Facilitate opportunities for families and educators to co-create shared understanding and action to benefit children’s learning. Provide support and advocacy for families in the education and social development of their children. Speak confidently and with a reasonable degree of authority on engagement and partnership theory and practice, and also offer sound advice in these areas. Network and work effectively with stakeholders to share resources and create new opportunities. Develop and maintain knowledge of approaches to community strengthening and capacity building. Establish effective mechanisms for family and community consultation to identify and understand needs, identify and explore workable solutions. CERTIFICATE IV IN

PARENT, FAMILY ANDCOMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTAccredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority, this nationally recognised qualification will provide you with the knowledge, skills and experience to effectively perform a range of paid and voluntary roles that have a focus on engaging parents, families and communities in schooling and learning. These roles may be in schools, preschools, early childhood and community centres, and not for profit and government organisations.

On graduating, you will have the necessary competencies to lead and support effective engagement and partnership practice, working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and with a deep appreciation of diverse needs, perspectives and opportunities.

ASSESSMENTS

A range of assessment methods are used including practical exercises, case studies, projects, written responses and learning journals.

PFCENG401A and PFCENG402A each require 20 hours of active participation in relevant activities. These hours can be completed through paid and voluntary work, project work and recognition of prior learning.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The course will commence on Monday, 16th April.

Applications for enrolment will continue to be taken after this date for later entry into the course in May, June and August.

There are no pre-requisites for entry into this course.

A level of proficiency in English is required and this should be discussed before you enrol.

Access to a computer and internet connectivity is essential.

LHH & APC ARRANGEMENTS

Lee Hecht Harrison RTO21530 is the only Registered Training Organisation authorised to deliver the 10500NAT Certificate IV in Parent, Family and Community Engagement.

The Australian Parents Council will recruit learners, collect course fees and deliver training and assessment services.

Lee Hecht Harrison is responsible for the integrity of the qualification. It does not guarantee that graduates will find relevant employment.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

• Government subsidies and loans are not available for this course.

• The course fee is $2,700 inclusive of GST.

• An upfront payment of $1,000 (including GST) is required on enrolment.

• If a learner is unable to pay the full upfront payment on enrolment, they may pay $220 (including GST) on enrolment to start the first unit, and an additional payment of $780 (including GST) before completion of that unit.

• Fee refunds will be made in accordance with Lee Hecht Harrison’s refund policy.

AUSTRALIAN PARENTS COUNCILThe Australian Parents Council has been a leading advocate for family-school partnerships and parent and family engagement for over 50 years. It co-led development of the Family-School Partnerships Framework (2008; 2017) and also designs and delivers training programs for parents and families.

The APC developed the Certificate IV in Parent, Family and Community Engagement with Lee Hecht Harrison’s assistance and wide consultation with parent organisations, government staff, academics, principal organisations and teachers. The qualification is managed through a formal agreement between Lee Hecht Harrison and the Australian Parents Council.

COURSE DELIVERY

This online program allows you to complete the qualification in 12 – 18 months. Your completion timeframe will depend on your time availability, the pace at which you study, and also your work experience and prior education.

Online program facilitators and assessors will support you in your learning, give timely feedback on your progress and manage the learning environment including online webinars and forums.
