aft of the machineryspace. This room can be accessed via themachinery space, garage or via a deck hatch. Thesepumps will draw via a bilge manifold also located inthe pump room and will discharge overboard.
The machinery space is fitted with three bilgesuctions. One connected to the engine driven pump.One connected to the bilge manifold and one direct

to the bilge pump. All remaining bilge suctions areconnected to the bilge manifold in the pump room.
Each bilge suctions will be fitted with a detachableand easily cleaned strum box.
FIRE SUPPRESSION AND DETECTION The accommodation areas of the yacht are to befitted with both heat and smoke detector alarms andthe machinery spaces with heat detector alarms.
The fixed fire fighting system shall be a Seafire FM200 engineered system with a capacity toextinguish a fire within the engine roomcompartment.
Hand held fire extinguishers are fitted in allaccommodation and machinery spaces. Fireblankets in galley.
FUEL SYSTEMFuel is stored in forward bunker tank or tanksintegral with hull structure. Both main propulsionengines and generators draw independently from adaily service tank and return via a commonmanifold. This tank shall be replenished, via transferpump(s) from the bunker tank(s). The pump(s) canbe set to automatically replenish the daily servicetank, activated at preset levels from the tank level
sensors.
On bunkering fuel passes through a tank-viewingport then into the filling and transfer manifoldlocated on the forward engine room bulkhead. Thisprovides visual inspection during fuel bunkeringensuring safe filling procedures.
Fuel filling is via gravity to the main bunkering tanksand day tank.
NOTE: All tanks should never be filled above 95%,this point is alarmed and recordable.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM The central hydraulic system, provided by ABT, willprovide power for the bow thruster, 2-foredeckwindlasses and 2 aft capstans.
When underway both main engines power twinRexroth variable displacement hydraulic pumpgroups. One 45cc pump will be attached via athrough shaft to one 140cc pump which will bemounted on each gearbox via an SAE D flange.Engine idle speed will be set to 650rpm; this willproduce circa 225 Bar pressure.
The two foredeck windlasses will be single speedhydraulically powered Muir VRC 8000.
The two aft capstans will be single speedhydraulically powered MUIR VC6000.
Control will be local to both windlasses andcapstans and will also be isolated via a deckfunction button situated on the bridge. The deckfunction when activated will prompt the user toselect the AC motor to power the windlasses andcapstans.
The bow thruster, 1 windlass and 1 capstan willoperate at full thrust / pull with both main enginesrunning.When at anchor 1 windlass or 1 capstan will operateat max pull through the electro/hydraulic system
specified above.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM (STEERING) The steering system will operate via a dedicatedelectro/hydraulic power pack. The main componentsof which are located in a separate gas tightcompartment adjacent to the port side of thegarage area. This compartment is also extendsacross the rear of the garage compartment and,contains both tillers and steering rams. Hatchesprovide for easy inspection of steering gear.
The system is actuated via the control panel locatedat the main helm. It is also possible to control the
vessel using a steering wheel positioned on the helmconsole. All communication between the electro/hydraulic pack and the main helm position iselectronic via a screened cable.
There is also a manual hydraulic helm positionlocated in the adjacent compartment used tooperate the steering system in the event of electrical failure. Communication to the bridge willbe via a VHF handset and visual indication of therudder position is given via a local reference gauge.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM (AUXILLARY)An independent system located in the tendergarage. A locally mounted manual pump, in theevent of ships power loss, can also operate thesystem.
The auxiliary hydraulic pack will control the following:

ELECTRICALAll electrical systems are designed and installed inaccordance with Classification Society standards.
All electrical equipment is selected from rangesdemonstrated to be suitable for marine use.Wherever appropriate, equipment is type-approvedby the relevant Classification Society.
All cables are selected from marine ranges. Whereappropriate these are type-approved by theClassification Society.
Cable support is in accordance with classificationsociety rules. All major cable runs within the
machinery space are supported on wire cable trays.
AC SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTIONMain AC Power SupplyBoats to European Standards:3-Phase supplies - 400 Volts 50Hz 4-wire distributionwith grounded neutral.Single-phase supplies - 230 Volts 50 Hz withgrounded neutral.
Boats to US Standards:3-phase supplies - 400 Volts 60Hz 4-wire distributionwith grounded neutral.3-phase supplies - 208 Volts 60Hz 4-wire distribution
with grounded neutral.Single phase supplies 230 & 120 Volts 60Hz withgrounded neutral.
Electrical power is supplied from two maingenerators.When alongside, power may be drawn from shoreside connections via either an isolating transformeror optional shore power converter.
Connection to the shore will be via a 20 metre shorecable capable of 100 amp per phase duty.
This can be retrieved via a Glendinning cable master.
Main SwitchboardAC Power is fed into a power management systemthat protects and manages the available powersupplies and distributes power to sub-distributionboards throughout the boat.
The power management system is installed within aspace directly adjacent to the engine room.Appropriate panel instrumentation is provided topermit local monitoring and in the event of anemergency, manual control of the system.
Two distribution sections are provided, each directlyfed by one generator. Under normal operatingconditions one generator is nominated as the dutyset and this machine will supply the entire boatload.
The second generator is designated as the stand-byset.
Manual switching between duty and stand-bygenerators automatically seamlessly connects thestand-by machine and shares the load during peakdemand. Manual operation is via the touch screens(Marine Personal Assistant) located at the bridgeand main switchboard location which shares ascreen in the engine room.
When a shore power connection is available,switching between generator and shore power willbe seamless i.e. there will be no interruption of ACpower.
The Marine Personal Assistant facilitates controland monitoring of the main ship systems includingtank levels, breaker status, alarm activation andmonitoring, pump controls once manual valveselection has been completed, bilge and fireinformation and all electrical load management. TheMPA can accommodate additional facilities whenrequested as a customer variation.
Shore Supply SystemWhere it is anticipated that the boat will operate onlyin an area where a single shore power supplystandard applies, an isolation transformer will beinstalled. This ensures total galvanic isolationbetween the shore power system and the vessel.Where it is intended that the boat will operate inareas where different shore power standards maybe encountered it is recommended that an optionalshore power converter be installed.For boats with European standard power supplies, asingle 100A power inlet (capable of passing a totalpower in excess of 60kW) is recommended forfamily cruising use.
For boats with US standard power supplies it isrecommended that two inlets, each of the 100A(each capable of passing a total power in excess of 35kW) be positioned.
All inlets to be provided with Glendinning Cablemaster. Cable length to be 20m as standard. Cableto remain flexible at temperatures down to 10C.
Power Distribution The final circuits in the boat are protected byresidual current circuit breakers (GFCI or ELCB) andby over-current circuit breakers.
